Introduction Famous Quotation: "Chance favors only the prepared mind" Best known for: Discovering Pasteurization, developing 2 vaccines,Anthrax and Rabies.

What I find interesting: He had a very interesting family his dad was a former soldier.

3 Key Qualities:

I chose this person because... He helped hundreds of sick people, made some amazing discoveries, and used his skills and knowledge to make the world a better place.

1.Empathy 2.Communicated/Shared 3.Viewed problems as opportunities

Overcame a Hardship/Challenge Pasteur and his wife Marie Laurent, had 5 children but 2 of them died of typhoid fever and the other died of a liver tumor. When he was in his 40s he suffered a stroke and was paralyzed for a whole night.

Showed Compassion and Empathy Joseph Meister was vaccinated for rabies because he had been bitten by a rabid dog on July 6, 1885.Pasteur saved Joseph's life.

It was kind of Louis to help Joseph because Pasteur had been really busy before the process.

Took Action Whether it was solving the problem of the sugar beet factory or developing the rabies vaccines he always did what was right and did it well and fast.

Persevered When the rabies vaccine failed, on one of the patients he tried again to make the vaccine better.

Impact: How Things are Different Today Louis Pasteur did many things in his 72 year lifetime. He developed 2 vaccines [anthrax and rabies], solved the mystery of both the sugar beet factory and the dying silkworms, and most importantly discovering pasteurization... Pasteur walking in a parade.

Viewed Problems as Opportunities When there was a problem he used it to make something better.

When the silkworms were dying he found an opportunity to research a cure for making them better.

Learned from Mistakes When Louis wanted to get into college, he failed to go and he studied harder than ever and he got in.

Communicated and Shared After he discovered something he made his discoveries open to all scientists by calling meetings and putting his ideas [and theories] in the papers.

A sketch of Pasteur at a speech.

Louis Pasteur Persevered when: He was not accepted to college.

Showed compassion when: He helped Emperor Napoleon cure France's wine.

Took action by: immediately helping Monsieur Bigo with the mystery of the spoiling beet juice.

Made a difference when: He did all those things plus much more...

Author Talk I’m a Change Maker when I...Help other people like when I teach my brothers things. I like to teach my brother Math.

I’m similar to my Change Maker when I look at sicknesses. I study books about viruses and diseases.

My Change Maker is connected to...Joseph Lister because they both were both doctors.
