introduction

Best known for: being a scientist who discovered that you can make dye, shampoo, glue, candy and ink from peanuts.

3 Key Qualities: perseverance hardship bravery

What I find interesting Is that george can make more than 300 products from peanuts.

I wanted to study him because he's smart and likes to make things out of peanuts that helps the world he also helped farmers make their soil better.

George was born a slave in missouri in 1864. Later he and his mother were stolen, and his mother was never seen again. I think that is not fair because you would be tired and have to work for someone else and would have no money. I Think that it was sad that George had no mom or dad but he was sort of adopted by Moses and Susan, the people who took him into their home.

I read that He helped farmers get better soil because if they didn't put compost in their soil their soil would go bad and they wouldn't have anything to eat. I think that would be sad because if you ate the bad crops you would get really sick and you would probably die.

george was the first africanamerican student at his college. Why it's brave is that he was the only africanamerican student because if there were more africans he would feel better but since there are more whites he might feel uncomfortable. I think that would be scary because if the teacher is white the teacher might be mean to george and he might feel sad and want to leave.

George became the first africanamerican professor at Iowa state in 1894. He taught his students how to be a scientist and study plants, insects and rock. I think that it was important because his students could be smarter. His african-american students probably felt good because they probably felt safer with him. Africanamericans were not treated fairly then.

george wanted to do crop rotation because he knew that when you plant cotton, soil gets bad but when you plant peanuts it gets healthy. Crop rotation is when you plant something one year and then another crop another year. I think george is right to do crop rotation so the soil could be fresh, not old. HE was helping the earth by doing this.

George did experiments with peanuts. Farmers said nobody would buy them so he worked hard to prove that peanuts were useful. That is amazing because one person made more than 300 things with peanuts. I've never heard about a person who did that beofre.

George Washington Carver invented soap and shampoo so your hair will stay clean. I think that is good because if you didn't have any shampoo or soap your hair would stay dirty.

Crops were not growing properly because farmers kept planting cotton in the same soil. George invented crop rotation for healthy soil. George made people's lives better because he taught african americans how to do crop rotation.

PERSEVERED WHEN...made more than 300 things out of peanuts didn't stop.

SHOWED COMPASSION WHEN... his mom was stolen he felt sad that she didn't have a family.

TOOK ACTION BY...

MADE A DIFFERENCE WHEN..

he taught his students how to be a scientist and to study plants, insects, and rocks.

made food and other things out of peanuts to help the world by making more things so people can survive.

I'm A change maker when I keep making things out of garbage and recycled objects.i'm helping the earth.

I'm Similar to my change maker because:i like to make things like paper air planes.

My Change maker is connected to Benjamin franklin because he was an inventor too.

One year you plant one crop and then the next year you plant another one. You do this so that the soil is healthy and not bad.
