april 15–23
the rite of spring photo by luke isley
Groundbreaking ballets, reborn Nijinsky, the legendary dancer for the Ballets Russes, choreographed a body of work that shocked, tantalized, and inspired audiences, and redefined how we look at ballet. Now experience three modern day takes on his brilliance. Helen Pickett’s unabashedly candid Games, set to the original Debussy score, begins the program with a beautiful and complex look at a love triangle. Jerome Robbins’ captivating Afternoon of a Faun captures the mystery and romance of Debussy’s music while placing Nijinsky’s mythical tale in a ballet studio. Back by overwhelming demand, the program closes with the earthshaking athleticism of Nicolo Fonte’s The Rite of Spring. *please note: games includes mature subject matter that may not be appropriate for all audiences.
