Australia’s third largest island, Kangaroo Island sits a mere 15km from the shores of South Australia on the mainland. Spanning 155km in length by 55km in width and covering some 4,500 sq km, those who know it believe Kangaroo Island offers the best of the Australian continent on a smaller scale. ‘KI’ (as the locals call it), is celebrated for its pristine natural environment, stunning coastal landscapes and artisan food and produce. Native Australian animals including kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and echidnas can all be found in abundance, while marine mammals such as sea lions, seals, whales and dolphins make their home in surrounding waters. With twenty-one national and conservation parks, Kangaroo Island is widely known as ‘Australia’s Galapagos’.
