Penny Ward Ready-made Embellishments “I had recently purchased the My Mind’s Eye brad along with the matching rickrack ribbon, and I wanted to make a trendy little something with my new supplies. This is how it came together!”
Lin Brandyberry Color Media “Using the new stamp set Lots of Dots from Simon Says Stamp, I chose some ink colors that I thought would look nice together and stamped lots of the solid dots and circles. To add to the circle theme, I dry-embossed the stamped panel with an embossing folder and added some round sequins for more pops of color.”

Tyra Babington Metal, Cork, & Wood “I created this card with my husband in mind. He is an awesome husband, dad, brother, and friend. He also likes clean and simple cards that get to the point. The textured paper, faux cork washi, unpainted wood heart, and metal circle have a simple, unfinished quality that together works very well.”
Iwona Palamountain General Crafts “After I settled on the image I wanted to use for this card, I designed the theme and color around it. In my mind, I had an image of a cozy cottage in the woods, surrounded by crisp and sparkly snow. This is the result of that image in my head.”

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking
Donna Mikasa Stickers & Tape “I combined two favorite trends— feathers and washi tape—to create my clean and simple card. I was tempted to add enamel dots or sequins, but I decided to let the washi tape take the spotlight!”

Photo Tricks Gradient Photos Use color to capture the mood in your photo.
Although the simple elegance of a black and white photo can deďŹ nitely stand alone, the addition of a color gradient can create a hint of personality. A brown or sepia gradient provides a warm look where a violet gradient has a retro feel. Play with various colors until you achieve the mood or feel your photo is portraying.
Gradient Map does not apply a light to dark effect from top to bottom on your photo. Rather it takes the dark portions of your photo and replaces it with the darkest color on the gradient map and the lightest places in your photo with the lightest color. The end result is a colorized photo using the selected color.

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking
STEP 1: Open black and white photo in Photoshop Elements. Click on the foreground color picker and choose a dark color. Leave background color white.
STEP 2: Click on the half white, half dark circle above the Layers palette and choose Gradient Map.
STEP 3: Click the dark to white color gradient (it will be the ďŹ rst one shown). The color appears on your photo.
STEP 4: Flatten image and save.
To use a different color than black and white, select the color in STEP 1. These steps work with a color photo as well. You do not need to convert to black and white ďŹ rst.
