Here are the projects that caught our eye in this issue.
"
I’m bewitched by Karolyn Loncon’s spooky card. She expertly die-cut a silhouette scene perfect for the season. Enjoy all the Halloween projects starting on p. 38!”
"
Editors
Carrie Ferrier stitched up this homey card that’s reminiscent of a cozy quilt. Using a variety of stitches and fabric, her card exemplifies the warmth you’ll feel after reading our fantastic stitching feature. We’ve even provided a stitching guide to get you started!”

–Susan R. Opel, Creative Editor
–Holly Anderson, Editor
"
I couldn’t agree more with Kalyn Kepner’s Life is Sweet sentiment on p. 57. You want to know what else is sweet? Painting small wood veneer shapes and creating your own sweet card design.”
p.53

"
Tessa Wise’s Ampersand Thank You card caught my eye for two reasons. First, the ampersand is the perfect shape; round in all the right places. Second, the subtleness of the ampersand; I love that you know it is there, but it isn’t overpowering. It makes me happy!”
–Kerri Miller, Managing Editor
I think everyone loves quick and easy, and these printables by Deena Boese are both! Print on sticker paper, trim, and share the fun with friends and family this Halloween.” –Jennifer Schaerer, Editor-in-Chief

Conversations We asked and you answered. Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine You know you’re a paper crafter when… Sandy Hearn You never throw away anything that could be reused on a scrapbook page: used gift tags, ribbon, buttons, brightly colored feathers from the duster, etc. Kimberly Crawford You have glitter on your face, enamel dots on your shirt, and foam square backings all over your house. Natalie Kennedy You never have to go to the store to get supplies for a child’s school project because you have all the paper, glue, glitter, stickers, paints, and markers you’d ever need already sitting in your craft room ready to go. Lisa Taylor-Vences You have to visit the craft/ scrapbooking stores when on vacation! Pam Ratcliff You describe an outfit to a friend by using the names of your favorite ink pads. Charlie Johansen Your husband smiles at the lady in the craft shop and says “Do call us if you need anything—we just might have it in stock” on the way out. Tarynne Wise You take a shower and find a pop dot and washi tape on the bottom of your foot. Nicole Francione You buy a book of patterned paper because you liked it so much only to bring it home and find that the reason why you liked it so much is because you bought it already.

Gold has proven itself to be a color for all seasons and occasions, but it’s especially warm and glitzy for autumn. This Golden Glitz ink from Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko is smooth and buttery and oh-so-easy to work with. To create this glamorous fall card, I stamped the leaves and then heat-set them with clear embossing powder for extra shine.

Halloween photos can sometimes be dark and scary. I love the Trick or Treat collection from Bella Blvd because of the fun accents and bright colors. The die-cut pieces make putting your layout together a snap. After Halloween is over, be sure to use the versatile reverse sides of the papers for other non-Halloween themed projects.

A trend I’ve really loved lately is the hello trend. From stamps to dies to printed paper, it seems like a lot of manufacturers are releasing products that feature this perfect greeting. I love this die because it’s different. Not only does it have a speech bubble as part of its design, but also its larger size makes it perfect to use on cards or scrapbook pages.

I have two very different design styles when it comes to card making. Sometimes my “fun and cute” style fights a little bit with my “clean and graphic” side, so I love when they come together and play nice. These studs are modern and dimensional, but using a handwritten font brings a sweetness I just love to the card. Don’t be afraid to mix two different design styles on your next project; it just might be the spark you need!
