All rooms at our central hotel overlook the River Tyne and It is on the Quayside for exploring in the light evenings and if you wish, you might like to cross one of the many famous bridges. During this tour we tower 150 feet above sea level at Bamburgh, England’s finest coastal castle, and gaze at the iconic coastline on a cruise to the Farne Islands which are home to England’s most abundant sea-bird and seal habitats. We also have a local guide on board for a day to explore the mighty Hadrian’s Wall, the Romans’ most remarkable monument in the UK. Finally, a guided tour of Durham Cathedral, an impressive building on a clifftop overlooking the city below. A huge success in 2022 when this holiday operated for the first time.

From the castle there are stunning views of the Farne Islands, and now we go on a Farne Island Experience cruise to Inner Farne. It is a 90-minute cruise and where hopefully we will see Seals as well as the abundant bird life which includes puffins, guillemots, razorbills and much more.

Thursday Our local guide takes us on a viewing tour by coach of Hadrian’s Wall, including a stop in a famous Roman Cavalry Fort. There will also be stops in Heddon-on-the-Wall, Corbridge, Hexham and the famous viewing point of Steel Rigg.
