Faced with an artist with so much history, it is only natural that his biopic promises to cause controversy. Especially since the man helming the project is Dexter Fletcher, director of the blockbuster “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Differently from the Freddie Mercury film, however, Fletcher promises a more revealing work, touches of fantasy and Taron Egerton playing the lead role. We will wait and see.

Tanto que aos 11 anos ele ganhou uma bolsa na Royal Academy of Music, conservatório mais antigo de Londres. Mas música erudita nunca fez a cabeça do artista. Com 15 anos ele se apresentava em pubs na capital inglesa com a banda Bluesology. Vem de lá a inspiração para o nome artístico, junção dos nomes dos parceiros de música na adolescência Elton Dean e Long John Baldry. O menino prodígio morou com o padrasto e com a mãe após o divórcio dela com o pai de Elton, um militar linha-dura que nunca apoiou a carreira musical do filho. Contrariando o estereótipo de rockstar, Elton John seguiria por um bom tempo com a família, compondo futuros hits em um pianinho branco de armário de 1910. Até a fama chegar, ele tocou e criou músicas para outros artistas na Liber$ Records. Não tinha o mesmo talento de compositor que esbanjava ao piano. A sorte mudou a partir de 1967, quando conheceu o letrista Bernie Taupin. Deu tão certo que eles trabalharam em mais de 30 álbuns. Mas há uma Itália pouco conhecida (e menos saturada por milhões de turistas como em Roma) que merece ser visitada. Se a sua viagem tem uns dias a mais, se as férias são um repeteco no Mediterrâneo ou se você gosta de !gir do óbvio, conheça o fabuloso lado B italiano. Comecemos por Roma. Se todos os caminhos levam até lá, a saída é pela estação ferroviária San Pietro, próxima do Vaticano. Por 5,60 euros, o trem percorre cerca de 80 km para chegar a Viterbo, repleta de ruas medievais, águas termais e uma rica história. Entre os católicos, a cidadezinha de 68 mil habitantes é famosa por ter sido a terra de Santa Rosa –mumificada, ela está exposta em uma capela anexa à igreja que leva seu nome. Viterbo vem do latim Vetus Urbs ou Cidade Velha. Seu centro histórico é um dos maiores e mais bem-preservados bairros medievais de toda a Europa, o que, por si só, já vale a viagem por entre muralhas históricas. Chegar a Paestum é ir para a Grécia sem sair da Itália. Fundada em 600 a.C., ela é considerada a cidade da Grécia Antiga mais bemconservada do mundo // Visiting Paestum is like going to Greece without leaving Italy. fices abandonaram Roma e se mudaram para Viterbo por questões de segurança e autonomia. De 1254 a 1281, ela foi a sede principal da Igreja Católica, trazendo mais riqueza e prosperidade para a cidade. O Palácio dos Papas, em estilo medieval, foi ocupado por oito sumos pontífices e é um ponto turístico essencial. Lá surgiu o termo “conclave”, que designa o encontro de cardeais para eleger um novo papa. De 1268 a 1271, na eleição mais longa da igreja, o resultado só saiu após todos os cardeais serem fechados à chave e com alimentação racionada. A tática deu certo: Gregório X foi eleito e, hoje, é possível conhecer a sala do fatídico acontecimento. Passear por Viterbo, com edificações pitorescas como a Catedral de San Lorenzo, nos faz imaginar como era a vida na Idade Média. E, além disso, a cidade possui uma característica geográfica prazerosa: ela abriga diversas termas naturais com arquitetura preservada. Entre as mais famosas está a fonte de Bullicame, com águas terapêuticas a 58°. Após caminhar por tantas ruelas medievais, um banho termal bem ao estilo dos romanos vai bem.

CONEXÃO ITÁLIA-GRÉCIA Outra preciosidade italiana pouco conhecida é Paestum, !ndada em 600 a.C. e considerada a cidade da Grécia Antiga mais bem-conservada do mundo. Se a Costa Amalfitana está no seu roteiro, reserve um dia para Paestum. Um bate-volta de Salerno é facílimo: são apenas 30 km de distância e é possível ir de trem. Da popular Nápoles a viagem também é sobre trilhos, dura apenas uma hora e meia e compensa qualquer esforço. Chegar a Paestum é ir para a Grécia sem sair da Itália. E, por incrível que pareça, o sítio arqueológico italiano deixa até Atenas para trás: além das ruínas bem-conservadas com mais de 2,5 mil anos, não é preciso disputar espaço com uma multidão de turistas. São quatro grandes templos – dois dedicados a Hera, a rainha do Olimpo; um a Atena, a deusa da sabedoria, e outro a Poseidon, o deus dos mares. Além de circular pelos templos e contemplar a imponente arquitetura grega, é possível visitar tumbas,
val boroughs in all of Europe, which by itself is worth the trip to its historical walls. In the neighborhood of San Pellegrino, the stones climb from the ground all the way to the ceiling of houses, covering streets, gantries and arcs and transporting us directly to the past. !e ci%, founded by the Etruscans, gained fortifications in 773 and lived its apogee in the 13th century. When the tension with the empire became stronger, the pontiffs abandoned Rome and moved to Viterbo for questions of security and autonomy. From 1254 to 1281, it was the main headquarters of the Catholic Church, bringing more riches and prosperi% to the ci%. !e Palace of the Popes, in medieval s%le, was occupied by eight Supreme Pontiffs and is an essential tourist attraction. It was there that the term “conclave” was created to designate the meeting of cardinals to elect a new Pope. From 1268 to 1271, in the Church’s longest election, the result only came out a$er the cardinals were locked in the room with restricted feeding. !e tactic paid off: Gregory X was elected and, currently, one is able to see the room where the ominous happening took place. Strolling around Viterbo, with picturesque buildings like San Lorenzo Cathedral, makes us imagine what life was like in the Middle Ages. Besides, the ci% has a very pleasing geographic characteristic: it houses a series of natural thermal baths with preserved architecture. Among the most famous is the fountain of Bullicame, with 58°C therapeutic waters. A$er walking through so many medieval alleys, a Roman s%le thermal bath is a good option.

A pintura mais famosa, e que se tornou um símbolo local, traz um homem saltando para um mergulho. O mistério: a imagem foi gravada na parte de dentro de um túmulo e até hoje não se sabe o que ela representa. Como se todo esse valor histórico não bastasse, Paestum ainda é um destino procurado pelas belas praias no mar Tirreno, que, diferentemente das icônicas praias da Costa Amalfitana, são de areia finíssima – e não de pedrinhas. Descalços, seus pés agradecem o desvio no roteiro turístico mais tradicional. Originalmente batizada Posidônia, em tributo a Poseidon, Paestum teve grande importância na Grécia Antiga e também !ncionou normalmente durante o auge do Império Romano. Mas com o início da Idade Média, no século 5, a cidade entrou em declínio e foi abandonada – o que explica o grau de preservação de seus templos. Foi só no século 18 que as ruínas de Paestum foram encontradas, e ainda há muito o que descobrir. Dos cerca de 120 hectares do sítio arqueológico local, apenas 25 hectares foram escavados. O que nos faz acreditar que o subsolo de Paestum seja como a Itália: guarde muitas surpresas incríveis para !turos viajantes.

Another li#le-known Italian gem is Paestum, founded in 600 B.C. and considered the best-conserved Ancient Greek ci% in the world. If the Amalfi Coast is in your itinerary, reserve a day for Paestum. A quick one-day trip from Salerno is a synch: the distance of about 20 miles can be covered by train. From popular Naples, the trip can also be made by rail, takes about 90 minutes and is worth any effort you may have to make. Visiting Paestum is like going to Greece without leaving Italy. Moreover, as incredible as it may seem, the Italian archeological site leaves Athens in the dust: besides the well-preserved 2.5-thousand year ruins, you do not have to rub elbows with a crowd of tourists. !ere are four great temples – two dedicated to Hera, the queen of Olympus, one to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and the other to Poseidon, lord of the seas. Apart from making the temple rounds and contemplating the imposing Greek architecture, there are tombs, walls, ruins of a Roman forum and ancient residences to be visited. A small museum facing the archeological site is also worth the trip. !e ticket to the museum and ruins costs a measly € 9.50. !ere, visitors will find paintings from the Greek period and items discovered in diggings like vases, polished stones and other ancient objects. !e most famous painting, which has become a symbol of the place, shows a man diving. !e mystery: the image was engraved in the inner part of a tomb and nobody knows, until this day, what it represents. As if all this historical value were not enough, Paestum is a destination also sought for the beauti(l beaches in the Tyrrhenian Sea, that, unlike the iconic beaches of the Amalfi Coast, it is made of fine sand instead of pebbles.Your bare feet will appreciate the detour in the more traditional itinerary. Originally named Poseidonia, – in a tribute to Poseidon, - Paestum was very important in the time of Ancient Greece and also (nctioned regularly during the heyday of the Roman Empire. However, with the advent of the Middle Ages, in the 5th century, the ci% entered a period of decline and was abandoned, something that helps to account for the preservation of its temples. It was only in the 18th century that the ruins of Paestum were discovered, and there is still a lot more to find out. From the roughly 120 hectares of the local archeological site, only 25 were excavated. !at makes us believe that Paestum’s underground is not so different from Italy: it guards many incredible surprises for (ture travelers.

One thing, however, was certain: it would be white. Moreover, perhaps what many do not know is that this tradition began in 1840 with another representative of British royalty, Queen Victoria. Until then, the garment chosen by western brides was the best one from their wardrobe. At the time, no woman could indulge in the luxury of having a piece that would be worn only once. !us, they frequently married in black or in dark colors, easier to clean and adequate for occasions like going to church or mourning. Queen Victoria herself fi#ed her dress to be used on other occasions, among them the Diamond Jubilee. However, the British queen was not the first. According to João Braga, Fashion History Professor at Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), white was involuntarily instituted by Josephine Bonaparte, Napoleon’s wife. !e reason being that for his coronation as emperor, in 1804, Napoleon sought inspiration in Roman Senators and chose white outfits to depict himself as pure and enlightened. However, the Pope re(sed to crown a couple that had not celebrated matrimony and the solution was to marry them there and then, in white. Probably inspired by her French neighbors, Queen Victoria searched for a dress that would convey to the people good sense and wisdom. At the same time, she eliminated jewels and vivid colors to make it clear to her (ture husband that she would dedicate herself to him, not as a monarch, but as a woman who loved him. It has been speculated that she also chose to value the local lace industry, and white was the best color to exhibit the artisans’ works.

e você não viveu em uma caverna afastada da civilização nos últimos 100 anos, provavelmente já se deparou com uma cadeira ou um prédio inspirado na Escola de Bauhaus. Responsável por guiar o pensamento modernista no design e na arquitetura no início do século 20, a instituição alemã comemorou seu centenário no dia 1º de abril – é verdade! – e continua presente por todos os lados. Pense em grandes janelas de vidro, móveis de aço tubular, casas pré-fabricadas e uso intuitivo das cores. Tudo isso foi idealizado por mentes visionárias, que buscavam novos conceitos de moradia e criaram uma linguagem que nos guia até hoje. A Bauhaus existiu por 14 anos em três cidades alemãs: Weimar, Dessau e a capital, Berlim. Seguir os passos da escola 100 anos após sua fundação significa entender seu sucesso, mas também as complexidades históricas da época. A instituição foi fundada em 1919, em um momento crítico, quando a Alemanha tentava se reerguer após o fim da 1ª Guerra Mundial. A taxa de desemprego era altíssima e o país, aos escombros, enfrentava um sério problema habitacional. O que era um desafio se tornou fonte de inspiração. Sob a tutela do arquiteto e fundador Walter Gropius, a Bauhaus combinou artes manuais, artes plásticas e design, os aplicando em diversas áreas do cotidiano. Os alunos eram ensinados por gran-

Bauhaus existed for 14 years in three German cities: Weimar, Dessau and the German capital Berlin. Following the school’s footprints 100 years a$er its foundation is akin to understanding its success, but also the historical complexities of the time. !e institution was founded in 1919, at a critical moment, when Germany tried to get back on its feet a$er the defeat in World War I. Unemployment was extremely high and the country, in rubbles, faced a very serious housing crisis. !at challenge became a source of inspiration. Under the guidance of architect and founder Walter Gropius, Bauhaus combined manual arts, studio art and design, applying them to many areas of daily living. The pupils were instructed by great masters, like Swiss painters Paul Klee and Johannes I#en, Russian painter Wassily Kandins& and Ger-

A influência da Bauhaus no mundo contemporâneo vai da arquitetura planejada de Brasília às linhas !ncionais e ao visual clean dos produtos Apple.
ARQUITETURA E HISTÓRIA A Bauhaus !ncionou no período entre guerras, mudou de sede duas vezes e só fechou após a ascensão do Terceiro Reich, em 1933. E cada cidade que abrigou a escola guarda suas particularidades. Em Weimar, por exemplo, o prédio de paredes amarelas e telhado envidraçado é uma construção em art nouveau, que guarda em seu interior tesouros como o escritório reconstruído de Walter Gropius, murais com desenhos geométricos do austríaco Herbert Bayer e uma escada em espiral cercada por pinturas humanas abstratas, do alemão Oskar Schlemmer. Weimar possui atualmente cerca de 70 mil habitantes e, além da Bauhaus, foi a terra do escritor Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, do poeta, filósofo e médico Friedrich Schiller, e do pianista Franz Liszt. Parte da visita à Bauhaus inclui um tour pelo bucólico parque vizinho à escola onde está a Haus Am Horn, casa modernista construída em 1922 como protótipo dos experimentos de Walter Gropius e Carl Fieger – e sob pressão do governo da República de Weimar, patrocinadora da escola estatal à procura de soluções para a crise de moradia no país. Em 1925, a escola se mudou para Dessau, também da Alemanha Oriental, alinhada ao governo social democrata da cidade e contando com o apoio da indústria. Bauhaus’ influence in the contemporary world ranges from the planned architecture of Brasília to the (nctional lines and clean look of Apple products.
ARCHITECTURE AND HISTORY
!e Bauhaus school was operational in the interwar years, changed its headquarters twice and was only shut down a$er the rise of the !ird Reich, in 1933. Moreover, each ci% that housed the school has its own particularities. In Weimar, for example, the building of yellow walls and glass ceiling is an Art Nouveau construction, that guards treasures like the reconstructed office of Walter Gropius, murals with geometric drawings by Austrian Herbert Bayer and a spiral staircase surrounded by German artist Oskar Schlemmer’s abstract human paintings. Weimar currently has around 70 thousand inhabitants and, besides Bauhaus, it was also the birthplace of writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, of poet, philosopher and physician Friedrich Schiller and of pianist Franz Liszt. Part of the visit to Bauhaus includes a tour through the bucolic park neighboring the school where stands Haus Am Horn, Modernist house constructed in 1922 as a proto%pe of Walter Gropius’s and Carl Fieger’s experiments – and under the pressure of the Weimar Republic government, which sponsored the state-owned school in the search for solutions to the country’s housing crisis. In 1925, the school moved to Dessau, also in Eastern Germany, aligned with the ci%’s Social Democrat government and counting with the support of industry. Many works drawn by Gropius, like the school’s building, the Master Houses – houses built to (nction as living quarters for the professors –, the popular housing district of Törten and restaurant Kornhaus can be found there. During World War II, 80% of Dessau was bombed and the house where Gropius lived was destroyed.

Beginning in 1996, however, there was a great movement for reconstruction and restoration of buildings for public visitation. !e home of Bauhaus’s founder was reconstructed according to the original design and today shelters art residencies and exhibits. Insofar as the school’s building in Berlin is concerned, to where the institution moved in 1932 due to Nazi persecution, it did not have the same luck: it was destroyed and no longer exists. For the 100 years of Bauhaus, the Germans prepare an extensive program of lectures and exhibits, as well as the total renovation of the Bauhaus-Archiv, in Berlin, and the inauguration of two new museums, in Weimar and Dessau, with contemporary architectural projects. !ey will house part of the school’s remaining legacy, collected over decades. One can safely say that Bauhaus’s influence will outlive these first hundred years by far.

Durante a 2ª Guerra Mundial, 80% de Dessau foram bombardeados e a casa onde Gropius morava foi destruída. A partir de 1996, no entanto, houve um grande movimento de reconstrução e restauro dos prédios para visitação pública. O lar do fundador da Bauhaus foi reconstruído de acordo com o desenho original e hoje abriga residências de arte e exposições. Já o prédio da escola, em Berlim, para onde a instituição se mudou em 1932 devido à perseguição nazista, não teve a mesma sorte: foi destruído e sumiu do mapa. Para os 100 anos da Bauhaus, os alemães preparam uma extensa programação de palestras e exposições, além da total renovação do Bauhaus-Archiv, em Berlim, e da inauguração de dois novos museus, em Weimar e em Dessau, com projetos arquitetônicos contemporâneos. Eles abrigarão parte do espólio remanescente da escola, reunido ao longo das décadas. Ao que tudo indica, a influência da Bauhaus vai permanecer para muito além desse primeiro centenário.

A capital japonesa desbancou potências gastronômicas, como Nova York, Paris e Los Angeles, alcançando a marca de 230 restaurantes contemplados com uma ou três estrelas, sendo que dois terços deles são especializados na culinária local. Engana-se, porém, quem imagina que a especialidade japonesa se limita a sushis e sashimis. Em meio ao adensamento populacional e aos arranha-céus típicos de uma cidade tão cosmopolita como Tóquio, pulsam restaurantes que atraem pela comida intensa e saborosa, e que se preocupam em valorizar cada ingrediente – requisitos !ndamentais da gastronomia japonesa quente. Mas não é só no Japão que a culinária quente local tem atraído cada vez mais apaixonados. Em Nova York, por exemplo, o concorrido Momo!ku Noodle Bar, em East Village, mal abre suas portas e já vê todas as mesas ocupadas e uma fila de espera do lado de fora. ESSE TAL UMAMI A despeito do que é di!ndido popularmente, o paladar percebe não apenas quatro, mas cinco gostos: doce, salgado, azedo, amargo e umami. Difícil de descrever, esse último é responsável por realçar os sabores naturais, dar continuidade ao gosto dos ingredientes e destacar os sabores sem a necessidade de sal, gordura ou açúcar. Não à toa, a palavra umami vem do japonês e significa “saboroso”.

THE SO-CALLED UMAMI
In spite of what popular belief says, the palate perceives not four, but five different tastes: sweetness, saltiness, bi#erness, sourness and umami. Hard to describe, the last one is responsible for highlighting natural flavors, making the taste of ingredients linger on and emphasizing flavors without using salt, grease or sugar. It is not by chance that the Japanese word umami translates as “tas%”. Currently considered the fi$h (ndamental taste, umami was discovered in the 20th century, but was only recognized by the scientific community as a “taste” in 2000. In Brazil, it was popularized through Ajinomoto, used as a seasoning rich in monosodium glutamate, component that gives a form to umami.

Na conexão Nova York-Tóquio proliferam restaurantes e izakayas (semelhante a um boteco japonês) versados em servir lámens, udons, guiozas, tempurás, yakitori, karaage, takoyaki, okonomiyaki e outros pratos quentes. Ainda assim, há quem desconheça essa faceta da culinária oriental e, por isso, deixe de experimentar receitas que melhor representam a maior distinção da gastronomia japonesa frente às outras: a evidência constante dos cinco gostos. Cinco?
Atualmente firmado como quinto gosto !ndamental, o umami foi descoberto no século 20, mas só ganhou reconhecimento da comunidade científica como “gosto” a partir de 2000. No Brasil, foi popularizado através do Ajinomoto, usado como tempero rico em glutamato monossódico, componente responsável por dar vulto ao umami. Para Telma Shiraishi, chef à frente do Aizomê, em São Paulo, destacar o gosto umami é a grande diferença da gastronomia japonesa em relação à ocidental: “Ele dá uma pro!ndidade de sabores e torna tudo mais complexo. Um ingrediente com muito umami dispensa acréscimos. Ou seja, tem muito a ver com a simplicidade da cozinha japonesa”, ensina. Telma explica que a culinária japonesa quente é conhecida por avivar o umami, presente em ingredientes constantes nas receitas, como cogumelos, algas, katsobushi (flocos de atum-bonito seco), mirim, saquê, missô e shoyu. O umami também está presente no caldo dashi, preparado normalmente com algas marinhas e que serve de base da culinária japonesa. Ele é usado nos lámens, nas sopas missô, para cozinhar ou mesmo temperar insumos. Do caldo provém um intenso gosto umami, decorrente principalmente da combinação de dois umamis juntos, que podem ser alga marinha e cogumelos, por exemplo.

For Telma Shiraishi, chef helming Aizomê, in São Paulo, highlighting the umami taste is the great difference between Japanese and Western cuisine. “It gives a depth to flavors, making everything more complex. An ingredient with lots of umami dispenses increments. In other words, it has a lot to do with the simplici% of Japanese cuisine,” she teaches. Telma explains that a characteristic of hot Japanese cooking is that it kindles the umami present in common recipe ingredients like mushrooms, algae, katsuobushi (dried skipjack tuna), mirin, sake, miso and soy sauce. Umami is also present in dashi broth, usually made with algae and which serves as the basis for Japanese cooking. It is used in ramen, miso soups and to cook or season ingredients. !e broth unleashes an intense umami taste, which comes mainly from the combination of two different umami, which can be algae and mushrooms for example.
DISCIPLINE AND GREAT TECHNIQUE
Besides highlighting the five tastes, Japanese cooking is also founded on the pro(sion of different techniques, used to add value to ingredients. In the episode of the Netflix show “Chef’s Table” profiling N/Naka restaurant, in Los Angeles, Chef Niki Nakayama explains that using different techniques is one of the bedrocks of kaiseki cooking. “Kaiseki means using the best available ingredients without spoiling textures and flavors, applying distinct cooking methods to highlight them,” she explains. Rigorous precision and discipline rule Japanese cooking. !ere are a myriad cuts (diagonal, using extremely thin blades, in exact circles), cooking techniques (in low temperature, in sizzling fire), methods for washing the rice without breaking the grain and countless ways to preserve canned goods. !e list is unending and gives origin to dishes that use the same ingredients, but in different presentations, proving that there is life and flavor in Japanese cooking beyond sushi.

Before taking four laps in the circuit of Kyalami with the new Porsche 911 Turbo S, the anxie% to accelerate that 580 hp super sports car was only inferior to an existential question: a$er five decades, would the super sports car have reached its limit? Years later, with the launch of the 911’s eighth generation, it would be easy to understand that there are no limits for the German brand. Five minutes before entering the track where Nelson Piquet celebrated his second Formula 1 title, on October 15, 1983, the German engineer and product director of that particular 911, August Achleitner, reflected: “!e changes in these 52 years were necessary to accommodate technological and hardware developments that necessarily accompany it. But the current model is next to the size limit for a sports car.” Porsche’s biggest symbol had started to augment its proportions for six generations. It reached 4.51m in length and 1.88m in width – dimensions superior to the 4.29m in length and 1.77m in width of the first model of the Turbo series, launched in 1974. However, it was not only a question of centimeters: reaching 100 km/h took it only 2.9 seconds and

Anos depois, com o lançamento da oitava geração do 911, seria fácil entender que não há limites para a marca alemã. Cinco minutos antes de eu entrar na pista onde Nelson Piquet celebrou o bicampeonato de Fórmula 1, em 15 de outubro de 1983, o engenheiro alemão e chefe do projeto daquele 911, August Achleitner, refletia: “As mudanças nesses 52 anos foram necessárias para comportar avanços tecnológicos e o hardware que obrigatoriamente o acompanha. Mas o atual modelo está próximo do tamanho limite para um esportivo.” O maior símbolo da Porsche vinha alastrando suas proporções havia seis gerações. Chegava aos 4,51 m de comprimento e 1,88 m de largura – dimensões superio-

res que os 4,29 m de comprimento e 1,77 m de largura do primeiro modelo da série Turbo, lançado em 1974. Mas não se tratava apenas de centímetros: alcançar os 100 km/h lhe custava apenas 2,9 segundos e a velocidade máxima era de 330 km/h. Seria possível ser ainda mais rápido? O corpo humano aguentaria tanta violência? A resposta veio logo: ao fim daquelas quatro voltas, senti o que é flertar com os limites do cérebro, do globo ocular e dos pulmões. À medida que a velocidade aumentava, e aumentava brutalmente rápido, sentia a força G no estômago. Surpreendentemente (ou não), meia hora depois, na parte civilizada do teste na rua, o 911 Turbo S parecia outro carro: dócil, silencioso e confortável. Passaram dois anos e meio até que eu reassumisse o volante de um 911, desta vez o modelo Targa GTS. Depois de conhecer o museu da Porsche, em Stu"gart, dirigiria 1,4 mil km para assistir as 24 Horas de Le Mans. Me acomodei nos bancos revestidos em couro Alcântara e a posição de guiar naturalmente perfeita do quinquagenário

It took two and a half years until I put my hands on the steering wheel of a 911, this time the Targa GTS model. After visiting the Porsche museum, in Stu#gart, I would drive 870 miles to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I adjusted myself in the leather-trim with Alcantara and the naturally perfect driving position of the 50-year old coupe called for a few electrical adjustments. In the intuitive multimedia central, I %ped “Le Mans”. I wheeled around Porscheplatz under the rain and thus the journey began.

A marca promete que a versão estreante, Carrera S, não passará dos R$ 700 mil. Como não reverenciar um esportivo que se mantém fiel ao conceito original há 55 anos? Que é um dos carros mais rápidos do mundo, mas ainda assim versátil o bastante para ser usado no dia a dia (tente ir ao trabalho todos os dias com uma Ferrari ou uma Lamborghini e você entenderá)? Que presta tributo ao 911 de 1964 no grafismo do conta-giros analógico e no logotipo da tampa do motor?

We soon reached the autobahns, the German roads that have no speed limits in certain spots. !e only thing that was needed was the magic “free veloci%” signs for the Panamera to soar. Stepping down on the gas, the 911 started an implacable search. On the curves, at over 200km/h, the coupe approached the big sedan, asking for passage. Summarizing: it is for the 911 that my heart aches for these days.

Now Porsche will launch the eighth generation of the 911 sports car, renamed 992, which will land in Brazil on the first semester. !e brand promises that the new version, Carrera S, will be sold for less than R$ 700 thousand. Impossible not to revere a sports car that has been faith(l to the original concept for 55 years. One of the world’s fastest cars, but still with enough versatili% to be used on a daily basis (try going to work every day on a Ferrari or a Lamborghini and you will understand me)? !at pays homage to the 1964 911 in its analogical tachometer graphics and in the logo on the engine cover? For this new generation, 80% of the MMB platform has been altered and the application of aluminum in the bodywork increased from 30 to 63%, leaving the 911 lighter

E bastava o sinal mágico de velocidade liberada para o Panamera disparar. Pé !ndo no acelerador, o 911 começava uma busca implacável. Nas curvas, acima dos 200 km/h, o cupê encostava no grande sedã, pedindo passagem. Resumo: é pelo 911 que a saudade daqueles dias aperta.
Nessa nova geração, 80% da plataforma MMB foram alterados e a aplicação de alumínio na carroceria aumentou de 30% para 63%, deixando o 911 mais leve e seguro. O motor 3.0 de seis cilindros também ganhou melhorias, como turbos maiores, e agora chega a 450 cv e 54 kgfm de torque. Já o câmbio automatizado de dupla embreagem (PDK) saltou de sete para oito marchas. A cabine talvez seja o que mais evidencie a coerência do 911 com os novos tempos. O painel tem duas telas de 7 polegadas, que visualmente parecem se conectar com a central multimídia de 10,9 polegadas. Um dos recursos mais interessantes desse novo 911 é o modo de condução Wet, que contém os ímpetos do motorista na chuva. Ao detectar que o piso está molhado, um alerta acende no painel, sugerindo que o condutor selecione tal configuração – o que anestesia a sensibilidade do acelerador e deixa controles de tração e estabilidade no nível máximo. Em 45 anos de história, não houve um 911 que não superasse o anterior – por sua vez, sempre esportivos especiais. Its first version was erected in 2004, after the glaciers started melting so fast that crossing the region by foot ceased to be an option. In 2009, it was rebuilt with stabilizing cables to resist the strong winds. Besides, a cable car was also installed to take tourists up to the bridge to witness its dazzling view of typically Swiss landscapes.

Concluída em 1932, ela oferece um camarote sobre os penhascos fragmentados do vale e a imensidão do Oceano Pacífico. Não é à toa que a estrutura em arco se tornou um dos pontos mais fotografados da região, com direito a estacionamentos próximos repletos de turistas.

Por ali aconteceram diversas disputas geopolíticas ao longo dos séculos, o que pode explicar a construção tão tardia da ponte, concluída apenas em 1973.

É o que o avanço da telemedicina e da inteligência artificial irá proporcionar. Conversar por vídeo com uma equipe médica no outro lado do mundo, a qualquer hora, para realizar consultas virtuais, deve virar rotina. Além disso, uma série de aparelhos portáteis já fornecem diagnósticos em tempo real, facilitando a prevenção de doenças. Professor e doutor em Informática Médica pela USP, Chao Lung Wen projeta a ampliação da telemedicina preventiva, personalizada e de precisão, aliada à Internet móvel 5G e à Internet das Coisas (IoT). “Não será possível oferecer a universalização da saúde sem utilizar a telemedicina e a IoT”, defende. Entre os dispositivos mais populares já em uso, por exemplo, o Apple Watch monitora batimentos cardíacos e compartilha os dados com o médico do usuário. Na medicina do futuro, nossas roupas e acessórios estarão conectadas com os hospitais em tempo real. Recentemente, a empresa francesa Chronolife apresentou um colete que consegue identificar com antecedência os riscos de um ataque cardíaco. In Brazil, the center for technological innovation of São Paulo’s Hospital das Clínicas, Inova HC, is helming the project Hospital 4.0. !e international IoT platform will integrate management and control of equipment and diagnosis as well as appointments and virtual examinations. “Once implemented, Hospital 4.0 will allow patients to receive a be#er quali% service at a cheaper cost,” highlights Ivisen Lourenço, HC’s marketing and innovation manager. Giants, like Apple, Google and even Nokia, are increasingly investing in the development of technological health gadgets, like glasses, watches and apps. Moreover, and although it is a 1280page trilogy, it is a page-turner. It is hard not to be entangled by such an unreal and enthralling story.
