‘Bar-room Jokes!’ James Bond walks into a bar and takes a seat next to an attractive woman. He gives her a quick glance, then casually looks down at his watch. The woman next to him asks, “Is your date running late?” “No,” he replied “Q’s just given me this state-of-the-art watch and I was just testing it” Intrigued by this, the woman asks, “What does it do, Mr. Bond?” “Well you see,” said Bond, “it uses Alpha waves to telepathically talk to me” “I see” said the woman “and what’s it telling you now?” “It says you’re not wearing any knickers…” Bond says. The woman giggles and says “Well it must be broken because I’m afraid I’m wearing knickers!” 007 taps his watch and says “Damn thing must be an hour fast!” “I met my wife at a singles bar” “Really? I thought she was home with the kids” A penguin walks into a bar, he goes to the counter and asks the barman “Have you seen my brother?” The barman asks “What does he look like?”

A man is sitting in a bar when a beautiful woman walks up and whispers in his ear, “I’ll do anything you want for 50 bucks.” He puts his drink down and starts going through his pockets. He pulls out a ten, two five’s, a twenty and ten ones. He thrusts the wadded up money into the woman’s hand and says, “Here... paint my house” A mushroom walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, “I can’t serve you.” The mushroom says, “Why not? I’m a fun-guy” A skeleton walks into a bar and orders a beer and a mop A chicken walks into a bar. The bartender says “We don’t serve poultry!” The chicken says “That’s OK I just want a drink.” 20 lemmings walk into a bar. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

A kangaroo walks into a bar and orders a martini. The bartender figures that a kangaroo probably isn’t very economically aware, and charges him $50. The marsupial orders a beer next time, and is charged $60. Finally, the bartender’s curiosity gets the better of him. He casually remarks, “You know, we don’t get too many kangaroos in here.” The kangaroo replies, “At these prices, no wonder.” A Dyslexic man walks into a bra! A termite walks into a bar and says, “Is the bar tender here?” A Rabbi, a blonde, a Priest & a Vicar walk into the bar. The bartender says “is this some kind of a joke?”

Shaun Lever

Dancefloor Whore! Well folks, it’s been a good summer for clubbing music and here’s 6 of the tracks that i’m currently playing out or throwing shapes to on the dancefloors right now! I got my boogie-o-meter out and let’s see how they scored!

Katy Perry

Teenage Dream It Goes:- Like several tunes you have heard before glued together with new words, allegely. I don’t know what it is about Katy Perry’s latest material but it all sounds suspiciously like other songs in my opinion. I wouldn’t dream of accusing them of ripping off The Fray – How to save a life or Don Helney “Boys of Summer” as that would be wrong! For a pop artists it’s good to have something nice & catchy around and I think this is one of the better songs doing the rounds. Plenty of good remixes as well with Dave Aude going nice and trance on us. 78% on my boogie-o-meter

Graham Dixon

Let Me Clear My Throat (we think) ! It Goes:- Everyman & his dog knows how this old chestnut goes, but with a bass that goes bum bum, bum bum Big in Birmingham, this jackin’ sound is starting to filter it’s way up north to form a sound a little like UK Garage meets funky & electro house. This track is the epitomy of that sound. When I was first passed this MP3 I wasn’t too impressed and almost dismissed it straight away with the attitude... If you’re gonna remake a track can you not do something that hasn’t been remixed a million times over before? On listening to it, it’s a dancefloor masterpiece and the bass is so finely EQ’d that there’s a big pool of body fluids on the floor immediately after playing leaving a rather huge 92% on the boogie-o-meter

Pitbull

Give Me A Bottle It Goes:- Give me a bootle with a mutherf**kin’ cup to the tune of 7 nation army. Pitbull is to 2010 what Black Lace were to the 80’s only with much more swearing and slight sprinklings of Spanish dialogue which is funny to watch clubbers try to sing. Following on from his lyrical workout of the Nightcrawlers, he takes on The white Stripes which is guaranteed to get crowds going nuts and leaving many older clubbers asking the question “why does he have to swear so much?” or “When’s Jack White gonna start singing”. Regardless it’s a floor filler scoring a whopping 75% on the boogie-o-meter

Tim Berg & Avicci

Seek Bromance It Goes:- I will give to you the love you seek over something that sounds a bit like the theme to Rugrats! Avicci can claim two accolades apart from being one of the most popular house producers this year, one is having the worst hair cut in dance music and the other is being the most mis-spelled artist ever. Nobody quite knows who Tim Berg is, very possibly his pet rabbit. Seek Bromance is a legal bootleg apparently made by Axwell which takes the vocal from Amanda Wilson (ex Freemasons) “Love You Seek” over the top of this previous instrumental. With it’s distinct marimba (yes that’s the instrument) breakdown it’s really stood out in Ibiza and is rather catchy scoring a respectable 88% on the boogie-o-meter

MYNC Project Special Brew

It Goes:- Mix a special brew, mix a special brew, mix a special brew, mix a special brew (and so on) Not since Bad Manners in the 80’s has anyone made a track that could be so popular with serious alcoholics, yet MYNC Project turn out a beautifully driven groove out of Chaka Khan’s handbagfriendly classic “I’m every Woman”. Simple filtering of the groove and using one line repeated and tweaked means shapes being throw by glamorous clubbers. Lovely stuff! 82% on the Boogie-o-meter

Junior Sanchez HCCR & Shawnee Taylor Where You Are

It Goes:- I travelled for miles to get here, here’s where I wanna be, I’ll find you where you R R R R R R R R R R R R R R R etc!!! Then it goes nice & daft! Now this is the shizzle! Signed to Steve Angello’s Size label, massive in Ibiza this summer and quite rightly so cos it’s bloody ace! It’s built around a gorgeous piano & string pattern in a similar vain to “Leave The World Behind”. All the elements are here for a big hands in the air club anthem. The original mix is great but Angello’s rework on the package just takes the dancefloor to new levels of shape-throwage! 99% on the boogieo-meter losing one percent for having too many artists on the same track making it a pain in the arse writing it down on chart returns

Music Changed My Life Shaun Lever interviews DJ Mike Lee

This feature sees me get deep into the influences of a local DJ, musician or someone involved in music in the Tameside area. My first guest is someone whom I have had the pleasure of knowing and watching play for a long time, having got his break in Ashton’s legendary Chute Bar then holding down a residency at Venus, Mike Lee has become one of the most respected DJ’s in the area. A Record that changed your life I couldn’t really say one record changed my life, it was a cassette of a live recording from Bowlers which I heard in 1996. It was DJ Paul Taylor. I still remember every tune off it. “Higher State Of Conciousness”, “2 Fat Guitars”, “Back By Dope Demand”, “Know How” and “JJ Tribute” amongst others. It was the first time I’d really heard that kind of house music mixed in such a way and I just got a love for house music from it straight away. I started buying the tape packs from ‘Spin Inn’ in Manchester then a couple years later I started getting them on vinyl before I even owned any decks and just used to play them on the turntable on top of my parents stereo!

A Club that changed your life There’s two really as I’d have to say Tall Trees and Venus. Tall Trees because from about 2000-2003 I was just so into my UK garage that we didn’t go any house nights, then one night my mate blagged us a to go Tall Trees for his birthday and It just totally re-ignited my love for house music. Obviously Venus changed my life because since my first visit 4 years ago I fell in love with the club. I would be in there every weekend, I met some top people who are now some of my best mates and I got a residency there which I have had for nearly 3 years now.

A DJ that changed your life UK Garage legend DJ EZ. I love his style of DJ-ing. You can really feel what he is doing when he is in the mix. He calls it impact mixing as he mixes the main bits of tunes into each other. He never really has any build up, he just slams tune into tune into tune into tune! A Night that changed your life That would have to be Chute on Christmas Day night 2007. I was on after Chris Frater and Ryan Stent who were some of my idols at the time so it was a bit of a big thing playing with them. Les Paul was also in there on that night and he had a big say in booking the DJ’s at Venus at the time. Ryan & Chris said it probably the best set i’ve ever played and when Les came over afterwards and said he was blown away and that he would get me a slot at Venus, he stayed true to his word and he got me a gig the following month and the rest is history. Changes For the future Well i’ve been a bit lazy when its come to putting out mixes this year so definitely going to start making more of a effort to get one done every month, Also, i’ve got so many ideas I want to put into practice in the studio so I’m going to put some music out there. I suppose I ought to cut down on my drinking and partying when DJ-ing and be a bit more professional about it, which is hard when you are surrounded with party people but il give it my best!
