Jack Pine Class May 2010 Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 near Cairo, Georgia. He grew up on a plantation and he was very poor. Jackie Met Rachel Isum at UCLA in 1940. They fell in love and got married on february 10th 1946. Jackie Robinson served in the army from 1942- 1944. The white soldiers made Jackie sit in the back of the bus. He could not be an officer because he was black. He was treated horribly.
