Email Ambassadors
Welcome to our E-Buddy Scheme 2017 Welcome to the Email Buddy Scheme Booklet. The scheme has been set up to give you a chance to chat with our current students. The Open Days that are held can be a bit over whelming and there may be questions that are not asked on the day. Our aim is to provide a service where you can contact our students with those forgotten important questions; from what the nightlife is like to what subjects are covered and what happens regarding exam procedures. You will have been automatically allocated an email buddy 2 weeks after you receive your letter from the School (unless you opted out) and by now they will have probably sent you an email introducing themselves. If you think you should have had that email by now but haven't, do get in touch with us by phoning 01248 382629 or by emailing psychology@bangor.ac.uk. In this booklet you will find some profiles of our current students however do please visit our website for further information and full profile details of our email ambassadors.

Name: Rebecca Jarvis Age: 20 From: Manchester Course: Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology Interests: Dance, Reading, Writing, and Music Best thing about studying at Bangor? The location. I can’t think of anywhere else where you have the beach and sea to one side, the mountains to the other and a city full of shops and cafes right in the middle. Wherever you stand, there’s always a photo-worthy view.
Name: Rebecca Fenton Age: 21 From: London Course: Psychology Interests: Swimming, Travel, Cognition, and Food!
The course... The course is great, it really is. It is taught by lecturers who are experts in their chosen field, and so you always feel like you’re getting detailed information on all aspects of a module. The support offered by the module lecturers is really good too, if you don’t understand anything, or want to explore something further, you’re free to ask them in the lecture, during their module drop-in times, or to send them an email anytime. The psychology department also has access to a wide range of technology, such as and fMRI machine, EEG, and TMS equipment, that you may be able to use when carrying out your third year project, it just makes the whole process more exciting.

Name: Rebecca Payne Age: 21 From: Leicestershire, East Midlands Course: Psychology with Child and Language Development Interests: Dance, Baking, Horse-riding, Reading, and Movies Life in Bangor... Bangor is the best choice I ever made. Although it’s a city, it’s not too big and it’s not too small. You always bump into people you know and it’s a very homely environment. There is also something for everyone. If you enjoy the outdoors you have Snowdonia and many beautiful North Wales beaches right on your doorstep, the history of North Wales with the castles in Bangor and the surrounding areas and for those who like to.
Name: Eugene Qian Wei Tee Age: 21 From: Malaysia Course: Psychology Interests: Getting to know new people and motivating them to do great things Any advice for prospective students? As long as you are doing your part as a student, you should be absolutely fine. Always be willing to go an extra mile when you are faced with difficulties and remember that you are NEVER alone. I hope your decision to come to Bangor will be your best one yet and if you have any enquiries, I will be more than willing to help you. All the best in your future endeavours!

Name: Mirain Llwyd Roberts Age: 21 From: Small village called Llangwm Near Bala Course: Psychology Interests: Creative writing and reading, Sports, Singing, and Performing Support… I’ve had a lot of support. As I’ve been studying part of the course through the medium of Welsh, I’ve had help with the Welsh terms. The School has been fantastic. Social life… The social life is full of fun, I’m currently part of the Welsh Society and I’m enjoying every second! I have also been part of the tennis society.
Name: Samantha Powell Age: 22 From: Wiltshire Course: Psychology Has studying at Bangor given you any specific opportunities? Bangor has provided what feels like unlimited opportunities for volunteering and trying new skills. I have completed so far a (free) German course, 3 volunteering placements and tried 3 new sports with the uni. However I could have done so much more! My current volunteering includes mentoring children with literacy problems at a weekend club to increase their confidence and abilities – it is so rewarding and, I believe, definitely not an opportunity I would have found at home. Also, I held a real human brain in 1st year, which was a very humbling and amazing experience – one that I most likely would not receive in other unis or ever again in my life!
