Join two beautiful Princesses for a fun 30-minute virtual lesson with real makeup! A kit will be provided to you so your child can do her makeup just like the real princesses! Join us via Zoom from your kitchen table or vanity as we have fun playing with makeup! If you have multiple children participating, please make sure to register each child individually. Class is via Zoom with a unique link issued to registered guests the morning of class. Makeup kit pick-up will be held at the Park District front desk November 12 - 17. The Barrington Park District would like to show our thanks and send love to those away from home during the holidays. We have set up two mailboxes in our front lobby One mailbox will be sent to those fighting for our country and the other mailbox will be sent to those fighting to stay well in the hospital. AGES: 6 - 12 YEARS Have the slime of your life creating seasonal slime with a Grinch inspired theme. Slime continues to be all the rage with kids and this time our concoction lab will include all the colors of Christmas, hearts and “ornaments” as mix-ins, along with winter scents that will make you feel like you are in the Grinch story! This is crazy FUN to blow off some steam as kids get excited for winter break to arrive. Every participant will go home with the slime they made and a prize! (Min/Max: 7/15). Socially Distant Santa

AGES: 1 - 12 YEARS Santa is here and spreading cheer! Join the Barrington Park District as we host Santa at the park! Make sure you bring your list because he will be checking it twice! Each family will sign-up for a 15-minute time frame to visit with Santa. We don’t want him getting sick before Christmas so masks will be required for all participants ages 2 and up and pictures must be taken 6-ft away from Santa. Letters to Santa

Let us be Santa’s little helper this year. The Park District has a special mailbox for letters heading to the North Pole. Send or drop off your child’s letter by December 13, with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and we will make sure your letter makes it to Santa with enough time to write back. AGES: 1 - 10 YEARS Santa Claus is coming to town and stopping in Barrington to say Ho Ho Ho! Off 2 Preschool

Must be 2 years old by first day of class. Off 2 Preschool is a great way to introduce your child to a preschool setting. This class is for the toddler who is ready to start exploring on their own. Some of the most important aspects of early development are becoming comfortable with separation, encouraging independence and fostering communication skills. Classes will follow a weekly theme and include circle time with songs, a story, snack time, socialization and playtime. Fine and gross motor skills will be enhanced through games and crafts. Parents/caregivers are asked to be available until children build trust with their new teachers. Children must be potty trained, or a parent/caregiver must be available for bathroom assistance.Class will meet mornings for one hour and fifteen minutes. (Min/Max: 4/6). Three’s Classroom

Must be 3 years old by September 30, 2020. Registration for the Three’s Classroom has begun. To register, please submit the preschool registration form. The emphasis of this class is to provide children with a wide variety of learning experiences in various domains. Our curriculum includes hands-on experiences that incorporate the interests of the children. Every day is structured to give each child many opportunities to learn with art projects, cooking, science experiments, music, poems, finger plays, as well as physical play. Daily circle time gives children opportunities to sing, share and explore readiness through structured activities. Must be potty trained. NO PULL UPS.

Pre-K Classroom

Must be 4 years old by October 30, 2020. Registration for the Pre-K Classroom has begun. To register, please submit the preschool registration form. This class is perfect for children who miss the September 1 age requirement for kindergarten and/or who will be attending Kindergarten in the 2020 - 2021 school year and are ready for a four day program. The Pre-K curriculum has been developed to meet the specific skills needed to prepare a child for kindergarten. This program includes readiness in reading (Jolly Phonics Program), literature, writing, math, science, social science, art, music, gross and fine motor skills and social/emotional readiness. One of our main goals is to foster children’s creativity, originality and imagination. The classroom is a playful and creative environment where children can use their literacy, cognitive and mathematical skills throughout their daily activities.

Toddler Tech Virtual Preschool Ages 3 - 5 (as of 9/1/20) Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Registration for Toddler Tech Virtual Preschool has begun. To register, please submit the preschool registration form. This form is located on the preschool page of the website or contact Jodi Krause at jkrause@barringtonparkdistrict.org. As families process their comfortability with being in a public setting versus their desire to have their preschooler in school here is one more option to weigh in on! This year the Park District will be offering a remote & partially virtual preschool class. Your little one is getting smarter by the day! The Park District is keenly aware these years are full of crucial cognitive milestones that are preparing them for kindergarten. They are starting to get the hang of numbers, patterns, time and even starting to read. They are expanding critical thinking skills, such as identifying, classifying, comparing, contrasting, sequencing, predicting and problem solving. This program includes readiness in reading (Jolly Phonics Program), literature, writing, science, technology, social science, art and music. Teachers will put together a week’s worth of lessons and activities along with directions for your preschooler to work on throughout the week. These boxes will be available for pickup on Fridays after 3:00pm at the Park District front desk. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, following the school calendar, teachers will zoom with their class from 1:00 - 1:45pm. The zoom sessions will vary in topic each class day. Virtual classes start Monday, September 14. Rock ‘n’ Kids is Rockin’ at Home!

AGES: 1 - 6 YEARS Sing, dance, play and learn YOUR way in this virtual music and movement class! Registered participants will receive an email from Rock ‘n’ Kids on Mondays at 8:00am with that week’s pre-recorded, private, 30-minute virtual class, allowing families to participate on their own time. Links will expire one week after the last class for the session is distributed. The session’s musical activities will be based on the theme of “A Whole New World!” Each week we will pretend to ride on our magic carpets to explore a new place! A pirate ship? The jungle? Outerspace? It will be a musical adventure! Activities will include opening songs, weekly theme introduction, 5 - 6 additional music activities and closing songs. Along with class content supplemental activities will be included to enhance your child’s learning. Preschool Drawing

AGES: 3 ½ - 5 YEARS As 2020 draws to a close YR is still getting creative. Young Rembrandts teaches preschool children the skills necessary to draw more complex images. As preschoolers learn to draw and color with our step-by-step method, they develop observations skills while increasing fine motor skills, handwriting readiness and attention to detail. Our program prepares them as learners so they will be successful in Kindergarten. Participating in Young Rembrandts’ creative and encouraging classes helps young children learn to follow directions and stay on task. (Min/Max: 5/10). Instructor: Young Rembrandts. Introducing K.E.E.P. 2.0! K.E.E.P. 2.0 is a NEW recreation based program designed to provide children a safe environment to complete their remote learning day, participate in enrichment activities and engage in fun activities with their peers. While remote learning, staff will only be able to assist with common computer issues, our staff are not school educators or tutors. Two Options: Option 1: 10:45am - 5:15pm, Monday - Friday, 10/19/20 - 12/22/20 Option 2: 12:00 - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday, 10/19/20 - 12/22/20 K.E.E.P. 2.0 is scheduled to run through 12/22/20 and will be re-evaluated based on Barrington School District 220’s updates.

VIRTUAL Mad Science: Virtual STEM Sampler

AGES: 5 - 12 YEARS We know this school year is different, and we’re ready to help keep your kids engaged and learning from the comfort and safety of home. With the help of our weekly, LIVE, interactive Mad Scientist, your child can continue to explore science around them. Participants will receive their own Experiment Pack with our cool Take-Homes delivered right to your door. Each program is one-hour long and meets once a week. Registration deadline is one week before the activity begins. Live classes are recorded so if you miss one, you can still access that week’s activity. Weekly STEM Themes include:

• Lights, Color, Action!: Catch some cool colors. Make a rainbow out of white light. Split your name with ink and reveal numbers with color filters. Color your world with Mad Science Diffraction Glasses!

• Mad Machines: See how simple machines lighten your load! Launch with levers, secure with screws, and work with wedges. Use pulleys to move heavy objects with ease. Build the Mad Science Cone Car for some zooming action.

• Walloping Weather: Get weather-wise. Uncover the reason for seasons. Create three-day weather forecasts. Stage a statically charged indoor storm. Spot the sun’s invisible UV rays with the Sun Beads kit.

• Sonic Sounds: Uncover the source of sound. Tap into sound waves and fill your ears with vibrations. Create sound effects and change the pitch of your voice. Use your Mad Science Sonic Horn to make some noise!

Using a creative educational approach that supports Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.), these programs are led by Chasewood Learning’s teacher-led instruction followed by fun, engaging and dynamic activities.

STEM Club

AGES: 7 - 14 YEARS Barrington Park District and Chasewood Learning is proud to announce a new program called STEM Club. This is a semester long club that enhances your child’s learning and prepares your child for STEM competitions. STEM club meetings will cover exciting STEM topics such as robotics, coding, race car engineering, drones and more. The focus of the activities is for students to design, build, code, problem-solve and work in teams. In addition, STEM Club members will prepare for exciting STEM competitions. For 2020 - 2021, the STEM Club will be participating in the US Engineering League Virtual Robotics League and Race Car Engineering League. Competition dates will be announced later. Fees for competitions are included in your STEM Club fees. The Club will run in continuous 7-week increments and you can register for each session based on your availability. (Min/Max: 3/10). LEGO Robotics: Remote Learning Option

AGES: 8 - 14 YEARS Chasewood Learning is offering this remote learning option where your child can learn S.T.E.M. from home! We utilize Google Classroom and scheduled online classes to teach your child. We will work with parents on scheduling classes during the week. Once registered, you will receive an email from Chasewood Learning with a link to sign-up for a date and time that work for you and your family. Classes will start the week of 11/2/20. Age appropriate, interactive instruction for your child and the other participants will be determined by age and experience. Each student will increase their skills in problem solving, teamwork and communications. It’s all about learning and having FUN! In order to support the need for a robot, Chasewood is offering free loaner classroom robots and other materials that will be arranged for you to pick up from the Barrington Park District. Parents will be contacted for pick-up and return of items loaned. Requirements All children need to have a computer with a working web camera and microphone. Younger children (3rd grade and below) need to have a parent nearby to help out when needed. AGES: 5 - 12 YEARS Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks from the Magic Team of Gary Kantor! Amaze Kantor family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mindreading and more. All materials are provided and each child receives a magic kit to take home. AGES: 7 YEARS AND UP Professional balloon artist Gary Kantor introduces a 45-minute online class that teaches children the techniques needed to take plain balloons and transform them into incredible balloon animals (like dogs, butterflies, fish, etc.). By watching these online videos children will create their own balloon animals, with Gary walking them through each step in the process. And this class isn’t just for the kids; parents will have a blast if they join the experience. You can watch the videos again and again! Semi-Private Tumbling Lessons AGES: 8 - 16 YEARS Master the skills of tumbling with semi-private direction from a BPD Coach. Come be a part of the fun! In conjunction with Station and Prairie Middle Schools and St. Anne School, the Barrington Park District organizes a variety of ski trips for grades 6 - 8. Whether you’re a black-diamond skier or just learning how to walk in those crazy boots, this is your opportunity to hit the slopes with your friends from middle school. Buses will take skiers to the slopes at various locations all around our area.

Youth - Private Drum Lessons/Science

Private Drum Lessons

AGES: 4 - 5 YEARS AND 6 YEARS AND UP These one-on-one private lessons are designed for beginner (ages 4 - 5), intermediate and advanced students (ages 6 years and up). All styles, including rock, jazz, funk and blues are taught. If interested, students can also learn mallet percussion. Each lesson is 25 minutes in length for ages 4 - 5, and 30 minutes in length for ages 6 and up. Prior to the start date of the session, the instructor will contact you with the time of your lesson. Please note: Lessons will be taught maintaining 6 ft. of physical distancing between student and the instructor and all other health and safety guidelines from Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan will be followed. Drop off and pick up will be curbside and only the participant and instructor are allowed in the room. Additional supplies: students have the option of purchasing a music book and/or supplies (drumsticks) on their own or from the instructor for an additional fee. Cancellation policy: all cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order to be made up. A maximum of 2 make-up lessons are allowed per session. (Min/Max: 1/1). Grinch Goo-tastic Slime Lab

AGES: 6 - 12 YEARS Have the slime of your life creating seasonal slime with a Grinch inspired theme. Slime continues to be all the rage with kids and this time our concoction lab will include all the colors of Christmas, hearts and “ornaments” as mix-ins, along with winter scents that will make you feel like you are in the Grinch story! This is crazy FUN to blow off some steam as kids get excited for winter break to arrive. Every participant will go home with the slime they made and one other prize. (Min/Max: 7/15). Waltz and Salsa Dance

Boys’ & Girls’ Basketball Program: Grades 3 - 8

The Barrington Park District has long been known for its basketball league, which is both extremely fun and instructional. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in this high-energy program for budding hoops players. Whether your child is new to the game, or looking to improve their basketball skills, this program is the perfect way to have fun playing hoops! PRACTICE INFORMATION • Each squad will have 5 full squad practices (dates listed under Important Program Dates).

• Each squad will have a max of 48 players.

• Practices will be held at intra-squad scrimmage times (times listed on the next page).

• Players cannot play up, or down, a level.

• Practices WILL NOT be held during the regular season.

• Players will be evaluated by volunteer coaches before the start of the scrimmages.

• Players MUST bring their own basketball, labeled with their first and last name to every practice.

• Players cannot request to be with any specific player or intra-squad scrimmage team.

• Players MUST wear face coverings and athletic shoes to all practices.

• All scrimmages are officiated by a certified referee.

• Parents/Spectators are NOT allowed at any practices.

• Grades 3 - 4 will play on a 9ft. hoop. Grades 5 - 8 will play on a 10ft. hoop. • Grades 3 - 4 will use an intermediate size basketball (28.5") Grades 5 - 8 will use an official size basketball (29.5")

HEAD COACHES ALWAYS NEEDED! As our programs grow and adapt, so does our need for volunteer coaches. Without the support of these volunteers, this program would not be possible. Job Description: The coach should be a sincere, caring individual who can dedicate a few hours each week to the program. He/She should also have some knowledge of the sport, serve as a positive role model who encourages good sportsmanship, be safety conscious, have patience and enthusiasm, and most of all, make sure everyone has a great time! Coach’s Training: All volunteers will be able to participate in a brief coach’s meeting to help prepare them for the program. Practice and scrimmage ideas will be shared, and coaches will be able to ask questions to the program supervisor and other coaches. Developmental Basketball Program

BOYS & GIRLS IN GRADES 1 - 2 The “D-League” is a great program for younger kids who cannot wait to jump into league-style basketball for the first time. Participants will have fun, while learning the fundamentals of the game. To help practice the basics of shooting, the baskets will be lowered to 8 feet. A junior size basketball (27.0”-27.5”) will be used to help each player work on dribbling and passing. Player-to-Player defense is taught, using colored wristbands worn be each player on the court. Scrimmages will be slowed down and stopped to help instruct players. No score is kept in “D-League”, the focus is all about having fun! Please indicate which school your child attends on the registration form. Rookie Level (1st - 2nd Grade): for first time players or players that are new to basketball. Pro Level (1st - 2nd Grade): for players with previous basketball league experience. Format: Each level will have a max of 48 players. Large team practices will be held on your scheduled scrimmage days, taking place in December and early January. From those large team practices, scrimmage teams will be formed based on evaluation scores provided by the coaches. Scrimmage games will start in January. E-Town Tennis Our tennis programs emphasize fun, fitness and friendship. All programs provide a wide variety of instruction, including stroke development, strategy, court positioning, shot selection, footwork and supervised match play. All classes are taught by E-Town Tennis, USTA Certified Instructors. Please dress in appropriate attire for physical activity and bring a tennis racquet, face mask/face covering and water bottle. Junior Tennis Level information: Quick Start 1 & 2: For Ages 4 - 7 Years Quick Start Tennis is used to help develop skills and play tennis games utilizing smaller sized rackets, low compression tennis balls and smaller court sizes. This program develops proper technique and is great for all ages. Students progress at a faster pace through each skill test using regulation tennis balls and courts designed for their own unique abilities and needs. Beginner/Advanced Beginner: For Ages 7 - 13 Years Beginner class is ideal for ages 7+ just taking up tennis. Instruction includes eye-hand coordination, racquet skills, stroke production with emphasis on ground strokes, serve, return and volleys. Court position, scoring and singles and doubles strategy are introduced. Advanced beginner classes are for the students who have had basic instruction but need further review of fundamentals. Stroke development, footwork, strategy and match play are included. Prorating and Rain Make-Up Policies Tennis classes will not be prorated. Those who cannot complete a class due to injury/health reasons may receive a prorated refund after submitting a doctor’s note. Missed classes may be made up by attending an equivalent class within the same session. To find out whether your class has been cancelled due to rain, please call the Barrington Park District’s RainOut line at (847) 268-2268. If your tennis class is rained out, you either may attend an equivalent-level class within the same session or the instructor will discuss a make-up with the participants at the next class after the rain out.

Advanced Pickleball AGES: 16 YEARS AND UP

Beginner Pickleball

AGES: 16 YEARS AND UP This class is for those who have never played Pickleball before or who have very limited experience with the sport. It will focus on Pickleball basics such as forehand and backhand shots, serving and court positioning. Players will also learn scoring and rules of the game through drills and playing time.
