The warmest of welcomes awaits you on the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay. Surrounded by stunning coast and countryside, the seaside resorts of Paignton and Torquay offers fantastic all year-round holidays for everyone. All with fine views over Torbay with its vivid blue sea and sky. As well as the beautiful coastline, our tours will show us much of Devon’s enchanting countryside.

Monday To Devon and a lunchtime stop in Exeter, full of character and ancient history.

Tours whilst at resort

A | We visit Dartmouth in its beautiful setting between steep hills and the picturesque harbour. Then a highlight of the holiday as we follow the picturesque coast road with great views of Blackpool Sands, known as nature’s golden beach with clear blue water surrounded by magnificent evergreens and pines. We also pass Slapton Sands, with its WWII tank, and Kingsbridge on a truly memorable drive. Later we stop in Totnes, a captivating town set on one of Britain’s most picturesque waterways.

Thursday We travel to Devon and make a lunch time stop in the seaside resort of Teignmouth.

Tours whilst at resort

A | We visit the world-famous Eden Project, a unique regeneration project that has transformed a scar into a global garden featuring two enormous Biomes. There is so much to see that it will fill our day.

B | We enjoy a one-hour cruise of Plymouth harbour and for the remainder of the day you have a choice: experience Plymouth yourself, or join the coach for a trip to Dartmouth. Dartmouth is a beautiful historic town situated on the west bank of the stunning River Dart in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

C | To the Lost Gardens of Heligan, amazingly discovered in 1991 under a blanket of brambles after seventy years of neglect. Many of the original plants have been rescued. In the afternoon we visit a fantastic pair of nearby fishing villages in Mevagissey and Fowey, both of which are extremely picturesque.

Monday We return home with a stop in Exmouth.

If you are looking for a laid-back, tranquil holiday without the hassle of fighting through the crowds to get to the beach, Babbacombe is a great alternative to its busier neighbours in Torbay. Affectionately known as the ‘Jewel in the crown of the English Riviera’, the beach resort of Babbacombe includes a great range of things to do and see in a quiet, laid-back setting.

Friday To the Devon coast and we make a late lunchtime stop in Dawlish, then we continue along the coast to our hotel in Babbacombe.

A | A scenic tour of Dartmoor with stops in Moretonhampstead and Tavistock. On our return you can choose between being dropped back at the hotel or spending some time in Torquay.

Ilfracombe has a picturesque harbour along with narrow streets and the North Devon coast is renowned for its unique character and spectacular scenery.

First Day We travel to Devon and stop in the historic city of Exeter. From here we follow the beautiful Taw Valley to Ilfracombe. Tours whilst at resort

A | Over Exmoor and via Simonsbath and Wheddon Cross to Dunster, perhaps its most picturesque village, where we make a short stop. We then continue to a lunchtime stop in Lynmouth. Here there is the opportunity to take the cliff railway (not included) to Lynton.

B | We have a short-day trip out to the historic harbour town of Bideford which is packed with independent shops, local produce and a picturesque quay. Then free time to explore Ilfracombe.

C | To Barnstaple on the River Taw, with its covered Victorian Pannier Market and famous ‘Butcher’s Row’. We are then in Woolacombe where magnificent scenery meets the swell of the Atlantic waves on its famous beach. It is also a lively place with lots of shops and cafes etc.

Last Day We return with a drive through the Valley of Rocks with its majestic skyline before making a stop in Minehead.

A tour combining a relaxing cruise from Exmouth with a cream tea, a railway journey, and scenic journeys over Exmoor plus time in the coastal resorts of Devon. Always popular and the tour gets off to a great start with another cream tea upon arrival at our hotel!

Monday We take a scenic route to Devon with a lunchtime stop in Cheddar Gorge. This world-famous sight is Britain’s largest gorge with dramatic cliffs rising over 450ft. On our arrival at the hotel, we are met with a Devon cream tea whilst our bags are taken to our rooms.

Tours whilst at resort

A | We travel to the south Devon coast and stop in the town of Sidmouth on the beautiful Jurassic Coast. It sits alongside this impressive coastline and has a great town centre with many local shops. In the afternoon we enjoy a boat trip from Exmouth with a cream tea.

B | We join the West Somerset Railway, Britain’s longest steam railway, at Bishops Lydeard for a twenty-mile journey of heritage railway through stunning Somerset countryside and coast. We alight at Minehead for a lunchtime stop. We also visit Porlock before returning over Exmoor to our hotel.

C | To the North Devon coast with stops in Lynmouth, where Exmoor meets the sea, and Ilfracombe. Ilfracombe has a picturesque historic harbour of quaint pastel-coloured houses, and Damien Hirst’s statue Verity standing guard at the entrance surrounded by dramatic clifftop scenery. We also drive through the Valley of Rocks with its majestic skyline. Friday We return home with a scenic drive and a stop in Bath.

Friday Great scenery as we travel cross country to the West Country with the highlight being a drive down Cheddar Gorge where we make a lunchtime stop.

Saturday Over the Blackdown Hills to the Victorian resort of Sidmouth where we enjoy a fifty-minute Jurassic coast cruise. We also have free time to explore Sidmouth. On our return we make a short stop in Budleigh Salterton, one of Devon’s most un-spoilt and charming towns.

Sunday To Quince Honey Farm for a behind-the-scenes tour to see how honey is produced and harvested. Plus of course a tasting! Then in the afternoon we visit RHS Rosemoor which is nestled in a Devon valley and blends formal and informal plantings to create a magical effect.

Monday We visit Hestercombe House and Gardens for a head gardner’s tour where we explore three centuries of garden design. We then enjoy a single journey on the famous West Somerset Railway to Minehead where we have a short stop before we return to the hotel with a scenic drive through Exmoor National Park.

Tuesday We return home with a stop in the delightful little city of Wells with its wonderful cathedral.

B | We indulge in an idyllic haven of 10-acres of ornamental gardens at Compton Acres. Our head gardener guided tour will unravel the construction, horticulture, conservation and renovation behind the five themed gardens, that now boast over 3,000 plant species, some of which grow uniquely at Compton. Following free time to explore the vast shop and café we have free time in Bournemouth.

Our hotel on the Isle of Wight is the fabulous Trouville. Centrally located on Sandown seafront with panoramic views, the feedback since 2021 has been outstanding. All twin and double rooms come with a sea view and single travellers have the option to upgrade. The Isle of Wight has stunning coastlines, gorgeous countryside, vibrant towns and award-winning attractions all on one beautiful, picturesque island. Our tours to the island are based in Sandown which shelters in a beautiful bay and is famed for its golden sandy beach and the traditional British seafront and pier.

First Day We cross by ferry to the Isle of Wight and on to our hotel. Tours whilst at resort

A | We view the magnificent coastal scenery along the south of the island as we travel to Alum Bay overlooking the Needles. Later we call in at Yarmouth with its continental atmosphere and picturesque harbour.

B | To West Cowes, beautifully set on the estuary with its busy harbour and narrow streets, and on to Newport, the island’s attractive capital at the head of the river.

C | We visit the seaside resorts of Ryde and Shanklin. Ryde is the largest town on the Island and in addition to an expanse of sandy beaches, stretching right along the town, it has a great selection of boutique shops, museums and galleries. If you would prefer, and if it is open, we can drop you at the Isle of Wight Bus Museum! Then to Shanklin, a traditional seaside town that regularly tops the charts for the number of sunshine hours and has a great beach, shops, and cafes. It also has an Old Town that is worth exploring.

D | We make a morning stop in the quintessential village of Godshill. In the afternoon to Ventnor, great beaches and a long promenade plus great shops.

Last Day A final drive across the island before catching our ferry back to the mainland.
