Zaha Hadid, queen of the curve Dame Zaha Hadid, the world-renowned Architect, whose designs include the London Olympic Aquatic Centre, has died aged 65. The British designer, who was born in Iraq, had a heart attack on 31st of March while in hospital in Miami, where she was receiving treatment for bronchitis. Hadid’s buildings have been commissioned around the world, and she was the first woman to receive the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) gold medal. A lengthy statement released by her company said: “It is with great sadness that Zaha Hadid Architects have confirmed that Dame Zaha Hadid DBE died suddenly in Miami in the early hours of this morning. She had contracted bronchitis earlier this week and suffered a sudden heart attack while being treated in hospital. Zaha Hadid was widely regarded to be the greatest female architect in the world today.” Hadid was born on 31 October 1950 in Baghdad, Iraq, to an upper-class Muslim family. Her father, Muhammad al-Hajj Husayn Hadid, was a wealthy industrialist from Mosul, Iraq. He co-founded the left-liberal al-Ahali group in Iraq in 1932, which was a significant political organization in the 1930’s and 1940’s. He was the co-founder of the National Democratic Party in Iraq. Her mother, Wajiha al-Sabunji, was an artist from Mosul. In the 1960’s, Hadid attended boarding schools in England and Switzerland. Hadid studied mathematics at the American University of Beirut before moving, in 1972, to London to study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. There she met Rem Koolhaas, Elia Zenghelis and Bernard Tschumi. She worked for her former professors, Koolhaas and Zenghelis, at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, becoming a partner in 1977. Through FASHION & TREND

her association with Koolhaas, she met Peter Rice, the engineer who gave her support and encouragement early on at a time when her work seemed difficult. Richard Rogers, whose buildings include the Pompidou Centre and the Millennium Dome, told the Guardian that the news of Hadid’s death was “really, really terrible.” “She was a great architect, a wonderful woman and wonderful person,” Lord Rogers said. “Among architects emerging in the last few decades, no one had any more impact than she did. She fought her way through as a woman. She was the first woman to win the Pritzker prize. I got involved with her first in Cardiff when the government threw her off the project in the most disgraceful way. She has had to fight every inch of the way. It is a great loss.” Lord Rogers added. Hadid’s death was a great loss not only to the world of design and architect, but for the Arab world being a successful Iraqi figure that was always proud of her Arabic background. We hope our Arab world would bring us more successful world acclaimed professional and devoted and hardworking figures like arch. Zaha Hadid.

Q&A
Pro or against Uber services? Lamia Osama
I am against stopping their services in Egypt, I didn’t try it myself as I use my car, but people who tried it have positive feedback, so I don’t think it would make any sense to stop it.
Wesam Osama
I love Uber and Careem because they are very respectable, go where ever you want, no smoking, no loudy songs as well as use GPS.
A lot of controversy was raised recently after Taxi drivers demonstrated asking the government to stop Uber and Careem services from Cairo’s streets as they don’t pay taxes and they are not under the government’s supervision. This month Lounge asks its readers who experienced Uber whether they are pro or against using their services.
Nayrouz Adel Mennah Saad
I am pro Uber for sure because I’ve seen the huge difference between their services and the white taxi’s services, it would be really a shame if they stopped their services, I hope who ever runs Uber would train taxi drivers to be up to the standards of Uber drivers.

Nelly Nabil
I love their services, the drivers are decent and unlike the taxi drivers they are not greedy or ask for more money, they are fair and I feel safe when I use it. Both should be out in the streets, and you have the choice to use whatever you like.
I use it all the time and it’s like my savior, they put candy and a bottle of mineral water in the car, they put on the AC and ask me about the type of music I want them to play. I once took a taxi from Heliopolis to Nasr City who took a short cut from Hagana area, which was a terrible area I felt we could get kidnapped, he got lost and didn’t even know how to get us out of there and kept asking the passersby, I was terrified and made a decision not to take taxi ever again.

How big is your heart W e all do have heart, but some hearts are bigger
than others, some have more sympathy than others and some are more giving than others. Have you ever wondered how big your heart is? As this month we are celebrating the Orphans Day, know more about what kind of heart you have and take this fun quiz
Your friend yells at you for no reason. You… Cry Yell back Hug them.. Do you volunteer your time to charity? Not much Occasionally Often You pass a homeless man on the sidewalk. You… Give him a pound or two and don’t judge. Give him some change and hope he spends it constructively. Ignore him or give an excuse.
LOUNGE 30
Do you fall in love easily? Not really. Yeah, especially for the right person. I love everyone. You come across a stray cat. You… Feed it and maybe take it in. Say “aw” and then leave it. Call an animal shelter. Is there any crime that can’t be forgiven? No, everyone deserves forgiveness if they ask. Plenty of them. Only something really bad.
A dog runs out in front of your car. You.. Keep going. Try to avoid it. Brake. Do you find it easy to connect with people? A lot of the time. Depends. I try to understand and empathize with everyone. When Bambi’s mom died, you… Who is Bambi? Sat silently. Cried like a baby.
Results Mostly As
Medium Sized but Healthy Your heart is right in the middle when it comes to size, but is it ever healthy. Your heart may not be made of gold, but it is made of bronze, which is something, right? You’re not perceived the friendliest of people, nor the warmest, but you know it’s just because you take a while to warm up to and trust others. You have your small circle of your friends who you care about deeply, and that’s all you need in the world. However, it wouldn’t hurt to stop and smell the roses, smile, and volunteer your time a bit more sometimes!
Mostly Bs
Just Above Average The size of your heart isn’t too small or too big – it’s just right. You have a small heart of gold, but a heart of gold nonetheless. You are kind, welcoming, and extremely friendly. You love being around others and making others happy. You have many friends and loved ones because of your extremely sweet personality!
Mostly Cs
Massively Large You have one of the biggest hearts of gold of all time! You are selfless and giving, and you always try to think of others’ feelings, even before your own. Being so kind comes easy for you. Because of your warm personality, you have made many genuine, lasting friends in your life, all of whom are so happy to have you care about them!

owadays, the importance of Energy Healing has increased and many people had directed their attention to this field. Although energy healing is gaining more and more popularity and significance every day, many people still believe that it is not based on scientific evidence and prefer to stick to medicine and doctors. So, is it true? Is Energy Healing the new medicine? Reem El Shennawi speaks to Hanan Zinal, Masters in Reiki and Energy Healing Phd holder about Energy healing, Reiki sessions, the difference between them, the 7 Chakras of the body, colours reflecting our personality, stones and their importance and much more…
The Power of Energy Healing and Reiki Tell us more about yourself and how you got started I graduated from Applied Arts, and I have done my masters and I worked as an assistant professor at the university, but I resigned. After that, I started working as a graphic designer and then became an art director and opened my own PR and Marketing company. I worked in many fields including, event management, wedding planning and printing. However, after the Revolution, a lot of clients canceled their deals and I lost a big amount of money, and so, I decided to stop working in this field. In September 2011, I read about a stress relief event on

Facebook, and I decided to attend the event as I was very stressed like everyone at that time. When I first met the organizer of the event she looked me and said “you are a healer,” I told her “no I am not,” she said “yes you are; this is your destiny.” She told me after that she wanted to speak with me and advised me to take a session to know more about that field. I took the session and designed her graphics for free in return. The first session was half a session, which I remember suffering from a lot of physical pain after I finished it. I got very sick and I couldn’t understand what was going on. I finished the
rest of the session later and got sicker. I felt sicker after the second one. After the 6th day, things got better and I started to feel the relief. The 7th day, with the same problems that I had, I felt very different and peaceful, and so, I decided to join the field. I was taught that there are two schools, the first one attempts to make you suffer and then relief, while the second one takes a slower approach, making you work on each part individually. I started to work as a body, meaning people use my body in sessions. I took a course after the other, and at that time, my life, my personality, my views, my looks, everything
improved dramatically. My problems started to disappear and my life style became healthier. People started to know me, and I started to appear in the media. I am thankful to my mother, who was very supportive, she let me use her body for training, so did my father and brother. I helped in curing Cancer cases, Diabetes, Hepatitis C and many more. I actually witness miracles every day; I call this field ‘magic.’ What is the difference between Reiki and Energy Therapy? Reiki is an energy technique, which resets the energy system, while energy healing works on unstable waves inside the body. The body is divided into 7 main chakras, which are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it’s important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely. The 7 chakras are the rainbow colours starting with violet on the top of the head, which brings its energy
focus only on energy healing, actually, they go together, doctors’ mission is to work on the symptoms and energy healing works on the cause, which takes time.
from spiritual gatherings, and then, blue (awareness), turquoise (communication), green (love and healing), yellow (wisdom and power), orange (sexuality and creativity) and red (basic trust) at the bottom. It is believed that there are another 6 chakras and these 7 are the main and the most important ones. People get affected differently because they have different waves. Some people have unstable waves then others, meaning, people who get nervous at situations have unstable waves in this matter, and thus, some organs get affected. People who suffer from certain fears have problems with their kidneys, lower back, colon or bladder, as the waves hit the orange chakra, which is responsible for self confidence. All physical diseases are a result of psychological problems. Anger, depression, frustration, fear, and technological advances affect the body resulting in physical diseases. However, this does not mean we shouldn’t visit doctors and
way to stay healthy and energetic. Also, a healthy diet is one that doesn’t contain any type of processed food as the body takes a lot of time and effort to digest it. You should drink water 30 minutes before your meal, and start your meal with vegetables and end it with high protein as it is the last thing to be digested. The French cuisine is the best example of healthy eating. What is the pyrimad and how does it help in healing disease? The pyramid should have certain measures, it should be resistant to electricity such as, wood, crystal, or glass. If you put it on any part of your body from 20 to 60 minutes, the pyramid charges this part and recovers it in order to work more efficiently. If the energy in the body is balanced, you will not suffer from diseases, and vice versa. A copper pyramid is best used to charge the whole body with energy. I advise people to put the pyramid right next to them while they are sleeping.
How can someone lose weight without dieting? Being overweight is a result of trying to feel protected against external fears, be it full protection, which results in gaining weight in the whole body, or partial protection, which makes you gain weight in certain parts of the body. Food becomes a source of comfort and a mean of filling a gap in your life, whether it’s a social or an emotional gap, which explains the concept of emotional eating, meaning, you eat whenever you feel sad, depressed, emotionally unstable, and/or frustrated..etc. So, we work on the subconscious by the hypnosis method, making the person believe that food is not a friend or a mean of filling a gap. People should eat 5 small meals 5 times a day at the timing of the prayers, and that’s the best
What about stones? God created us by sand and water, and sand has minerals. Stones originally come from sand and water, and that’s why they affect us. The colour of the stone affects the chakras. For example, the love stone, which has a pink colour, affect the chakra in the middle, which is responsible for the emotional areas in your life. There are many and many types and colours of stones, and each affect us differently. Also, the shape of the stone affects us differently. And so, everyone is different than the other and need stones differently. How do colours affect us psychologically and socially? And how do they reflect our personality? As mentioned before, the body is divided into 7 coloured chakras and therefore, they have different waves. When a certain part of the body gets affected, we charge it with the colour responsible for this part. The best way to charge your body with energy and reset it is to twice a week, which cures many diseases including, cancer. Moreover, colours reflect your personality in the same way. People who like orange or fuschia are lively and fun to be with as well as self confident. People who like black are mysterious, introverted, but classy, and likes to be in control of any situation. Brown reflects emotional shocks and instability. So basically, chakras affect the part its responsible for as well as the colour. On daily basis, we receive both negative and positive energy, how should we attract positive energy and neglect negative energy? We should learn how to handle and deal with negative energy because we all receive both positive and negative energy all the time. We can’t stop negative energy, but we can learn how to handle them. How can we stay energetic in lower temperature? Don’t be in direct contact with cold weather neither in winter nor in autumn so, don’t sit in open air areas in these seasons. You should also drink a lot of water especially in winter because the body gets dehydrated and we tend to drink less in this season. When our body needs water, we mistakenly think that we are hungry while in reality we need water. Drink a glass of water with a spoon of honey in the morning, and a glass of water every hour during the day. Also, eat 7 dates every day. Eat fruits and vegetables in season, they warm the body up and give you energy. Most importantly, don’t stay in room temperature for example and go out door in a lower temperature; this change in temperature is the reason why we get sick. Cold water and ice is very healthy for the body, drink cold water; it cures the body from a lot of diseases. For more protection during winter from cold and flu, drink pineapple juice mixed with 2 lemons, ginger, a spoon of honey, a small piece of garlic, and a pinch of chili powder. Drink this juice one hour after breakfast, it protects your body, warms it up your and stimulates your immune system. You can also drink cinnamon with ginger and honey to warm you up. Also, eat a banana every day, if eaten in the morning, it gives you energy, and at night, it helps you sleep better.

Which song of your album ‘Ahlam Bareaa’ represents you? Every song of the album represents me in a way or another because it was carefully chosen to suit my taste; however, I am emotionally attached to ‘Baeet Lewahdak’ because I took it from lyrics writer Essam Abdallah may God rest his soul 25 years ago, but only now I felt mature enough to sing it may be that is why it is very special to me because of the years it spent with me. The model you appeared with in ‘SedyWesalak’ is the same model of ‘Ahy Gat,’ what is the secret behind it? It was director Hassan Ghadar’s idea that people enjoyed seeing us together so, we thought of appearing together again as this will add to the clip for sure. You are a fashion icon, what inspires you? I follow up with the latest fashion trends and styles, and I am keen on seeing the designers collections specially the Lebanese ones, and recently I’ve dealt with Lebanese designer Rany Zakhem, who gave me the best of his collection. As for what inspires me, I love the 60’s era specially Souad Hosni’s style. What is your favourite perfume? I love the perfumes that have wood smell. You stood on stage with singer Asala, how did the idea of performing on stage came about? Actually, it was the idea of the concert’s organizers to gather us in one concert. When I heard about the idea I was so excited as I’ve waited for something like this to happen years ago, and I didn’t give it a second thought specially that Asala is not merely a colleague; she is like a sister to me. You and Asala represent the genuine Arabic voice, who else would you add on the list? From the Gulf area, I would say Ahlam and Nawal from Kuwait, as for Egypt, I would say Amal Maher, who has a very good voice, as well as Riham Abdel Hakem and Mai Farouk. Another important rising talent whom I predict a great future for is Carmen Soliman. Your song ‘Tahahod’ broke records, what do you think is the secret behind its massive success? The lyric that was written by Bahaa El Din Mohamed touched a lot of women because of the daring idea, and of course the composing of the amazing Ihab Abdel Wahed. Your personal life is full of struggles and ups and downs, how do you regain yourself after any difficulty? I believe that my deep faith in God is the one thing that helps me and makes me stronger than any hardship I face. What do you listen to while driving? You will always find CDs for Fayrouz, Zeyad
Rahbany, and Abdel Wahab. I also love Nagat, Abdel Haleem, Fayza Ahmed and Warda. What are the biggest challenges you encounter being a single mother and a star? The biggest challenge is that I have to be the mother and father for my kids most of the time, and what makes it even harder is how I have to coordinate that with my difficult schedule as a singer. Your acting experience was only through the TV serial’ Fe Ghamdet Ain,’ will you repeat it? I was very busy with the album release and the concerts that followed; however, I wish I’d participate in a movie and I hope soon there will be something on the way. What are the things you see in the law that needs to be altered for women in Egypt? Women are being pressured either by their own well because of the lack of education and poverty. Because when these two things are present in a woman then it is a disaster because she can’t control her life, this applies to any woman in Egypt or anywhere else. There must be certain laws that respect women and provide her with the minimum requirements of a decent living in case there is no one to support her financially, or she suffers from an illness. Also, there must be strict laws that prohibits violence against women. If you are to be a UN Ambassador, what is the cause you will fight for? I would love to help in the ‘Children without Shelter’ campaign. You mentioned in one of your interviews that you are a very independent woman who leads to the failure of your marriages; could a woman live happily ever after and feel complete without a man? Of course, a woman could live happy without a man, happiness has a lot of shapes and perspectives it doesn’t involve marriage only. Having the right partner of course leads to happiness, but it could lead to the opposite if it causes stress and pressure, and you feel the tension between the couple. At this point, being a part is the best option for all the family members so, being independent and single in such a case is the best solution for everyone. You are a mother of two boys, what would you advice them on their wedding night in the future? I won’t wait till their wedding day to advice them; I brought them up on how to respect their mother, girls and women in general, and I will tell my son to treat his wife as if she is his daughter whom he is responsible for and not to lie to her ever. I won’t merely advice him, I will raise these concepts in him as he grows.

The Oscar nominated actress plays the role of Sara the forbidden lover of Eric the huntsman who helps him to stop two evil sisters from conquering the land in the Adventurous drama The Huntsman: Winter’s War. The Californian actress reveals all about the role, how she was trained to use the weapons and her theatrical plans.
THE HUNTSMAN:WINTER’S WAR What can you tell us about your character? I play the character Sara, who is talked about in the first movie but never seen. At first I wondered how it was going to work because the love story between the Huntsman and Snow White was sort of told in the first movie. But I watched it again and throughout he’s constantly talking about Sara. Even when he’s talking about true love’s kiss he’s talking about Sara the whole time, and he says, “You remind me of her.” What kind of weaponry does she use? They’re sort of a special weapon. She’s a Huntswoman. So it’s a weapon she’s designed. When you see her as a younger woman, she works with daggers, and when you find her later on she has this special weapon. The two parts connect to become like a staff. How much training did you have to do with the weapons? I did two weeks in New York and then I did five weeks before our first shoot day. It’s been really fun. I was a dancer when I was younger, so to me it’s just the same as a dance. Were you drawn to doing the action? Yeah, I got to do THE DEBT and that was really fun for me, though it feels like so long ago. In that I played a Mossad agent and I trained for four months, learning KravMaga and it was the best fun. But I haven’t done action since, and then Chris brought this up to me. We were at the Critics’ Choice Awards, and I’d never met him, but he came up to me with my agent and he said, “I’m doing a movie and I’d like you to read the script.” They sent me a picture of the character first, before I got the script and I’ve never had that. It was like a sketch, and she looked awesome. There’s also a movie from my childhood
that I loved - WILLOW - and I remember that redhead badass warrior Sorsha, and I loved her dynamic with Madmartigan when I was a little girl. I always wanted to be Sorsha, so it was like this is my chance! How much does the look of the character inform what you do with her? It’s everything for me. This is a Colleen Atwood costume. I ask for little things, like I asked for daggers in my feet. Cedric [Nicolas-Troyan], the director, designed them. The thing about the Huntsmen, and where she comes from, is that they all wear similar armor, so it’s important to make her stand out. Even the scar on my face that was something that was never written in the script, Cedric and I talked about it in pre-production and we added it. How does the tone compare to the first film? I definitely think there’s more comedy in this one. I loved the first film, and thought Charlize was terrific. She’s so badass. Plus, there are more women this time. The first one had great female actors, but now we’ve got me, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Alexandra Roach and Sheridan Smith. Diversity is a topic many are talking about today. It’s unusual for a film of this scale to feature so many female characters. Do you think things have changed? I wouldn’t say it’s changed; I think it’s on the brink of changing in terms of diversity, but I think it’s a responsibility for everyone to talk about it. I think it’s important for women to be comfortable talking about it and comfortable discussing the fact that the pay gap is so large. Some stories are insane. And not just women, but men talking about it too, and journalists – to have the media be aware of it. I think the more men that get involved the better it’s going to be for everyone.
How comfortable do you feel on a production of this scale? How does it compare to a smaller film? On a smaller production there’s more stress, which sometimes I react better to. I like to feel, “We’ve got to get this done!” I kind of like the adrenaline of what that is, so I’m always going to go back and forth. I like that we have the coolness of these costumes and the locations we’re shootingin on a big production like this. I love them both. You work in theatre too, what do you miss about the stage? I guess an audience. I’d loveto do a comedy when I go back to theatre. I’ve been looking at some things. I miss the interaction.Even though I was so tired when I was doing THE HEIRESS, releasing ZERO DARK THIRTY and MAMA at the same time, what I loved was meeting the fans afterwards and hearing from people who’d loved the show. What sort of comedy? Maybe something really broad. And you know, I don’t do a lot of comedic movies. I realized that after I did CRIMSON PEAK, because it was such a dark character. I thought I needed to start doing lighter things. And this, for example, is far from my character in CRIMSON PEAK. So I’m actively searching. My next roles will have a lightness about them. Who gets the best comedy moments in this film? I think everyone has comedic moments in this movie, which is so great. This film has a lot of elements in it - it’s a strong romance, it’s a drama, but it’s also really funny. We have Nick Frost and Rob Brydon, and also Sheridan Smith and Alexandra Roach [as the dwarves] and they’re all so funny. It’s been hard sometimes to keep a straight face.

Dr. Hani Nabil
A Plastic Surgeon who changes lives D
r. Hani Nabil wakes up every morning with a new promise of changing yet, another life. After 10 years of endless work; his clinics, In Shape, have come a long way from being a startup to becoming Egypt’s platform of surgical miracles. Nabil is specialized in what could be considered the most popular yet, most non-discussed field of surgery. In the past few years, Egypt has witnessed an outstanding number of plastic surgeries; however, less than 5% of the cases have the social courage to admit going under the knife. Categorizing plastic surgery as a taboo is one of the burdens Dr. Nabil has to constantly face. As a visionary that has worked on developing this science locally in order to match the international standards, he is currently focusing on spreading related awareness more than anything else. The walls of In Shape clinics have witnessed an unbelievable number of life-transformation tales that Dr. Nabil finds himself obliged to advocate the powerful effects of plastic surgery through delivering an accurate picture of what really happens inside his clinics.
LOUNGE 42
Why did you pursue a career in plastic surgery?
I chose this charity to change people from within themselves. People think that plastic surgeries change them from the outside; on contrary, it gives them inner satisfaction and happiness that extends and reaches others. Those others might include husbands, fiancés, wives, neighbors and colleagues; if people are satisfied with their appearance they will be satisfied with everything they do in life including their relationships. I started as a general surgeon before practicing plastic surgery for five years under the supervision of leading surgeons in order to learn and observe more. Ten years ago, I decided to go solo and created my own brand, In Shape, which was the result of a brain storming session with a marketing agency; we wanted a name that would convey our main purpose. The concept of being in shape could apply on every human aspect including psychological, physical and mental factors. The journey started with a moderate 45M clinic. We started to meet a lot of patients and import the latest technology. Back then getting the latest medical equipments was a major trend; therefore, we imported only the best of their kind. We were also very keen on being straightforward with the patients; until this very day we promise each patient with a precise percentage for realistic expectations. We currently have the kind of technology available in The USA and France. We have strict criteria for our equipments, we do not import anything that cannot deliver accurate
expectations or can lead to multiple side effects. Our cutting edge technology serves as our biggest investment; if we cannot afford the best equipment we do not settle for the second best. We are also focused on constantly updating our knowledge by reading more and attending all of the international conferences.
Tell us about a case when a patient’s life was transformed with your help?
Fifteen years ago, a wife visited our clinic right after losing both her husband and son in less than two weeks. Her visit was right after the well-known actress Souad Nasr passed away on a surgical table during standard liposuction operation. The woman was dressed in utter black, and she asked for liposuction in any given area; when I asked what she meant, she said that she wanted to die and that is why she needed the risky surgery. I ended up doing a tummy tuck and liposuction thighs. Less than three years later, she became the manager of one of the biggest hotels in Sharm Al-Shaikh. She went back to life and she is currently happy, we remain friends till this very day and we talk every now and then. She could have committed suicide or at least went to an unprofessional surgeon; I changed her life, or at least I tried my best to do so. I am sure many other things in her life have changed for the better but I can proudly say that I gave her hope.
It is starting to boom even though it has been suffering from severe prejudice. Plastic surgery can provide minor changes that highlight a person’s best features and generate a much needed confidence. In five years, we will get into every house and family. People need to know that visiting a plastic surgeon can help you define your best features as well as your flaws; a surgeon can also tell you about the best timing to get something done. We have many false believes that include things such as stating that Botox can lead to blindness or that plastic operations have high mortality levels. In Egypt, we are used to trashing anything that does not meet our personal preferences. This is becoming much better with the help of search engines such as, Google and various media campaigns that aim to change people’s mentality. In Shape does not need more clients, we need to change people’s mentality; they need to understand that it is a safe procedure that is only recommended when truly needed and most importantly that it is not morally wrong or inappropriate.
How do you plan to increase the local awareness?
Locally, this science is based on advertisement only; what I aim for is informing and not promoting. As surgeons, we are not supposed to post advertisements; we are supposed to inform people of the right facts. People need to know the truth whether they need it or not so whenever they need any procedures they would be informed enough.

1.Respect Pain Perform activities only up to the point of slight fatigue or discomfort. Then, take a break at least until pain disappears before starting again. Recognize that pain lasting more than two hours after an activity is a warning sign. Don’t push yourself that far again. Use a warm heating pad for morning pain and stiffness, or use ice packs on warm and swollen joints. Ask your physician about alternate activities if your exercise regimen is causing you significant pain. For example, if playing tennis exacerbates your pain, try swimming instead. Discuss any persistent pain with your physician. 2.Plan Ahead & Balance Your Activities Prioritize your daily activities, making sure to include rest and relaxation, as well as work and exercise. Spread out light and heavy tasks throughout the day. Be realistic about what you can do. Delegate tasks that will put you at risk for injury, or just ask for help. Do the exercises your physician recommends for your specific condition. Get involved in additional exercise, as long as it’s appropriate for you, since building muscle around the joints protects them. Conserve your energy, and make sure the supplies you use most are the easiest to reach, which may require the installation of lower shelves. Sit often, and eliminate unnecessary tasks. Use electric appliances rather than your own muscle power whenever possible. Enhance flexibility and mobility by changing your position frequently. Stretch every 15 minutes when writing or using a computer. Avoid long periods of standing, sitting, and lying down. 3.Distribute Work over Your Body Using Your Largest, Strongest Joints Avoid placing excessive weight or strain on any single joint. Spread the weight of an
object or task over several joints to limit the stress on a single joint. Get the shoulder, elbow and wrist involved in lifting, not just the fingers. For example, lift, carry and hold items with both hands. Use both hands or the side of your body to open heavy doors. Hold small items in the palm of your hand, not your fingers. Keep items close to your body. “Hugging” packages is safer than carrying them on one side or in one hand. Use a bag with shoulder straps rather than holding it in your hand, if it is heavy. When using stairs lead with your strong leg as you go up the stairs and with your weaker leg as you go down. This will limit the stress on the weaker joints. Use a hand rail. 4.Use Joints in Their Most Stable Position For example, if you have wrist problems, don’t stir by rotating your wrist. Instead, grip the spoon in your fist, with the spoon end exiting on the pinky side of your hand, and stir (thumb up) using your whole arm and keeping the wrist stable. Avoid twisting motions. This is especially important for people who have back or hip pain, and for those with hand problems. Wringing motions stress fingers and encourage deformities. Don’t wring out washcloths; just drape them over the faucet to dry. This also may require a little home redecorating to replace your doorknobs with lever door opening devices. 5.Use Adaptive Devices and Techniques Use built-up handles made of foam or plastic for holding toothbrushes, pencils, and pens. Use a cane to alleviate knee or hip pain. Remember to use the cane in the hand opposite to your painful joint. For example, if your right knee hurts, hold the cane in your left hand. Alternate hands when opening and closing jars or use a special device designed for people with limited strength or
motion in their hands. Use reachers or other devices to pick up items from the floor or to retrieve them from a high shelf. Wear proper safety equipment such as, knee or wrist pads. Check out websites, catalogs and stores that sell products specifically designed for people with arthritis or other conditions that limit movement. 6.Maintain Correct Posture •Keep your back straight, especially important when lifting large objects. •Bend at the knees and hips, not at the waist. •Separate feet to widen your base of support. •Keep the item you are lifting close to your body. •Stand on a low, stable footstool when reaching for high objects. •Use a firm chair with good arms and back support. Use a tall chair to make sitting down and standing easier. •Seek exercises that strengthen your posture. •Get familiar with ergonomics, especially if your work requires constant sitting or repetitive motion. Your company’s human resources department may be able to help. 7.Control Your Weight Losing extra pounds can make a difference in your prognosis. For example, your knees sustain an impact three to five times your body weight when you descend stairs. If you weigh 200 pounds, that means up to 1000 pounds banging on your knees. If you are overweight, any loss of weight will be beneficial. Get advice from your physician about a healthy diet for you to follow. Remember that excess weight contributes to additional, more threatening diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, which could further limit your mobility.

HONEY CAN HELP YOU SLEEP
If you are suffering from insomnia, you might need to consider a spoon of honey at night as it has been proven to be a sleep aid. Add a drizzle of honey to warm milk or herbal tea a few hours before you plan on heading to bed. That little bit of glucose lowers levels of orexin, a neurotransmitter that raises your level of alertness.
YOUR ACHY JOINTS CAN PREDICT THE WEATHER
Stories of people’s creaky joints before rainfall aren’t old wives’ tales. When a storm front moves in, the atmospheric pressure drops. Major joints’ sensory nerve endings register a relative increase in joint fluid pressure, resulting in increased pain. Frequent aches sound unpleasant, but at least those with psychic joints know when to bring an umbrella!
SMOKING CAN CAUSE GREY HAIR
Silvery strands are one of the more conspicuous signs of aging. That said, getting grey hair doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re closer to the end of your life span than anyone else your age. Grey hair occurs when the hair follicles produce less melanin, the pigment that gives hair its colour. Smoking is one of the reasons that has been linked to the early onset of grey hair.

Orange juice is fortified with the vitamin, packing around a third of your daily vitamin D needs per cup.

Indulge Your Senses at The Nile Ritz Carlton Spa Offering an escape from the rigours of city life, The Nile RitzCarlton Spa, Cairo, offers a sanctuary of pure indulgence for all your senses including, different body and facial treatment, massages and body therapies. Rizia Parker, the Spa Manager has added much more to the spa with her past experience in hospitality and spa industry, allowing guests to have an experience to remember. Reem El Shennawi speaks with Rizia about herself, the Nile Ritz Carlton Spa, the facilities and treatments offered by the spa and the summer promotions.. Tell me more about yourself I am South African, originally born and raised in Cape Town. My family is half Indian and half South African. I have been in Egypt for just under 2 years now. My sisters are in the hospitality field and that’s why I decided to join the field. I am very optimistic, I always see the glass, and I am very passionate about my work, my personal life, home, friends, family, anything and everything; I put a lot of passion in everything I do. How long have you been in the spa industry, and how long have you been the spa director here? I have been in the spa industry for 8 years now. I started as a skin care therapist in Cape Town, South Africa at skin care salons and spas. Then, I moved to Bazaruto Island to work as a spa manager for 2 years, and then I moved to Luxor and then to Cairo. I have been the Spa Director of Ritz Carlton since May 2015. What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of being the spa director here? The most challenging parts I would definitely say is having the best products available, we want the best quality to be able to give the best service. What I found very challenging is the bureaucratic processes in order to get a high skin care brand registered in the country; it was a quite lengthy process to find good skin care brands and good quality products. Another challenge that I experience on daily
basis is the vast difference in every culture. You have to learn about the culture, you have to practice it and put yourself in that position not only for me to know how to deal with my team, but also to deal with my cliental LOUNGE 54
because we have different cliental in this region. These 2 were the best challenges I have to say. The best part of being the spa director at the Ritz Carlton is having a guest leaving your spa with full satisfaction and marking everything excellent in the survey, and having him say that this was his best spa experience that he has ever had, that is actually very rewarding. Have you introduced new products to the spa? We are currently try to get products from the U.K. part of the Ritz Carlton Spa concept, which was recently renewed, but it has been rather difficult as registering individual products and brands as well as finding someone who is willing to import it and then working with them as the suppliers is quite difficult so, it has been a bit of a challenge. But, hopefully within the few months we would be able to get the paper work done in order to introduce new products to the spa that are not available in the market in Egypt. What treatments are offered at The Ritz Carlton Spa? We do all different treatments in the spa, of
course first and foremost we do massages,
and we actually have 7 different types of massages in our spa. We do body treatments, which includes body scrubs and exfoliations as well as body wraps. We have signature treatments, as well as 5 facials. One of these 5 types is special for the male skin and the male epidermis so, that is great to get gentlemen into doing facials. How does the Ritz Carlton Spa differ from other spas here? One word: the service. We have many
beautiful spas in Cairo, which I visited. But what makes the Ritz Carlton Spa different is the name recognition that you get when you walk into the spa from the ladies and the gentlemen, it’s how we anticipate our guests’ needs so, before you even ask for green tea after your massage, it would be provided to you, we anticipate what you would want before you even have to ask us. It is the way you feel when you leave the spa and to invite you back again, and it starts not only from the moment you walk into the spa, but the moment you walk into the Ritz Carlton Hotel, it’s that level of service that our ladies and gentlemen carry throughout the entire spa experience. What is your most popular treatment? Of course, it would have to be massages. We currently tie between Swedish massages and Balinese massages, and these are the most popular treatments. Besides the massages, the coconut scrub is very popular as well; it’s only a 30 minute treatment, which is a coconut full body exfoliation. What is different about this treatment is that we use pure ground coconut and pure virgin coconut oil, which are mixed in front of you. What direction do you see the spa industry taking in the next ten years? If I think of Cairo firstly, the spa industry in the spa world is like a new born baby; it’s up and coming. Currently, you see beautiful spas opening everywhere, I visited a few spas a few weeks ago, they are beautiful spas. Cairo is starting to move away from the concept of just coming in for a massage, more and more spas now give you the full experience, which include the welcome ritual, the treatment, the orientation, the snacks that you get after, the relation concept after the
massage..etc. So, in Cairo, I think the spa trend is going to boom within the next 5 to 10 years definitely. Generally and globally speaking, people are starting to realize it more and more for example, it became well known that 2 hours of yoga a week reduces stress, improves your cognitive function, and improves productivity. When you look at the physical benefits of spas, it known that it reduces your stress and relaxes your body. I have a strong belief or maybe a hope that within the next few years those mindfulness techniques will combine with the physical spa therapies to give guests an overall feeling of serenity and calmness, and that they start using these mindfulness techniques in their daily lives not only when they come to the spa. You are now seeing more and more wildness resorts opening up instead of spas, where it’s basically a spa with a hotel attached, not the other way around, and you have spa treatments every single day, yoga sessions, pilates, and a silent room, where you go in to spend 30 minutes in complete silence.
What is your favourite treatment to receive? My favourite treatment would have to be a foot massage, touch my feet and I fall asleep immediately (laughs). How many treatment rooms do you have? And how big is the spa? We have got 8 single treatment rooms, 3 of which have private showers inside the rooms so they are perfect for body treatments as guests don’t have to leave the room to take a shower. We have 1 couple treatment room for couples’ massages or any other treatments. We also have 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms separately for males and females, and the spa area excluding the gym is around 250 square meters. How is the Ritz Carlton spa different than any other global spa? I think that comes in line with the fact that the concept is still fairly new in Cairo. I think that there are a lot of different trends and avenues that spas can tap into such as, beauty treatments, facial treatments, medical skin care, which I personally very passionate about because I practiced cosmetics back in Africa. People still focus on massages and facials when they open a spa, but when you look at spas outside, there is extra attention and extra aspects of exercise and again mindfulness. Unfortunately, and I hope this changes, the focus of spas in Egypt is only
on massages. I am sure with time as the spa concept bolds in Egypt, things will change. Do you have a signature treatment? We do and it’s very exciting. We are the only spa to offer ‘The Peloid Treatment Chamber,’ which starts with the coconut full body exfoliation that we mentioned before. You then get 4 different mud wraps (black tea, vanilla, dead sea and rose clay). You enter a private steam room while you have that mud on your body for 20 minutes, which relaxes you. That all ends with either a full body massage or just the application of a vanilla body butter. What are your latest promotions? We will be starting our cabana promotions starting this April. We have cabanas available for day use from 9 am to 6 pm and we move into the summer season we actually will be lengthening that time until 10 pm. The cabana takes maximum 2 adults and 2 children. You have a selection of dried fruit and nuts, complimentary water, soft drinks and a welcome fruit amenity. You also have a big screen TV, a couch and private shower. I think these cabanas will be very useful especially for families. We will also have a kids’ cabana, which have bean bags instead of couches and tables, a play station, board games, cards..etc. We will also be offering different activities such as face painting, and for the Easter specifically, we will offer egg colouring competitions, egg races, egg smashing contest and much more. We will also be offering pilates and yoga session soon with qualified trainers. We have got 4 different City Resort Membership programs, which allow you to get benefits from the entire hotel, which include, a 1 month membership, 3 months membership, 6 months and 12 months. The Platinum membership which is the annual one gives you daily access to the swimming pool, daily access to the spa facilities and the gym, personal training sessions with qualified trainers, assessments in the gym, 4 treatments (2 massages and 2 body scrubs) as well as a 10% discount on any other treatment you book. You also get 6 passes so you can get your friends and/ or family, you get a 1 night stay in a deluxe room, you get to enjoy dinner with one person at any of our venues 5 times a year, you get a personalized bathrobe with your initials, and every month you get a set of spa amentias. These are only some of the benefits you’d get from the membership.

Capricorn Dec.23 - Jan.20 April 2016 is an interesting month for your love life, with complex directions. This month gives a certain need of intimacy and emotional security. The warmth of home and family could give you the needed and sufficient guarantees of emotional comfort. It’s unlikely that April 2016 would bring new initiatives in your career or business. It looks more like the continuation of projects and activities already initiated, using tried, efficient, secure methods. The term is good for consolidating, re-launching, promoting talents or products that exist already or are well-established. The qualities that could lead you toward success in April 2016 are creativity, inventiveness, and adaptability. Jan.21 - Feb.19 April 2016 is full of angst in your love life. Everything is in motion, everything involves interaction. Travel and communication are the center of the most significant events of the month. Dates and romantic travel, short escapades in two somewhere nearby or travel motivated by feelings. Discussions, declarations, exchanges of impressions and correspondence are excellent for connections. Shared intellectual pursuits could also contribute to strengthening your couple. Also, interest in house/home and kids could be accentuated. Even if you’re on the right track in your career life, you could encounter obstacles that slow you down, or face unexpected complications or changes. Your finances need strategies that are as wise as possible during this term. But your mind works great, being perfectly adapted to intellectual effort, ideas, and initiatives, and you’re unbeatable when it comes .to communicating
Pisces Feb.20 - Mar.21 Luck is on your side until September 2016. Relationship-related needs are great, you have a lot to give, and favourable circumstances in terms of emotions are more frequent than during other terms. This month emphasizes the importance of communication for the health of the relationship or to find the right partner, announces revealing discussions, meetings, and travel with a strong impact on your love life. On the other hand, this month shows either an interest of the couple in certain financial aspects, or a tendency to make emotional choices influenced by practical, material aspects. April 2016 and the next few weeks don’t look at all easy when it comes to career. Things could become more complicated, stagnate temporarily or take un unexpected turn after April 17 2016. But, April 2016 is productive in terms of finances. Focus on important things and plan your agenda !carefully

You attract attention, glances, and luck in love, this month brings you joy and satisfaction. It’s a time when you can meet your soul mate, if that’s what you’re looking for, or when you can enjoy small pleasures and short escapades, if all you want to do is to have fun without taking on any commitments. This month gives you authority and good presence, and promises opportunities to advance and stand out. It also contributes to your achievements: through relations, diplomacy, ability to make others like you, and, in some situations, through sheer luck! Maybe sometimes you feel like your work-related efforts aren’t focused or that you’re not advancing .fast enough

You’ve seen better times. April 2016 doesn’t seem to offer too much cause for love-related happiness. You can deal with the term well if you’re as rational as possible, and you can, or if you focus your energy on other areas of interest. The love-related hurdles aren’t long-lasting (you have a healthy dose of luck in love, by nature), but it can be irritating and might affect you financially. This month brings to the forefront activities that have to do with the intellectual area (information, learning, writing, calculating, adding up, and so on), communication (presentations, speeches, negotiations, intense correspondence), mobility and travels, initiative and various actions, paperwork, documents, files. It’s a very dynamic term of your’ lives, full of success particularly during the last decan. Financial matters are hot topics in April 2016 and you might be tempted to make important decisions. Weigh your opportunities with great, great care!
In April 2016, your love life remains a delicate topic. This month might bring coldness, estrangement, rigidity, blockages or obstacles, as well as bring tensions, challenges, stress, and even conflicts. Also, this month is unfavorable for harmony between partners, and puts to the test the durability of your connections. In some cases, the couple could face trouble that comes from the outside or struggle with joint responsibilities that they’re having a hard time keeping up with. In other cases, your partner could go through a tough time. All you can do under such conditions is keep calm and diplomatic, be understanding with your partner, resolve as many tensions as you can. April 2016 is a difficult month in regard to collaborations, contracts, and client relations, competition, rivalries or litigations. In the case of each of them you’re advised to use patience, tact, and caution. The negative potential could be overcome by decisive action.

In April 2016, you must accept things as they are, you can’t change them. Your love life is either subordinated to or influenced by responsibilities. You do what you have to more than what you want. During this month, you could achieve something significant, but the price you pay is great. You’re in for weeks of hard work, overtime, difficult tasks, tense atmosphere, and various complications. You make it only through faultless organizing and angel-like patience. Collaborations are tricky, and promises of support and protection aren’t reliable. A financial surprise could appear during the second week of April 2016, but other than that it’s smooth sailing. Health before anything else! Regardless of any other emergencies, you can’t allow health to slip your mind. In case of medical issues, you can’t afford to postpone resolving them or be a pinchpenny.
Sexual matters and preoccupations related to kids or an eventual pregnancy seem to be topics of interest in your love life during April 2016. These topics might trigger agitation, tensions or frustrations. Happiness in love isn’t likely in April. Love born particularly after April 17 start under unfavorable auspices. In your love life, the astral configuration of April 2016 is, however, favorable from a particular point of view: that where twin-spirits find each other, or where feelings manage to overcome geographical distances. This month encourage intellectual pursuits, like higher education or masters, research, culture or philosophy. Activities related to legislation, traveling for work, tourism, exterior commerce, or long-distance business (online, for instance) are also favoured. Money is in your focus of Leos more than ever.

Love, marriage, or your loved one remain hot topics during April 2016. Your emotional availability is heightened, you have a greater need for tenderness and have more love to offer. However, things don’t go well. You might not pick the best person, get complacent in a confusing relationship or encounter situations that work against you, obstruct you. During April 2016, and also the next month, most likely, a particular relationship-related discomfort could have to do with home, property, parents or family in general. But, April is a good term particularly for analyzing the psychology of your partner and the finer mechanisms based on which the relationship works. Also, you might interact with a higher education or research environment, begin creative work, publish some paper or have to do with editorial circles, or take classes.
April 2016 is a dynamic and significant month when it comes to your loved one or partner, making relationships the focus point and allowing other preoccupations to sort themselves out depending on them. The period between April 5 and 30 brings hope, opportunity, love, and harmony. Everything could seem perfect, and things could be really good, up to a point. Your collaborations, team work, clientele, and contracts are of particular interest during April 2016, generating significant events and important decisions. Here there’s always room for improvement, it takes patience, finesse, and know-how. There might be activities this month that engage your intellectual resources, your ability to create, find and manage information, your public speaking or writing talent, your inventiveness, innovative spirit, flexibility and mobility, both mental and physical.

There’s a lot to say about your relationships in April 2016. And a lot to say in the relationships themselves. This month communication is essential. Some topics will be turned on all sides, other old ones will be brought up again, even sensitive topics will be approached. Words have to be skillfully and carefully wielded because partners getting closer or more distant, harmony or discord hinges on them. Another trait of April 2016 is the impact that work and/or responsibilities have on your relationship. Even work-place romance is possible. In terms of career, satisfactions will make an appearance soon. This month gives you more authority, more freedom of action and decision in your field of work, emphasizes you and brings you recognition. It makes your work more pleasant, your tasks easier to fulfill, your work relations more agreeable. Work is productive, but it’s important to know how to manage the money you earn.
During April 2016 there are some restrictions concerning the way the couple functions. Maybe responsibilities need to be shared or professional duties limit interactions between partners. Or maybe you feel you’re somewhat subordinated to your partner’s demands/desires, and it takes away from your freedom. All of this stands particularly for older, steady, official relationships. But there’s a considerable emotional and erotic potential that manifests itself particularly in new, passionate, no-strings-attached romance. April 2016 is an active month in terms of career. On the one hand, you have initiative and are driven to act, on the other, reaching goals require strenuous effort, discipline, and responsibility. It’s possible that intellectual effort, accounting, communication or travels have a decisive role in your professional evolution.

Reasons to Travel to The North Coast ‘Before the Summer Crowds.’
In April of 2016, salient Director Mohamed Khan makes his return to the big screen with his latest film ‘Before the Summer Crowds. The film’s events take place during a week highlighting the lives of five characters as they cross paths in a seaside resort, going through the complexities of love, jealousy, lust and disappointment. Like the characters of the movie, this Easter, we brought you 6 reasons why you should hit the road to the North Coast ‘Before the Summer Crowds.’
1
There is always a Gomaa Outside of the summer season, the North Coast resorts are virtually abandoned, but life goes on inside somehow. Someone has to remain there to handle the gardening work and deliver whatever the resort’s residents need during the time of their stay. You’ll always find someone passing by, asking if you need anything. This is Gomaa, played by young actor Ahmed Dawood, who looks after the chalet, providing his services to the resort’s residents. During the summer vacation, he witnesses the strange events taking place in the resort, and we discover that he is more than an obedient servant. Escaping Cairo Doctor Yehia (Maged El Kedwany) literally escapes to the North Coast after a scandal breaks out in the hospital he is in charge of. During the winter, the North Coast becomes a self-imposed exile in an attempt to escape from the suffocating issues surrounding you in Cairo. But is escaping enough to restore inner peace? Or will the emptiness drive you to an unexpected adventure? Especially when your neighbour is a woman living alone and always dressed in a one-piece swimsuit! What Yehia believes is that a widow wears a two-piece swimsuit, while a divorced woman always puts on a one-piece suit, so he considers it a chance to get to know her.

Translating the books…and other secrets The peace and quiet that precedes the summer crowds is a suitable time for handling unfinished business such as, the translation of a book away from family troubles. But, Hala (Hana Shiha) will not touch that book throughout the film. The main reason why she is in the North Coast at that time is to spend time with her secret lover away from the eyes of society, who only sees her as a beautiful divorced woman. That was the plan, but spending one night with her secret lover leads to more problems. On the North Coast, no one cares about your baldness.. Anyone who has seen Hesham’s (Hany El Metennawy) films has no idea that he actually wears a wig to hide his bald head. As a B-list actor, Hesham has to constantly hold onto his perfect image, including wearing a wig and a ridiculous tight bathing suit. However, as he spends time with his lover, spontaneous incidents such as, her almost drowning, cause his wig to fall off, and other aspects of his personality finally make an appearance. What happens in the North Coast, stays in the North Coast From the very beginning, Magda, Lana Mushtaq, knows that her husband cares about more beautiful women than her,

knowing that the women he meets online are harmless. However, it is difficult to be nonchalant when your husband is being overly attentive to a woman sitting right in front of you at the dinner table. It is an intense love triangle, and its intensity increases with the social backgrounds that are driving Magda to make sure her family stays together such as, belonging to a higher social circle than her husband and that her father was opposed to their marriage before he got to know him and trusted him enough to run the hospital, which is now engulfed in scandal due to her husband’s bad management. Gomaa’s Eyes Khan created the film so, we can see the action through Gomaa’s perspective as he looks on everything that happens in wonderment and curiosity. He is a young man, who has just finished his military service, and came to the resort as a temp for his brother. Everyone deals with Gomaa as a prop unworthy of notice in the resort, but through Gomaa’s eyes we are able to see all their flaws and weaknesses. There is something going on between him and the lovely divorcee, who is shocked at her lover, and he also realizes the unhealthy relationship between Yehia and Magda. He is full of dreams at the moment and everyone needs him now amidst their silent struggles.
