Project Statement ‘Zombies Are the New Vampires’ is an article reflecting on past movies in which zombies are described to be replacing the roll of vampires in films. The editorial needs an illustration based on the topic and reflects the subject. My goal is to create an illustration based on the content. In addition, I intend to implement humor for needed affect.
Creative Brief My goal for this project is to implement an image that resembles the feeling of the editorial that I have chosen. ‘Zombie’s Are the New Vampires’ is an article about how zombies have taken over the movie scene. In doing so, they have left vampires in the dust. By understanding this, I intend to create a funny, cartoon-like interpretation of the situation. The topic of this article is based on past popular zombie and vampire movies. The movies are then critiqued by the author, which gives insight on his feelings. The audience for this editorial and the artwork that I am creating is focused towards teenagers to young adults. Humor is huge factor that I am trying to implement and should reflect in the viewer. The reader should feel that the reasons behind the author’s opinions are legitimate and that they reflect humor and accuracy through the artwork. The purpose of this editorial and the artwork involved is to express that zombies are taking over for vampires in movies. This project should take between 4-6 hours depending on the speed at which I work. Research, sketching, comps, final, and the compilation of all are taken in to account.
