esther morris is best known for becoming the first woman judge in the united states.
born: 1814 in new york on august 8
death: 1902 in cheyenne, wyoming on april 2
Esther's mom died, in 1825 in New york, when she was 11 and her dad never remarried. when her mother died for the first time all 11 children saw their father cry. One of the articles that I read said that she was an orphan, but none of the books told us when her dad died. it was hard because their mother taught them a lot, such as how to sew a seam, and how to pour and to make tea.

esther opened a hat store in 1933 when she was 19 years old. It was unusual for a young woman to open a store and people told her that but she did it anyway.
Esther showed perserverance when her first husband died in an accident. She decided to move to illinois with her son to start over, because her husband had some property there. Her friends said, "You can't do that!" but she didn't listen, and she left. When she got there people said that she couldn't have the property because she was female.
I thought that she was very brave to move to Illinois and raise a family on her own.
Esther started attending meetings about slave rights at church. She was trying to find a way to help slaves. esther held meetings for people's rights, her rights too and for slaves' rights too. People tried to stop her meetings.

esther was compassionate When she moved to Wyoming. she helped nurse the sick and wounded, sew clothes and deliver babies.
esther was brave when she invited 13 men to her house to speak to the citizens. when they arrived, she said, "one thing i love about wyoming is how everyone is important. it takes all of us to run a town, women as well as men!" she wanted the citizens to agree to vote to give women the right to vote in wyoming.

because of esther morris, women can vote and women can be judges. women might not be able to vote and have any rights without esther.
I think that Esther inspired some women--not all women-because some thought it was crazy to vote or have jobs, but some got inspired by her.
i am similar to my changemaker because we are both are girls and like to sew and like to create things.
