You can use paycards or the paybyphone.co.ukapp for parking throughout Jersey (except in Sand Street Car Park*). MONDAY TO SATURDAY (INCLUSIVE) 8.00a.m. to 5.00p.m. (08.00 to 17.00 hours) They must be used in the RED and YELLOW zones on street and in Car Parks where you see this sign pictured left.

The charge for parking on street is 1 unit per stay. The maximum time you can stay in a YELLOW zone is 20 minutes and in a RED zone its 60 minutes. There are currently a number of Residents Parking Schemes within St Helier and they are clearly signed. When parking in these areas, please look carefully at the signs to check if general parking is permitted and if you will need a display paycard. Parking in these areas is chargeable during the evenings and also on Sundays. In Car Parks the charge is variable and you should take a look for the Signs at the entrance and within each car park for details of charges and maximum permitted stay rules. Several car parks are provided for shoppers and have a maximum stay of 3 hours only. Buying Paycards

How to use a Paycard

1. When you arrive at a parking place decide how long you intend to stay. (Remember on street parking and some car parks are short stay only). 2. Calculate how many units you will need to display for your parking, using the details of charges displayed within each car park (On street is 1 unit per visit). 3. Scratch off the following 5 panels on your paycard(s) to indicate your time of arrival:-

DAY, DATE, MONTH, HOURS & MINUTES WRWKHQH[W¿YHPLQXWHV  4. When using more than 1 paycard it is important to scratch each one identically. For example if staying for 3 hours, scratch off 3 Unit Paycards all with the same date and time of arrival. 5. The Department for Infrastructure is continuing the trial of a new payment system for Sand Street Car Park.

Here’s how it works...

 'ULYHLQWRWKHFDUSDUNDVXVXDODQG¿QG a place. Before leaving your car to do your shopping etc, make a note of your number plate (if you don’t already know it) - you’ll need it later.

Your car number plate is registered on the system when you drive in.  <RXDUHJLYHQD¿YHPLQXWHWLPH allowance to park before you start being charged. 2. When you come back to the car park, go to the pay station.

Pay station terminals are clearly visible and situated at the pedestrian car park entrances.

3. Key in the registration number of your car.

 7KHV\VWHPZLOO¿QG\RXU arrival time and calculate how much you owe. 4. The screen displays how much you owe and asks you how you want to pay.

There are three payment options: • Debit or credit card • Sand Street park smart card • A prepaid Sand Street UniTicket

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to make your payment by your chosen method.

You will be given a receipt for a debit/credit card payment and you can request a receipt for all other payments.

Sand Street UniTicket Available in 5 and 10 units

Prepaid cards sold at most garages, QHZVDJHQWVDQGSRVWRI¿FHV Card decreases in value as it is used, eg park for 2 hours and the pay station deducts 2 units electronically from the card, leaving you with 3 units to use next time on a 5 unit card (the number of units remaining is displayed on the pay station screen).

Cost of Parking

Sand Street is a shoppers’ car park and it is important that spaces for short stay parking are always available. However, you can now park for longer than three hours, but the charging rates have been set to dissuade commuter and long stay parking.
