Evaluation Question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

How we received our feedback We received our feedback by doing a screening in class to our peers, who were our main target audience and received positive feedback, negative feedback and how to improve and acted on them. The following slides are the positive feedback we received, the negative feedback and constructive criticism we received and how we have acted on this feedback.

Positive feedback Positives were: The location, this was satisfying because we felt as if Little Plumstead was the best suited location for what we wanted our trailer to look like. The soundtrack went well with the trailer in terms of building tension. The camerawork captured found footage well and aided to give a diversion of shots instead of the same shot types. There was a really good establishing equilibrium to help understand the setting of the film. Most said they would watch.

Negative feedback/constructive criticism Negatives were: Most people said that they had problem hearing the dialogue in the car scene at the beginning of the trailer. Some people said that they thought the camerawork was a bit shaky, this is because a lot of the camerawork was handheld first person perspective. One person suggested adding an overlay on the handheld scenes to show that it is found footage Most took issue with the lighting, however, this was not our fault as there was a problem with the blinds in the classroom which didn’t make for the best screening on the projector People said the pace to the trailer was too slow towards the end and the pace needed to be sped up as the trailer was lacking anticipation.

How we responded to feedback Most people had a problem with the dialogue in the car scene so we overdubbed the dialogue to make it clearer and easy to understand. In the handheld scenes we added a digital camera overlay to make it more evident that they are handheld shots as opposed to assumptions of shaky camerawork. Towards the end of the trailer we added another montage of fast-paced shots to build more tension and suspense in order to give the trailer even more of a horror feel.
