This modern rambler found its place in the scenic Deer Hill Preserve neighborhood of Medina. The homeowners’ unique Japandi aesthetic is brought to life through design choices that embody Scandinavian functionality and Japanese minimalism. To achieve this vision, Swanson Homes and Carbon 6 Interiors incorporated white oak cabinetry with frosted glass doors, white oak slat detailing, Asian-inspired wallcoverings, and clean, crisp light fixtures. A raised ceiling with white oak slat details draws attention to the focal point of the great room: floor-to-ceiling custom stonework on the fireplace.

Exterior materials were carefully chosen to embody the waterfront location. Most of the home’s lake side is glass to take in the stunning views, while a cedar shake roof, handmade white oak front door, stonework, cedar shingle siding, and custom cedar garage doors complement the surrounding nature. Traditional and timeless features found inside include custom cabinetry and handmade doors; natural stone, marble, and porcelain tilework; and white oak floors that flow throughout the open floor plan.

Waterfront views were a top priority in the design of this home, which features expansive walls of glass that offer a glimpse of the lake from every room. A floorto-ceiling fireplace features hand-forged metal with stone wrapping three sides and is the focal point of the great room. Crafted for the best of entertaining, the party lounge features a custom bar area and is just steps from the lake, patio, and hot tub.

Following the homeowners’ vision for a home full of character and rich elements, this shingle-style lodge residence is both grand and warm, highlighting intricate details, quality craftsmanship, and timeless architecture. A 10-foot island anchors the gourmet kitchen, outfitted with a wraparound scullery, Wolf appliances, and a custom antique brass hood. Navy cabinets, Cambria countertops, and a trestleshaped tile backsplash round out the area’s finishes. Ensuring that every detail had a purpose and fit with the overall design of the house, ADŌR - Bespoke Homes thoughtfully crafted this home that radiates a transitional, classic-meetscontemporary interior style from top to bottom. On the exterior, clean white siding, black window and door trim, and front porch columns evoke a modern farmhouse aesthetic. In the gathering room, the fireplace anchors the space and sets the tone for the rest of the house, featuring a linear fireplace with custom steel paneling, Venetian plaster, natural stone, and floating shelves.

Inspired by the historic cottages of Minnetonka, this abode features a traditional layout with all the modern conveniences needed for today’s active family. In keeping with a classic lakeside home, traditional cedar shake siding pairs with fieldstone and brick accents on the exterior. Inside, the aesthetic continues with a natural color palette, white oak flooring, and marble and slate tile. A mix of black, polished nickel, and soft brass metals gives the home a lived-in quality, while light fixtures were carefully selected to stand the test of time in quality, finish, and design.

Located on historic Mount Curve Avenue in Minneapolis, this collaboration between Hage Homes and Regarding Design was designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding Lowry Hill neighborhood. Featuring a Tudor-style brick masonry facade with a slate roof, timeless details and modern amenities combine across all three levels. Classical elements are featured throughout the home, including wood paneling, crown molding, cabinet built-ins, and cozy window seating, creating an ambiance steeped in tradition.

Using its expertise in sustainable construction of custom homes, Sustainable 9 Design + Build created this one-of-a-kind, modern masterpiece overlooking Bde Maka Ska that goes beyond traditional limitations. The stunning interior finishes draw you inside with a moody and masculine aesthetic. The home was thoughtfully created in collaboration with Unfold Architecture and centers around captivating views of the lake made possible by the floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the home.

Building Futures Through Housing

The Artisan Home Tour helps support the work of the Housing First Minnesota Foundation to build tangible housing solutions to end homelessness for veterans and Minnesotans in need. For more than 25 years, the Foundation has been transforming housing and impacting the lives of multiple people, over multiple years.

This year, our Foundation continues its great work by renovating four Housing for Heroes homes for Minnesota veterans experiencing homelessness. The Foundation also has plans to renovate two units in dire need of repair in an old Minneapolis apartment which is designated for women in chemical dependency treatment living with their children while in recovery.

By touring these incredible homes on the Artisan Home Tour, visitors and participants have helped raise life-changing funds to support the Foundation and make a real difference in building housing to move individuals and families from homelessness to hopefulness.

A new Samsung Bespoke refrigerator with interchangeable glass panels was the inspiration for the pops of color throughout the kitchen cabinetry, and the inspiring tilework in the bathrooms was seen as a fresh canvas for textures, colors, and lines.

The homeowners of this Edina home loved their neighborhood, but the layout of their home had a traditional split-level floor plan that was no longer meeting their needs. Modern updates and practical features added the square footage they needed with a style that fit their tastes. Through thoughtful design, Water Street was able to maintain the existing bedroom on the main level, while adding an entire upper level with four additional bedrooms and a bonus room. The main level now houses a music room, an office space, a beautiful kitchen that flows into a family room, and access to a deck to make the most of a warm Minnesota night.

From updated finishes to new surfaces, this traditionally styled home received a modern refresh while retaining its original charm. The reimagined kitchen includes two center islands, a 48-inch range and refrigerator, and ample counter space to house both a standard and prep sink. Behind, a scullery and pantry provide additional room for prep and cleanup while entertaining guests in the formal dining room. Dark brown millwork throughout was freshly painted to bring a bright and airy feel to the home, complementing new hardwood floors.
