epic weekend 10-12 august 2018 BANCHORY BEER FESTIVAL

programme 1

welcome! Welcome to MFGF Event’s 5th summer Banchory Beer Festival For those of you for whom this is your first Banchory Beer Festival, a special welcome! It’s amazing to think we are here for our 5th year and 16th festival overall. There have been lots of weddings and other smaller events in-between and we even launched a new gin festival brand in conjunction with Aberdeen Charity Friends of Anchor last November. Exciting plans are in progress to travel around the UK bringing the best Scottish gins to towns UK wide - a place we’d never thought of being when we first started. It has been an enormous ‘learning curve’ and now we are managing to stage events further afield than our HQ here in Banchory. We’ve grown with the help of you guys, our customers and on the feedback presented to us each year. It’s certainly a significant difference from our first festival back in Summer 2014. As a young company with no previous events experience we’ve learnt the hands on hard way but hopefully we are bringing you brilliant events that you are all enjoying! This year our main focus is on sharing Scotland’s brilliant gins, unique beers from the UK and supporting the local music and food scene. We love to hear from you. If you’ve any questions, please do have a chat during the festival. We know you’ll have a wonderful time here today and please remember to drink responsibly. We’d like to thank our sponsors this year for their help with the festival: Bancon Homes, Marks & Clerk, Mackie’s of Scotland, TLT Solicitors, Cherry Tree Group, NorScot Truck & Van and Dunecht 4 x 4 Garage.

GIN

TONIC TONIC TONic

Arbikie Ak’s Gin

Pickering’s 1947

42% ABV

Edinburgh, scotland Spicier, sweeter and more intense, it’s a decadent trip back to the last days of the Raj. Cardamom, coriander, clove and cinnamon spice lead to a crisp, refreshing and long finish.

43% ABV

Arbroath, scotland AK’S Gin is distilled using honey and wheat farmed at Arbikie along with black pepper, mace and cardamom. As farmers, the Stirling’s are fully aware of the importance bees play in pollinating crops. With wild bees under threat Arbikie plan to install its own hives to produce the required honey as well as pollinating the surrounding land. Coupled with growing its own Juniper, Arbikie places sustainability at its heart.

Lost Loch Distillery EeNoo

Straight forward here. The nose is Scottish berries with a creamy, smooth and natural fruitiness which leads to a mellow spice on the finish. 42.5% ABV

Wester Ross, scotland Using local gorse blossom, elderflower and wild bog myrtle the team up at Badachro say the gin reflects the pure air, water and land that defines the wilderness they are in. We think is a tip top dry gin!

Those chaps at Redcastle Brewery have set aside their hops for a hot minute and picked up some botanicals to make their own gin! Redcastle Gin features kaffir lime leaves, star anise, pink peppercorns and lots more! A lovely spicy gin.

40% ABV

Crieff, scotland Its beautiful mahogany colour hides a magical secret which can be seen with the addition of tonic. With its combination of rose and heather it takes on a Prosecco character. The colour of the gin changes when topped up with tonic. Fragrant, floral and light, sweet yet spicy.

The Teasmith GIN

43% ABV

Udny, scotland

A juniper lead gin with a very clean forestry aroma which gives lots of creamy rich vanilla sweetness with a light spice ending with a lovely crisp lime. Bold on flavour like all of McQueen’s Gin.

A careful blend of finely curated botanicals and hand-picked tea is what gives ‘The Teasmith’ its characteristic taste. Juniper, coriander, grains of paradise, orange peel and other carefully selected botanicals are distilled not once, but twice in traditional copper alembic stills. Through this delicate process of distillation, each individual ingredient is carefully blended to ensure The Teasmith is a truly unique gin, characterised by its clarity, simplicity and confidence.
