Hunting for a new home is an exciting process, and when you’re exploring new construction, the possibilities are endless. Whether you’re looking to buy your first home or your dream move-up home, don’t make a move without checking out how new construction can make your life better. So, what does building or buying new really get you?

Floor Plan & Layout:

By buying or building new, you’re able to get your home just the way you want it. You can explore different floor plans to find the one that fits with your lifestyle and make layout decisions that will impact your day-to-day living. By having these choices, you can ensure it is compatible with your lifestyle and will shape your experience in your home for years to come.

Comfort & Health:

Indoor air quality is important to maintaining your family’s health. New homes are built to incorporate the latest in building science, so they’re simply better at keeping the air clean and circulating properly.

Energy Efficiency:

New homes are tighter and better insulated than older homes, ensuring your heating and cooling costs are lower. Many are even independently energy tested by a RESNET rater and provide a Green Path Home Performance Report to help you compare expected energy use between homes.

Maintenance & Warranties:

An older home likely has older products that will soon need replacing. New means you have plenty of time before your home, appliances, fixtures, and finishes start showing wear. And your new home is under warranty, assuring you that if there is a defect, it will be corrected.

Technology:

New homes boast the latest generation of products like thermostats, security systems, appliances, theater equipment, and lighting — most designed specifically to connect through smart tech. They’re created with today’s consumer in mind, and the technology incorporated can help you live more efficiently.

LENNAR

Safety:

Peace of mind in your home is important. With today’s building codes and technology, a new home provides more safety than ever for your family. Safety features such as interconnected smoke detectors, passive and active radon mitigation systems, and closed combustion appliances are built right into every new home and inspected by your city’s building official.

It’s All New:

There really is something magical about stepping into your new home for the first time. Fresh carpets, pristine painted walls, unmarred countertops, unstained garage floors – everything in your new home is shiny and clean, and, since you picked them out, the finishes reflect your style.

VETERANS IN NEED BUILDING HOPE FOR MINNESOTA ’S

Homelessness among Minnesota’s veterans remains a critical challenge, but a groundbreaking initiative is offering hope and stability. The Housing First Minnesota Foundation, in partnership with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and Lennar, has launched the Veteran Village project — a first-of-its-kind townhome community for veterans experiencing homelessness.

A Mission to Serve

The Veteran Village project is the latest effort by the Foundation to address housing insecurity and create lasting change. The initiative, supported by the Foundation’s largest fundraising campaign to date, aims to provide safe, stable housing and a path to independence for those who have served our country.

“Veteran Village represents not only a place to live but a foundation for rebuilding lives,” says Jessica Ryan, executive director of Housing First Minnesota Foundation. “Through this partnership, we’re making a tangible difference for veterans facing homelessness.”

This project is the result of a powerful collaboration. MACV brings

decades of expertise in supporting Minnesota’s veterans, while Lennar contributes its industry-leading homebuilding experience. Together, these organizations — with the support of the Foundation — are creating a sustainable solution to one of the state’s most pressing challenges.

“MACV, the Housing First Foundation, and Lennar formed a partnership seven years ago with the vision of ending veterans homelessness in the state of Minnesota,” says Bill Burgess, division president of Lennar Minnesota. “After building 15 homes, along with the start of Veteran Village in Eagan, Minnesota is on the cusp of being only the fourth state to be able to declare an effective end to veteran homelessness.”

HOW YOU CAN HELP

In addition to housing, residents will have access to MACV’s support services, ensuring they have the resources needed to thrive.

Veteran Village builds on the Foundation’s history of impactful projects. Recently, three homes were completed in North Minneapolis for veterans, offering stability and security to those in need.

“We are proud that our association, industry, trade partners, and associates have been so focused on making this vision become reality,” says Burgess.

Building Rochester’s Future

Addressing Housing Needs and Celebrating Homeownership

Rochester has experienced a surge in growth and development over the past decade. As a hub of healthcare, innovation, and education, the city has become a magnet for professionals, families, and students alike. However, with this growth comes a critical challenge: the need for new housing to accommodate the expanding population.

The city’s robust job market, coupled with its high quality of life, has led to a significant increase in demand for housing. Yet, the supply of homes has struggled to keep pace. Newcomers and longtime residents alike are feeling the crunch, with housing availability becoming a pressing issue. The need for diverse housing options has never been more urgent.

“Study after study has shown Rochester is far behind in the production of all types of housing, but especially new, single-family homes. But that is about to change,” said Patrick Sexton, exec-

utive director of the Rochester Area Builders. “With new builders entering the market and current builders increasing their output, more people will soon have the chance to own their own home. And homeownership is the key driver in creating generational wealth.”

Why New Housing Matters

Adequate housing is essential for fostering a thriving community. A 2020 housing study revealed that Rochester would need approximately 14,000 new housing units — including multifamily, single-family, townhomes, and condos — to accommodate the city’s projected 2030 population. This estimate came before Mayo Clinic unveiled its downtown expansion plans, which will grow the need for housing at all price points even more.

In Rochester, the need for housing extends beyond simply providing shelter; it’s about creating spaces where individuals and families can build their lives, grow, and contribute

to the community.

• ECONOMIC GROWTH: Rochester’s growing industries depend on attracting and retaining top talent. A robust housing market ensures that professionals can find homes that suit their needs and budgets.

• COMMUNITY VITALITY: New housing developments bring fresh energy to neighborhoods, supporting local businesses, schools, and infrastructure.

• DIVERSE OPTIONS: With a variety of housing types, Rochester can cater to residents at every stage of life, from young professionals to retirees.

Celebrating Homeownership

The Parade of Homes serves as a reminder that homeownership is more than just a financial investment — it’s a cornerstone of stability and community. This event fosters a sense of excitement around homebuying and highlights the incredible work of local builders and developers.
