The „Bergfest“ at the Berg Fidel in Münster, Germany could not have been any better. 27 degrees celsius, blue skies, sunshine and around 800 visitors were all there on Saturday, June 13th 2009 for the first „Bergfest“. As if everybody had been waiting just for this the event the amount of people wanting to watch and participate in the bowl, pool and street contest was incredible. Just over 50 skaters were at the start as everybody agreed that this skateboard contest at the Berg Fidel was long overdue.

Only the amount of beer consumed during the day could match the number of different tricks that could seen. Bowls, beer and rock n roll was the theme of the day. And there was a major reason to enjoy the day - the deepest hole in Münster just turned 20 years old and you have to raise your glas of whatever you‘re drinking to that! And even better: put the just-turned-40 year old Anders Tellen in there for the pool best trick contest, let him show you how to do a frontside tailslide transfer over the channel to revert and then you know the crowd is going wild. The atmosphere was just mad with the crowd pushing in close around the Monster Bowl to catch a piece of the action. Scenes like this were last seen back in the good old days during the Münster Monster Masterships. Filip Labovic knew how to entertain the crowd as well by winning the Battle of the Bergrail contest with a FS Heelflip over the rail. He happily took away the two crates of beer for his first place. The Bowl Junior Cup started up early in morning and ran in two heats and a final deathmatch. A travel coupon from U-Travel worth 200 Euros and loads of prizes from Bones and TSG (sponsored by 24/7 Distribution) were up for grabs. Tom Schulze from Münster stole away first place in this group by convincing the judges with nice airwalks and stylish nosegrabs. The King of the Bowl contest offered a trophy plus six crates of beer which really attracted the skaters attention as the weather was hot and making them thirsty. And the end it was a tie for first between Thilo Nawrocki and Kevin Wenzke with great skateboarding being shown from both. And to round it all of the musical side of the weekend was represented in the typical Thrasher style with skate rock from Ramming Speed out of Boston, playing live at the bowl with fast metal riffs all in 80s style which also got the crowd jumping around with three other bands supporting. The whole event was a fantastic skateboard party which will definitely take place next year as well. Check out: www.bergfidel.com

The

Malmö Ultra Bowl conetst was a bit smaller than the past years Bowlrider contests due to the lack of big sponsors but smaller can be better or at least as good. One major change was that the contest took place in the kidney pool only. But with contestants from all over Europe and some from America heated sessions and rad skating were guaranteed. This year the weather wasn´t as good as the previous years but the rain showers weren´t lasting very long and with helping hands and some squeegees the pool was dry as quik as it got wet and the contest was on again. Thanks go out to John Magnusson and crew for organizing a fun contest and proving that you don´t need any major sponsors to do that although it might help. See you next year.

Falkenberg

Kevin Wenzke boneless boost into the sunset

F

alkenberg is a small beach town on Swedens west coast about 1 1/2 hous north of Malmö. Falkenberg had a vivid scene in the 80´s with a DIY Halfpipe and a old 70´s park that was good for some carve lines. After checking out that old 70´s park on our last trip to Göteborg we also stoped by the construction site to see what the park would look like. As Ben Schroeder and crew were in the early stages it was a little hard to imagine how the the finished park would look like. At the Malmö contest we heard that the park was finished and decided that Friday would be a good day to take a little journey to Falkenberg and check out the brand new park. Ben Schroeder did a really good job and put Falkenberg back on the skate map.
