HOW TO SURVIVE 2017 No need to be pessimistic and address the future and the unknown with a tone of fear, suspicion or occupy your mind with what is coming. Since we can’t change or shape the universe around us the way we want, we can control what to do and how to be prepared to face anything, be it good or bad. Check our Well Said section this month, which discuss the points of whether you are a woman warrior, who has a mindset of her own and can control her world and get the best out of it or not. The stereotypical image of a submissive tender and loving piece of candy girl is not the ideal form of a woman nowadays, a woman is required to work hard, be firm and at times

to give up on some of her feminine features in order to dig herself a place in the world and have a say that would be heard and respected by men before other women. I believe that the ultimate mean of being happy is to be prepared for all the scenarios, the worst one before the best to give you the self confidence you need to carry on and clear your mind from the dozens of ‘what if’s’ that crosses your mind daily. I am not being pessimistic, it is just a wakeup call to all the ladies out there to put themselves on the top of the list in order to be able to take care of all those who matter to her and to survive not only 2017 with whatever it brings, but life in general.

IS ‘WILL & GRACE’ RETURNING TO TV?!

‘LA LA LAND’ WINS BEST PICTURE AT 2016 CRITICS’ CHOICE AWARDS

After an election-themed webisode of the beloved TV show was surprised-dropped in September 2016, two decades after the groundbreaking series ended, it appears an actual reboot is in the works. Megan Mullally basically confirmed that the sitcom, which ran for eight seasons from 1998-2006, is heading back to its original home at NBC. “All I can say is that there is a very good chance that that might happen,” Mullally, who played liquor-loving Karen Walker on the Emmy-winning program, says.

Stacey Bendet’s Fall 2016 collection for Alice + Olivia For Bendet, this collection is a modern ode to the late seventies downtown art scene; where rock and roll edge meets geek chic glamour. New York was kaleidoscope of colours by the artist Frank Stella. Bendet has created a world of underground subway stations, artbleak and dangerous, financially bankrupt but culturally rich as the art and music scenes boomed. The air was filled with perilous possibilities and a melting pot of cool culture. The collection is comprised of an eclectic sensual mix of pieces with a palette referencing the ist studios, and rock and roll vinyl backdrops for this strong, sexy and vibrant collection. Its foundation is built on the color juxtaposition of bright staples and dark compliments. Autumnal jewel tones include ruby, dark turquoise, mustard, cobalt blue, and copper contrasted by dusty pink, charcoal, and black. The intricate details of this collection feature the likes of beadwork birds, butterflies, and owls, alluding to the idea of this creative urban jungle.

Multi-colored knits and robust prints add exciting elements to this collection’s framework. Leopard and romantic florals are the focus, easily offset by the more playful graphics incorporated into this season. There is a sense of personality and sophistication in Bendet’s thoughtfully embellished pieces. Silhouettes range from strong suiting to soft feminine embellished midi- skirts, beautifully embroidered gowns, brocade shift-dresses, beaded bell bottoms and feminine bow-tie blouses creating a well-balanced collection. Sweet separates make layering look and feel effortless while adding an element of individuality. The rich accessories show attention to detail, continuing the delicate beadwork seen in the Ready-to-Wear. Shoe styles range from cool suede boots, T-strap Mary Janes to sultry slides. Suede color-blocked bowling bags make for a rich addition to the collection. Standing together these beautiful, bold looks perfectly complement the richly embellished novelty pieces, creating an experience that celebrates every women’s unique individuality and power to be a bright light in a gritty city.

Haitham Gouzlan The Man Behind Gouzlan Jewelry

l

ounge went up-close & personal with Haitham Gouzlan to tell us all about his family business, how he developed it, what distinguishes it from any other Jewelry line and what the latest trends for 2017 are..

LOUNGE 22

Introduce yourself to Lounge readers I am Haitham Gouzlan, I graduated from AAST majored in Business Administration. I started my career as a jewelry designer, it was a journey as it was my family business. Many years ago the jewelry industry in Egypt was limited to the usual items found worldwide. Gouzlan Group Egypt dedicated itself to create the art of producing old Egyptian Jewelry in a modern way. The founder of the group was my father Said Gouzlan, who worked tirelessly to bring back to life the culture of the ancient Egyptian Pharaonic civilization, which had attracted the world from its Far East to its extreme West. The Gouzlan Group have successfully developed and marketed their business over the past 48 years. I always loved jewelry since I was a kid. You could not drag me away from the windows of every jewelry store. So, after working with my father in his Gouzlan stores in Khan ElKhalili, I wanted to pursue something of my own, and so I opened my own shops and new line Angelica. What inspires you? Many visual details and experiences influence my work. I am inspired because I am attracted to certain things, not necessarily that I want to imitate them. I love Frida Kahlo’s work. I would pick out certain details from one of her very ornate portraits and be influenced by the shapes. I love the art deco period. I sometimes look at something from that period, and see what I can take away and still have something wonderful. I describe my own work as very unique and simple yet, they have a character in a way of luring you

in with their depth and intricacy. Which piece is the closest to your heart? Oh that is a hard one. I would say that the ones that were the most difficult and had challenges were also the ones that stayed with me the longest. I created an elliptical ring with suspended 2 carat diamond in the middle for a woman, who inherited the diamond from her mother. The finished piece was so much more than I expected while making it. To me, it was such a sculpture that changed when looking at it from all sides. Describe your ideal client… My ideal client is both men and women who usually want something a little different, know they have their own style, and/or who want to feel it reveals something about their taste and themselves rather than following the crowd, a label or a trend, and they usually are pretty sure about what they like, they like clean lines. Many like contemporary art, modern design, and often are creative. They are usually well travelled, well educated, open to diversity and like to have their own expression. Describe Gouzlan jewelry.. It is authentic, innovative, spiritual, personal, and visionary. Who are the celebrities that wore your designs and the celebrities you wish to see them wearing Gouzlan Jewelry? A lot of Egyptian celebrities and fashion bloggers are my clients, but I always have a hard time answering this question because I simply want every woman to wear my jewelry! I realize that my customer doesn’t belong to a demographic, but more of a psychographic. She is fashion-forward, has

an incredible, vivacious personality and is not afraid of turning heads when she walks in a room. These are the kind of women I see wearing my jewelry. They are the ones who truly bring my collections to life! Behind every successful man a woman, does that apply to you? Definitely, my wife is my backbone, she fuels me with ambition, drive and dedication, and she offers me solid support. A great wife is there to listen to you and help you deal with issues. She offers emotional support, which makes me feel better about myself. In addition, she is fulfilling my professional goals. What are the latest trends in Jewelry for 2017? There are several, I see fashion and fine jewelry merging and the lines will continue to blur. One influences the other with the uses of gold and gemstones on the fashion lines and the uses of alternative metals and materials in the fine jewelry industry. Right now, gold is very high so, I see more things made out of silver and mixing precious gemstones, this helps with the big, bold, layered and colourful style trends that are fashionable right now. The use of diamonds brought jewelry design to another level. I see a future changing in how we buy things. The internet, social media and the mobile capabilities will change the jewelry design industry just like it will continue to change, how we buy things in general. Maybe one day we will not even need to press a key board, we will just say what we want and it will appear…credit card on file of course.

SIGNS HE IS SERIOUS ABOUT YOU

being with you in a relationship doesn’t mean that he is serious about you or in other words, him liking you doesn’t mean that he will take the next step with you. If he is serious about you, he will show you that he is if not by saying it then, certainly through his actions, which are more important. If you keep asking yourself if he is serious about you, Reem El Shennawi brought you some signs that prove that he is ...

LOUNGE 26

He is eager to see you He wants to be around you and he makes sure to check with you before he makes other plans. You are a priority in his life and he is keen to show you that you are. Spending time with you is as important as anything else. You being a priority in his schedule is a definite sign that he is serious about you. He shows interest in the things you like Whether it’s his interest too or not, if he shares with you your interests and shows interest in them then, be sure that you mean a lot to him. If he likes shopping with you, talking about girl’s stuff or watching your favourite sitcom, he is a keeper. He includes you in his interests. He doesn’t only share with you your interests but his interests as well. He is definitely serious about you if he likes and enjoys doing the things he likes with you because he enjoys it more this way. He wants to meet your friends and family Meeting his and your family and friends is always a big step because men don’t introduce women to the people they care about unless they are serious about you. If he introduces you to his family and friends then, be sure that he is serious about your relationship and he is thinking about taking it more serious. He asks for your opinion Asking for your opinion and taking advice from you is a serious sign that he respects you especially that men are known to not share as much as girls do. So, if he asks for your opinion, listen to him carefully and advice him genuinely. He shares with you As mentioned before, men don’t share that much. Sharing with you his daily routine, his work problem, his family issues..etc means a lot and you should respect that. Some men believe that sharing might make them seem weak, others believe that its personal and no one should know about his personal matters, and others just don’t know how to do it. So, one of the most important signs that he is serious about you is that he likes sharing with you. Respect what he says and don’t ever take it for granted. Don’t use what he says to you against him no matter what.

He is curious Talking with you and asking questions is very important, conversations build intimacy and thus, a serious relationship. If he is genuinely curious about what you have to say, you do have a strong basis for a serious relationship. Following up with you about your latest news and issues is important to him as much as it is important to you. He sticks to his plans with you A serious man will want to reserve time with you in advance and will make sure that he doesn’t change it. He plans with you ahead and sticks to his plans unless something very serious comes up. He also plans with you his vacations and holidays. However, you need to understand that both of you need some personal space from time to time for a healthier and serious relationship. He feels responsible for you Men like to be responsible for people they care about. He will show you that he is responsible for you and for your happiness. He will be protective over you and will take the lead when he should. He offers his help When needed, you will find him offering you his help. Whether you need his help or you don’t, he will genuinely want to help you. Be it work, friends issue or a family thing, he will want to help you and go out of his way to make you happy. He respects your career Your career and professional life do matter to him. He supports you, applauses your success and pushes you to succeed more. A serious man respects independent and successful women and will prove to you that he does. He thinks about commitment Men often freak about marriage and commitment, but if he thinks about it and he plans for it then, he is serious about you. A serious partner will plan with you, talks about commitment and more importantly takes action to do so. If he is serious about you, he will be in a point in his life where he is ready to take the next step with you.

AHMED SALAH HOSNY Jack of All Trades a

mira Tharwat talks to the football player, musician and actor Ahmed Salah Hosny, who reveals in an up-close and personal interview what it takes to master the three worlds, how he seems to master anything he does, his dream girl and so much more.. Tell us more about you‌ I graduated from Faculty of Commerce from Modern Academy and my star sign is Cancer. You have very interesting shifts in your life from football to music to acting, how did these shifts take place? I always follow what I love, which happened to my talents. I got enrolled in Modern Academy because it was the most suitable school to receive education from at that time especially that I was a football player and used to travel a lot. I was lucky to be multitalented; however, being talented is not enough, you have to work hard and sacrifice to reach your goal. I took every profession of them very seriously. My passion was to be an actor, but I was a very good football player and I actually loved it. Music was another passion that I started to practice more when I stopped playing football. I learnt guitar and started composing. I used to compose at the beginning and not write my name, the first song that I wrote my name on was a song for Amr Diab.

To what extend do you consider yourself a risk taker? I am not a risk taker at all. A lot of people around knew that I wanted to be an actor and that’s how I received a lot of offers. But I believe that one should start from the very beginning and that’s why I started taking acting classes with Marwa Gebril and started working on myself for 6 years. My comfort zone is in the thing that I believe in. I believe that luck comes when you work hard. How do you feel your performance has changed as an actor since your first appearance in ‘Sharbat Loz’ till today? It has dramtically changed of course to the extent that I wish I would go back in time and do the things that I have done differently (laughs). I was just telling Tamer Habib that I wish I would do my role in ‘Sharbat Loz’ again. It’s not how much education you receive, it’s the experience and practice that make all the changes. Tell us more about your most anticipated movie ‘Mish Rayheen Fe Dahya’… It’s a light-comedy movie that is presented in a very respectful manner. It talks about the relationships between 3 men and 3 women who fooled the 3 men. I finished shooting, but I am not certain about the exact date of the release hopefully around the New Year or the Valentine’s. What attracts you the most to a girl? Her self confidence and her talents, I get very attracted to talents and how one work on them. A girl’s smile also attracts me. Describe your dream girl? I don’t have a specific description, you become acquainted with your partner and get familiar with one another by time. I like people who are happy with what they have, they work hard and still are happy with what they have. Do you mind if she works in the same field? I don’t mind at all, she should be ambitious and has a goal in life. How do you stay fit? I got used to playing sports. I go to the gym regularly. What is your favourite perfume? One Million and Tom Ford

HOTELS EXPERTS welcoming 2017 with a glimpse of hope and spreading positivity as promised, Amira Tharwat brought you the inspiring success stories of three Egyptian women, who made it to the top of the hotel industry. We went up-close and personal with Eman Elyasaky, Area Director of Public Relations ‎ ead Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski, Engy Belal, H of Public Relations & Communications, S ‎ oma Bay Development Company and the newly opened Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir’s PR & Marketing Manager Iman El Mahdy.

EMAN ELYASAKY

Area Director of Public Relations of Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski Tell us more about yourself My name is Eman Yasaky AKA to friends and family as Mimi. I studied Business and I am 38 years old mother, who was born stuck between two star signs (Virgo and Libra) that explains the confusion, but I see myself more of a Libra extremely sociable, passionate and in love with life and all the surprises it brings although I inherited some of the Virgo’s not so cool traits, I can spot a hair in the furthest corner of an immaculate room. You mentioned in an interview that you started your PR career at the age of 7, tell us more.. Very true if not earlier, I just don’t seem to see it as a profession. It’s an absolute passion and joy, and by the way we all have it in us, it just differs in the way we do it. Think of yourself as a kid who is desperate to get his favourite candy, it all depends on how he sends out the message, to which stake holders (in this case grandma, parents, elder brother ) and finally the end result, which is actually getting this candy. Besides being one of the top PR Directors in Egypt, what are your hobbies? I simply love reading, I can’t get enough of that

LOUNGE 36

and it actually takes me place.. I enjoy traveling a lot and exploring new cultures. Being the newest Palace in Egypt, what does Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski offer their guests that is different from any other hotel? Presenting guests with authentic European service, Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski invites visitors to experience true luxury. The hotel is an excellent base from which to explore Cairo, featuring a distinctive exterior that evokes Europe’s regal architectural style of Austria. Each of the 245 rooms and suites is outfitted with comfortable and elegant fittings and furnishings. The location’s amenities are similarly first-rate, comprising nine exceptional restaurants, ten customizable meeting rooms, and Egypt’s largest ballroom. In all, the hotel is a perfect location from which to enjoy the best of life’s luxuries. Who are the people that were behind your success? I would say my family who provided me with no conditional love; they all act as true pillars of support. They never questioned my choice for the hectic lifestyle and what my career brings on

the table or any of my decisions since I was 16, I was always given the liberty to do as I please. My daughter acts as a great motive too, I always want to make her proud so, I do my very best to set the right example. Throughout my career I have been blessed with great bosses, who had the keen eye for identifying talents, who believed in me and always put me on the right track. How do you see the future of business in Egypt? Egypt was known throughout its history as a destination for tourists and travelers since it was visited by “Herodotus” during the ancient time, when he got surprised because of the vast difference between Egypt and his homeland. Egypt maintained this image throughout the middle and modern history. However, the discovery of the Pharaonic antiquities long time ago has added a special charm to Egypt, besides its unique religious and cultural monuments. On the other hand, Egypt enjoys a geographical location, and a moderate climate all the year-round, along with its smooth vast coastlines, and beaches with its unique treasures of coral reefs, providing Egypt with advantages of a competitive edge. What are your tips for the upcoming entrepreneurs who want to succeed in the business world? Believe in your choices, do what you love and do it with a lot of passion. Mistakes are lessons, embrace them, do not regret and never look back.

ENGY BELAL

Head of Public Relations & Communications, ‎Soma Bay Development Company Tell us more about yourself I graduated from Alsun University and I majored in English Literature and minored in German. I am a typical Sagittarius; sociable, fun-loving and determined to live life to the fullest. Regarding the age question, I actually perceive age as a number, that’s how I never grow old Besides being one of the top PR Directors in Egypt, what are your hobbies? You can say I’ve always been a peoples’ person, no wonder I am in love with PR. One of my favourite hobbies in life is getting to know people. It’s a bit of a game with rules, but it’s never clear what the rules are. I’m a social butterfly, I’d walk into a room full of strangers and leave with friends. That is what I have always enjoyed doing as a child, which has actually driven me to succeed in the field of PR. Besides that, I’m passionate about Jewellery design. I actually seized the opportunity that my husband owns a jewellery shop “Gouzlan,” and launched my own line, which is basically an original reflection of everything I as Engy stand for. Check my Instagram account EngyGZ and Facebook page Gouzlan What are the biggest challenges you encounter being responsible for a whole resort? Somabay is a whole destination; it is a world of its own. If we look at the bigger picture, it is actually the most happening destination in the Red Sea and my job is to ensure that each and every single detail falls into perfect place every day to maintain its image and reputation. Every morning, I wake up to take on challenges with my team and turn them into opportunities to exceed clients’ expectations. The key to do that is planned and continuous efforts to create good communication channels with our clients to influence public opinion and choice. And that certainly isn’t easy, but through dedication, persuasion and professional communication, Somabay has managed to build itself an unrivalled reputation, thanks to the collective efforts of every single person in the organization and on my team. 2016 was a golden year for Soma Bay, thanks to the successful concerts that were hosted all year long, how did the idea of bringing 90’s stars to Egypt come about? In light of all the unfortunate events Egypt has witnessed in the past couple of years, the Red Sea was in dire need of revival as a destination. There was a strategic need to reassure people that it is actually safe and pumping with life. “Revival” was the core driver that made us think of bringing back a loved yet, forgotten era of golden pop. By doing so, we were strategically hitting two birds with one stone as we say; reviving the Red Sea as a destination through the revival of the 90’s era. Who are the people behind your success? My husband is my backbone and biggest support system. I would have never made it without his constant encouragement and him accommodating me in times of stress or workload. I always say that the greatest gift anyone could give another person is to believe

in them and I’m lucky I’m given this gift everyday from my family too. How do you see the future of business in Egypt? I’m very optimistic in a matter of fact, regardless of all the tough challenges that we are currently facing as a nation. I strongly believe that Egypt as a country has so much to offer and that we as citizens are crucial drivers of change every day. Through hard work and dedication, we can change things around and revive its glory. It is at times of hardships like those that Egyptians

have shown their true colours throughout history to rise above it all. We’ve done it before and I’m certain we will do it all over again and show the world what we are really made of. What are your tips for the upcoming entrepreneurs who want to succeed in the business world? Be an original and always think out of the box. Believe in yourself and see opportunities in every challenge because that is actually what will make you stand out. Do it with passion and love or do not do it at all.

IMAN EL MAHDY Marketing & PR Manager of Steignberger Hotel Tahrir

Tell us more about yourself... I graduated from Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University with a degree in Sociology. Studying Sociology has helped me to have a more objective look at our society and has also provided me with valuable insights into how human behaviour is shaped and influenced by the societal forces. I am a Libra, who cares deeply about fair-play and justice. You can never win Libra’s respect if you are dishonest or unfair. How does your study in sociology help you in your career as Marketing & PR Manager? Studying Sociology helped in developing my analytical thinking and capabilities. Working in Marketing & PR with a Sociology background has enabled me to anticipate customers’ needs and guests’ satisfaction. Sociology is fundamental to the PR department of any major company. It has also enabled me to see how certain actions by the company will affect its customers based on their culture and economic backgrounds. Besides Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir’s captivating location, what else distinguishes it from any other hotel in the heart of Cairo? We as Steigenberger Hotel bring a unique product to this locale. We provide budgeted and quality minded guests with an adequate facility, which is consistently perceived as caring, comfortable, and staffed by welcoming attentive people. We bring excellence and style, which go hand-in-hand with the name Steigenberger. Our product stands alongside every other luxury hotel in the area, in terms of quality and service, we believe we are launching a new era for hotels. How do you see the future of the hospitality industry in Egypt? The outlook of travel and tourism industry in Egypt in 2017 remains healthy, despite economic fragilities and other sources of volatility. The government has accomplished great efforts in terms of security and safety. Additionally, the recent devaluation of the Egyptian pound decision by the Central Bank of Egypt has a positive impact on the tourism sector. The devaluation created a good value for money providing affordable services to tourists, which are the keys to attracting tourism. We are realistic about the political situation in the region, but there are positive signs regarding flights to the Red Sea resorts, which will help revive that market. Who is Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir’s ideal guest? You are! Let me explain. Every single guest, client and traveler who walks through our

LOUNGE 38

door and into the lobby is our ideal guest, and every single one of them will be treated with the same level of service, attention, care and excellence that makes the Steigenberger name respected in the hospitality industry. We don’t restrict ourselves to a particular segment; we want to attract everybody. But of course, there will be more focus on certain sections of the market - business, the GCC region, diplomatic and embassy business and of course holiday

makers. What are your tips for the upcoming entrepreneurs who want to succeed in the business world? I have been in the hospitality industry for 22 years, my secret recipe for entrepreneurs in this industry is to always challenge yourself, and treat life as a continuous educational process, in addition to taking the risk and don’t regret failure, but regret not trying.

serving the business needs in the areas of government relations and investment affairs. We are very proud to be offering all types of communications in a very unique yet sophisticated way. Influence is backboned with a very professional team owning a great experience in the field. Throughout our operating years, we were lucky to lead a number of successful and impactful national campaigns in different sectors such as the energy, Automotive, FMCG and financial sectors. Who are your clients? We proudly have a very strong and highly diversified portfolio of clients. Our business partners comprise some of the most famous and widely recognized market leaders at the local and International levels. Influence clients’ list includes – but is not limited to – Coca Cola, GM, Huawei, Nissan, Juhayna, Barclays Bank, Tetra Pak, McDonald’s, HC Investment and Securities, Unilever, Siemens, Etisalat and Adidas. In this respect I can proudly claim that we have the highest

client retention rate, some of our current clients existed since establishment, which is rare in such a dynamic market and is an indication for our high agility and creativity in addressing our partners’ changing needs. Give us a close snapshot on Influence most impactful campaigns. As I told you at the beginning, we are keen on deriving excellence through impactful results, that’s why we have led some of the most challenging campaigns in Egypt. Those campaigns succeeded over the years to alter the public perception and impact people’s lives in a positive way. We are very proud that we handled the ‘Packed Milk campaign’, the Hand Washing Day campaign,’ managing the first visit of the World Cup trophy tour to Egypt and Copa Coca Cola initiative. We have also worked on some strategic lobbying campaigns to raise attention to some sector-related challenges and potentials in the energy and financial sectors in Egypt. In addition to handling different CSR campaigns either

for our clients or volunteering to some good cause initiatives. What distinguishes your company from any other PR and Marketing agency? We are distinguished by our people!! We are very keen to mix between the best-inclass calibers and the young skilled talents in a way that ensures a fully integrated learning curve to our core human asset. Influence is not merely an employer; it rather introduces a learning concept and philosophy. We nurture our talents on the concepts of teamwork, commitment, agility and passion. We make sure to empower our people in every possible way while giving them the chance to own the full circle of field knowledge. We rely on a ‘winning team’ spirit in a very friendly and highly synchronized atmosphere, which has driven our reputation as ‘talents nurturer.’ Moreover, we base our work on research, pay attention to details and seek perfection all over the way. The financial aspects were never our driving force, instead we focus on doing the job and doing it with passion. How do you measure the effectiveness of a communication campaign? I measure a campaign’s effectiveness by 3 stages. The client satisfaction stage, the word of mouth and finally the campaign practical impact on-ground. The first stage is very subjective and can be based mainly on the set communication goals and objectives. The word of mouth is important, whether people agree or disagree with the campaign content; its soundness plays a crucial role at this stage. Finally, creating a positive impact on ground and influencing people’s lives is the ultimate goal behind any campaign. What inspires you to promote any campaign? And what do you do if you run out of ideas?

“We know what we have to do and we make sure to do it right.” It’s all about brainstorming here. I totally believe in the meaning of the proverb “two heads are better than one”, that’s why we are inspired and motivated through sharing knowledge and ideas. We think together and come up with the best decision. Actually, we never run out of ideas because we all have been working in this field for years and we have stored a lot of thoughts in our minds to which we normally refer whenever needed. What are the challenges that you face nowadays? The biggest challenge the whole industry faces is related to talents migration over years. As for Influence it is considered a ‘talent retainer,’ especially with its less than fair turnover rate. Whereas to overcome this challenge we consistently inject into our business young skilled talents who possess a great ability to learn and excel. In this respect, we are considered a ‘talent source’ that develops and grooms calibers to be able to deploy exceptional tactics and challenge every opportunity. How did the current economical situation affect you? Just like everyone else. As a consequence of the current challenging economic status, we suffer from the imbalance between the

delayed payments from our client and the business financial liabilities. We try to buffer through consistent financial analysis and forecasts; however, it doesn’t always work in a preferred direction given the current blurry scene. How do you see the economical situation in Egypt in the future? The current situation had to happen and most of recent economic decisions that have been taken were a must for Egypt to grow. The currency floatation for example and removing subsidies had to happen years ago and other decisions as well. These decisions have their short-term negative impact, but the long-term benefits will be very fruitful and I hope that we swiftly pass to the next phase. I am optimistic and think we are moving in the right direction, we just need to be patient and take some time to absorb all those surges and challenging circumstances. What is your advice to young people who want to start their own business in the field nowadays? I personally believe in the power of youth. I started this business when I was 26 and overcame all the challenges to make my dream come true. Focusing on the profit at the business early stages can never drive success. On the contrary, one shall always focus on the results and try hard to build his/ her business reputation at the beginning. Unfortunately, people are impatient and youth are usually driven by speed, so I advise them to focus on building their reputation and on the overall quality of work, which will in return make them realize a desired profitability. Also, investing in the business calibers is vital as they are the most valuable asset to the business growth and sustainability.

“I advise young entrepreneurs at the communications sector to focus at the beginning on building their reputation and deliver quality work rather than financial profitability… money will come later.”

You quit your job on the peak of your career to start from the bottom in a very different field.

You never settle for less, when it comes to relationships you know exactly what you are looking for and know that you deserve it. You have at least 2 childhood friends, who are still the closest to your heart and no matter where life takes you, you know how to stay in touch. You don’t go with the flow because you know very well that only dead fish does.

You are a trend-setter; you are the one who set the trend at your circle of friends and you don’t care if it’s IN or not as long as you look good in it.

6

You are not obsessed with your weight, you eat what you like with the amount you want, you don’t even have a scale at home and you have no idea how much you weigh.

7 8 9

You are the backbone of your family even the males and everybody calls you their resort and the person they can rely on. You are financially independent and you pay for your trips, house rent and car gas.

You went on a safari and camps in the middle of the desert with nothing but fire lighting to keep you warm as well as keep the wild animals away.
