THE DEATH OF GOD

cclesiastes reminds us that there is a time to be born and a time to die (Eccl. 3:2). But why will all men and women die? The biological answer is the laws of nature! The Biblical answer is that sin is the cause of death. Paul says that since all men and women have sinned, then all will die (Gen. 2:27; Rom.3:23). Our question this season is: If sin is the cause of death (Rom. 6:23) and Jesus was sinless (2 Cor. 5:21), then why did He die? That Jesus died is a fact of history. The Jewish leaders charged Jesus of blasphemy and they wanted Him dead. Of course, charging God of claiming He is God is ironic. The Romans condemned Jesus to die on the cross at the instigation of the Jewish leaders on charge of treason against the Empire. Yet Jesus rejected the offer of the people to make Him their king. To Jesus, the reason why He cannot avoid death on the cross was for the remission of sins and guilt. This is a statement of theology. Christ died as our substitute by taking our place before God to receive the punishment that was due us. Jesus took our sins upon Himself and through His atonement made us recipients of God’s righteousness. This substitution is inescapable because man and woman cannot save themselves. The sinless Jesus paid the full penalty of sin so that repentant sinners will live. This truth is succinctly summed up by German Theologian Zacharius Ursinus , “God grants and credits to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ, as if I had never sinned nor been a sinner, as if I had been perfectly obedient as Christ was obedient for me.” But if Jesus is God, how could He die? The answer lies in Christ’s nature as God-man. He is both Infinite as God and finite as man. Yet He is One Person (Jn. 1:1).The Bible says that Jesus was made sin for humanity (2 Cor. 5:21) so that He can die for the curse of sin that is due every one (Isa. 53:6; 1 Cor. 3:11). Yet, Jesus is also God and Infinite. As such, death has no hold on Him. He said “I lay down my life – only to take it up again. No one take it from me, I lay it down on my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again” (Jn. 10:17-18; 2:19-21). This mystery defies human understanding. Christ’s death, moreover, was the fulfillment of prophecy (Isa. 53:46). The cross was His messianic vocation. He was the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world (Jn. 1:29). Jesus was also the Messiah-Mediator who secured for believers the “not guilty” and “no condemnation” verdict from God (Rom. 8:1). Sinners who confessed their sins and put their faith in Christ’s penal substitution for them are forever free. The cross was where God’s love satisfied God’s justice. As John puts it, “God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes shall not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16). Christ death was the death of our death. When in our mind’s eye, we look at Christ nailed on the cross, we mournfully declare : I did that to You and You did that for me. But, then, Jesus rose from the grave! He is alive! His death was His triumph! And His promise is for us who believe, “Because I live, you will live also” (Jn. 14:19). We now have peace, access and rest with God, here and hereafter. Erich Gonzales admits she gets death threats because of her role as Janine

s the Primetime Bida series Two Wives ends its five-month run, Erich Gonzales admitted that playing the role of Janine Arguello really tested her as an actress. “Unang-una first time kong gumanap ng bida-kontrabida at masasabi ko napakachallenging ng role niJanine para sa akin dahil ang daming hugot sa buhay, ang dami niyang angst. Kasi nung una tahimik lang siya tapos biglang sumabog, naging palaban. Being a Christian we should develop our craft or master our trade, we should develop it, dig it, & expand it. The Christian life is a life long process. Athletes are determine to finish the race no matter what it cost. Athletes are willing to train extra miles, they’re discipline, they study very hard, they read a lot of books, they listened to a good teaching in order for them to be a winner. They set goals

for themselves & push themselves toward to finish they’re goals. We need more mentors a Godly mentors to grow as an individual as the book of proverbs says in 15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. No matter how hard we might work on those things, however, none of this is possible without the enabling of the Holy Spirit within us. Christian maturity requires a radical reordering of one’s priorities, changing over from pleasing self to pleasing God and learning to obey God. The key to maturity is consistency, perseverance in doing those things we know will bring us closer to God. Our salvation from The Lord is free. But growth we must earn it, we must dig it, we must master it”. If we truly encountered The Lord there is for sure growth & we know it. t the press announcement for his newest show Someone To Watch Over Me held last March 4, Richard Yap admitted he is both excited and nervous to be working with reigning Kapamilya teleserye queen Judy Ann Santos.“Nung nalaman ko na si Miss Judy Ann medyo kinabahan

kasi siyempre you’ll be working with the queen of teleseryes. Sabi ko, ‘Kaya ko ba ito?’ pero hopefully I’ll do my best. Kanina lang was the first time I saw her but I heard so many good things about her. I know na ang bait niya kasama so I have no apprehensions. With Miss Judy Ann at my side, I don’t think I have anything to be worried about. I’ve heard many good things about her so I’m looking forward to working with her on this project. The 47-year-old actor plays the role of a businessman in this new series which he said will be a light drama with a little action in between. Judy Ann plays the role of a single mom and NBI agent. “Hindi naman siguro matindi preparations namin dito kasi medyo light nga so it’s not so far from the characters that I’ve played before. Medyo may konting bali lang. Actually it’s not a very dramatic series. It’s more of a light romantic and action-packed series siguro so hindi ganun ka-dramatic,” he shared. Richard said he might even have some action scenes in his newest project. “Meron sigurong konti. Pero not as much as yung kay Miss Judy Ann,” he added. During the Someone To Watch Over Me event, the press couldn’t help but ask Richard if he had spoken to his former Be Careful With My Heart co-star Jodi Sta. Maria. Jodi’s constant

date Jolo Revilla was rushed to the hospital last March 1 for a self-inflicted accidental gunshot wound to the chest. The commercial modelturned-actor said he has not spoken to her since the unfortunate incident happened. “No, si Jodi kasi is also in some way she’s also very private. Ako naman I don’t want to intrude on her privacy so kung ano lang ang gusto niyang sabihin sa akin, that’s the only time I talk to her. Pero if she doesn’t ask for my opinion I don’t want to give it,” he admitted. Richard said he has also kept a safe distance from Jodi so their friendship even after the show would not be misinterpreted by the public. “Ayoko naman mag-send ng wrong signals because there are some people who are insisting that there is something going on between us, yung mga nasa Twitter and all that. I don’t want to send people the wrong signal. I just try to keep away as much as possible. Kung magkita lang kami or if she communicates with me, pero ayoko naman makialam. Of course mahirap yung situations like this but I know that she has a very good support system so I know that she can get through this,” he said. Now that they are being given separate projects, Richard said he is confident she is focused enough to survive this ordeal. “She’s very strong in her faith with the Lord right now so she draws her strength from the Lord, everything will be alright and I hope that Jolo

Sa Instagram, ‘Kim, kailan ka ulit namin maririnig?’ Kasi sa mga shows ko abroad nagu-guitar ako, so parang, ‘Album na, album na’, ayun. I am very happy sa Star Records na binigyan ako ng offer and I am very happy and very excited na bumalik sa music.” Aminado si Kim na kahit na nakapagrelease na siya ng isang matagumpay na record album noon, iba na ang pressure na nararmdaman niyang ngayon ay magkaka-album na siyang muli, “Yeah, sa eight years na yun ang daming nangyari sa buhay ko. Merong ‘Wala Man Sa Iyo Ang Lahat’, ‘Darating din’, ‘Say Whatever’ para sa basher ko, inuunahan ko na sila kaya makinig na lang sila sa kantang ito, all kinds of life and after nila pakinggan itong kantang ito, masaya sila, parang bright world.” Kuwento din ni Kim, kasama sa kanyang album ang version 2.0 ng hit song niya dati na “Crazy Love”.
