Introduction Famous Quotation: America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Abraham Lincoln Best known for: he was the 16th President. He is best known for helping stop slavery and being in the Civil War.
What I find interesting: that he was the 16th president and he helped stop slavery. And he was in the Civil War.

I chose this person because... I wanted to learn more about Abraham Lincoln and how he reacted in the Civil War.
Overcame a Hardship/Challenge Abe Lincoln overcame a hardship when he ran for president because he wanted to help stop slavery. He won the election.
I think he really wanted to be president and he wanted to stop slavery.
Showed Compassion and Empathy He thought that slavery was wrong. People shouldn't be sold like tools.
I think Abe is right. People should not own other people just because some people are lazy and don't want to do the work themselves.
Took Action Abraham Lincoln made the Emancipation Proclamation. It made Southern slaves free and meant that Northern slaves could join the Union Army.
I think everyone who owned slaves hated Abe because they were too lazy to do their own work.
Persevered Abe ran for public office many times. He didn't always win. But then he finally won.
I think that he must have really wanted to be a leader in public office.
Impact: How Things are Different Today Abe Lincoln ended slavery on January 31, 1865 with the 13th Amendment.
I think this was a big deal. Slavery took away fun from people and they had a really bad life. Now people get paid for working and they can have a better
Viewed Problems as Opportunities Abe loved to read. Sometimes he walked miles and miles to borrow a book.
I think that it would be hard to walk that far for a book, but he enjoyed books and wanted to learn from them.
Demonstrated Bravery Abe's mom died when he was nine years old.
I think it would be hard if your mom died when you were nine. He would have to go to school and he'd have to be brave to live without his mom.
