2023 was another exciting year for the Housing First Minnesota Foundation. We were able to finish five build projects. These projects would not happen without generous support and many donations. I would like to personally thank all our donors, partners, staff, and friends for your support during 2023.
In 2023, we were able to renovate the final four apartment homes and hallways in an AVIVO building that serves as transitional housing for women and their children, while the mother seeks recovery services for addiction. It is one of the only programs in Minnesota that allows the mothers to live with their children while undergoing addiction recovery treatment.
We also continued our Housing for Heroes builds completing four homes and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) with Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and Lennar. These homes are used as transitional housing for veterans and veteran families experiencing homelessness. This brings our grand total to over 112,000 sq. ft. of housing created!
The Foundation is supported through our fundraising efforts and 2023 was a record year. Our events were the go to occasions of the year and always quickly sold out. Some of our events include the Parade of Homes Dream Homes, annual Gala, and golf tournaments. We are focused on using these fundraising dollars to help directly support Foundation projects and initiatives.
2023 was also a strategic planning year. Through this process, we mapped out a 3-year strategic plan. The plan includes objective goals around fundraising, areas of giving, and processes to make sure we are focused on the most important actions to help us in fulfilling our mission.
The Foundation is in a very strong position to make an even greater impact in 2024. I am excited to see what the future holds for the Foundation. Every donation or volunteer hour goes directly to help us achieve our mission and goal to partner with service organizations to build safe housing for Minnesotans in need and to end homelessness in Minnesota.
