300 issues of bazaar magazine. 300 intros. 300 crazy closing weeks. 300 fights about which ad or article goes where and why. 300 times we said elhamdulillah once the actual print edition came out with no mistakes in it (ok, we’re not perfect, yes, we’ve made some hilarious mistakes over the years). It’s certainly been an interesting ride. We’ve been through 9/11, the Iraq war, the so-called Arab Spring, countless recessions and depressions, and of course Covid which was probably the worst ride of all (other than Gaza of course), simply because of the sheer amounts of idiocy, racism and knee-jerk reactions of people and governments around the world.
We’ve certainly seen it all, written about it all, taken pictures of it all, and more recently, we’ve shot videos and reels of it all, created IG stories about it all, and so much more as we’ve grown, as we’ve pivoted from a publishing company that worked on its own publications and platforms into a 360 degrees content creation hub/agency/kitchen for clients from around the Middle East.
We’ve always worked hard to highlight Kuwait in the best way possible, to help it shine brightly, we’ve always strived to be a platform that promotes and raises awareness of the countless amazing young talented Kuwaitis and expats we’ve come across and interviewed and followed over the years, and the countless amazing Kuwaiti businesses that started here, and have grown regionally and internationally over the years.
It has been a super exciting ride, and i know I couldn’t have done any of it without my amazing team, who have seen it all, have been through it all, and who have persevered through all the challenges that come with working for a very liberal magazine and platform that strongly believes in human rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, and whose very motto, slogan and mantra is ‘freedom to express’.
Finally, we couldn’t have done any of this without you, our loyal readers and followers who have grown up with us over the years and who have never ceased to support us in too many ways to count, and for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Happy reading and free Palestine!

How Maha Al Hamed Brought Unique Children’s Books to Kuwait
By bazaar Staff
When Maha Al Hamed introduces herself, she begins with a statement of identity that guides her life’s journey: “I’m a mother before anything else.” Motherhood not only transformed her priorities but also ignited a new purpose— filling a gap in Kuwait’s children’s book market. Before opening Benny’s Books, Kuwait’s first curated children’s bookshop and subscription service, Maha spent years working in international diplomacy and public policy in Dubai. However, the arrival of her first child inspired her to take on a more personal mission: bringing meaningful, diverse stories to families like her own.
“In Kuwait, there wasn’t a single book subscription service for kids, which surprised me,” she recalls. “Back home, gifting book subscriptions was something I loved doing for friends and their children.” But it wasn’t just about subscriptions— it was the lack of variety and originality in local bookstores that struck her most. She often found the same titles on repeat, while many of the engaging, diverse, and beautifully illustrated books she loved remained unavailable. Determined to change this, Maha began sourcing books herself.
What started as a personal project soon grew into something bigger. “Benny’s Books began with a mix of problem-solving and passion,” she explains. She curated collections of books she adored—ones that she believed would resonate with families in Kuwait. Benny’s Books became not just a store, but a place to discover high-quality, meaningful books that could be gifted, collected, or shared as part of a lifelong love for reading.
And the name? It’s deeply personal. “Benny is the Latin translation of my son’s Arabic name,” Maha shares. “At its heart, this store is a reflection of my belief that books have the power to transform childhoods, spark connections, and inspire imagination.”
“I focus on quality over quantity,” she says. “Each book is carefully selected to fill a gap in the market—whether it’s introducing diverse voices, fresh themes, or lesser-known stories that deserve a spotlight.” This isn’t always the easiest path. Choosing books by emerging authors or unfamiliar
titles can feel like a gamble, but for Maha, it’s worth the risk. “I believe families in Kuwait deserve access to books that go beyond the usual offerings. If one book doesn’t work out, that’s okay. The process of discovery is what makes us different.”
What truly drives her selection process is a balance of research, intuition, and passion. She keeps a close pulse on global trends, following book awards, bestseller lists, and insights from her publishing partners. Yet, the heart of her approach remains deeply personal: “I look for books that resonate on multiple levels—ones with engaging illustrations, meaningful themes, or relatable characters that connect with kids and parents alike.”
For Maha, curating books isn’t just about stocking shelves—it’s about creating moments of joy, curiosity, and connection. “I want every book in our collection to feel like a hidden treasure. Whether
it’s through a subscription box or a special gift, the goal is always to help families discover stories that inspire a lifelong love of reading.”
Running a children’s bookstore in Kuwait comes with its share of challenges, but for Maha, each obstacle is an opportunity to reinforce her mission. One of the most significant hurdles she faces is managing the cost of importing high-quality books. Another challenge is shifting the mindset around reading, particularly for very young children. “Many parents don’t realize how impactful it is to introduce books at an early age. Reading isn’t just about academic success—it’s about building a connection, sparking curiosity, and fostering a love for stories,” she says. For Maha, part of her mission is educating families on the importance of reading and making it a joyful, everyday habit.
There’s also the ever-present competition with technology. “Screens are everywhere, and it’s easy
for kids to get distracted,” she shares. “But I remind families that there’s something irreplaceable about the experience of holding a book, turning its pages, and getting lost in a story. It’s tactile, immersive, and deeply meaningful.” Despite these hurdles, the response from her community has been overwhelmingly positive. “When we first launched Benny’s Books, some people were skeptical—they questioned whether a children’s bookstore could succeed here. But the loyalty and excitement from families have shown me that there’s a real need for what we offer. Seeing kids light up when they receive a new book or parents share how our subscription service has changed their reading habits makes every challenge worthwhile.”
Through passion, perseverance, and a deep belief in her mission, Maha is proving that small businesses can thrive—even in niche markets— when they’re driven by purpose and heart.
For Maha, Benny’s Books is more than just a bookstore—it’s a cornerstone for fostering community, creativity, and connection. Through thoughtful initiatives and carefully curated offerings, the bookstore has become a space where families can discover the joy of reading together.
The bookstore also contributes to the local community through sustainable practices and meaningful initiatives. Benny’s Books offers a recycling program where families can donate gently used books in exchange for store credit. “It’s our way of giving back, encouraging families to share the gift of reading while reducing waste,” she says. For every purchase made, Benny’s Books plants a tree as part of its sustainability mission. “Books inspire children to dream big, and I want to ensure that they also learn the importance of caring for our planet,” Maha adds. “It’s a small step, but it’s one that aligns with the values we want to pass on to future generations.”
Looking ahead, Maha envisions Benny’s Books becoming an even bigger part of the community through events like storytime sessions, workshops, and author visits. “We’re still in the early stages, but I see so much potential to create meaningful experiences that bring families together,” she says. “Books have the power to connect people, and I want Benny’s Books to be at the heart of that connection.”
By blending her passion for children’s literature with a commitment to her community, Maha is building more than just a bookstore—she’s creating a movement that celebrates stories, sustainability, and togetherness.
“For me, it’s about the moments—the child who discovers their new favorite book, the parent who reconnects with their child through storytime, the joy of learning something new. Those moments make it all worth it.” With heart, determination, and a clear purpose, Maha is redefining what a children’s bookstore can be, proving that stories have the power to connect us all.
UP CLOSE & PERSONAL QUESTIONNAIRE
What do you most value about your friends?
Authenticity and support. I cherish the ones who are honest, who celebrate my wins, and who are there when things aren’t so great.
Which living person do you most admire?
I don’t have a single person I admire, but I find myself inspired by people who are passionate about their work and are dedicated to making an impact. I believe it’s the ordinary people doing extraordinary things that really stand out to me.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A life filled with love, purpose, and balance. It’s being surrounded by family and friends, creating meaningful moments, and watching my son grow up curious and happy. It’s also finding joy in the small, everyday moments—like reading a great book, enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, or taking a walk in nature.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Indulging in ultra-luxury holidays. It’s not just about the luxury itself—it’s the escape, the adventure, and the ability to immerse myself in extraordinary experiences that feel truly once-in-a-lifetime. These holidays give me the chance to recharge, reflect, and create memories that are simply unmatched. To me, it’s the ultimate way to celebrate life and the beauty of the world.
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding ring. It symbolises the love, commitment, and partnership I share with my husband. It’s not just a piece of jewellery but a constant reminder of the journey we’ve taken together, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the life we’re building as a family.
What is your greatest fear?
Losing a loved one. The thought of life without the people I hold closest, especially my family, is unbearable. They are my anchor, my joy, and my motivation, and the idea of their absence is something I can’t imagine navigating. It’s a reminder to cherish every moment with them and to hold onto the time we have together.
What is your most marked characteristic?
Adaptability. Life has taken me through unexpected changes, like moving from Dubai—a place I never imagined leaving—and embracing new beginnings. I’ve learned to thrive in different circumstances, adjusting to challenges with an open mind and a willingness to grow. It’s a quality that’s deeply shaped how I navigate the world.

Determination. I never give up, no matter how difficult things get. I’m proud of my ability to stay focused and push through obstacles to achieve my goals.
What is the human trait you most dislike about others?
Dishonesty. It undermines trust, which is the foundation of any relationship. When people aren’t truthful, it creates confusion and damages connections, making it hard to build anything meaningful. I value openness and integrity in others.
What is it that you most dislike?
I most dislike negativity, especially when it holds people back from trying new things or seeing opportunities. It’s discouraging to see someone stuck in a mindset that limits growth or happiness.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
“To be honest”
What are your favorite words to live by?
“Do your best and leave the rest to Allah.”
These words remind me to focus on what’s in my control and let go of what isn’t. They keep me grounded and balanced, especially during challenging times.
Where would you most like to live?
Where my family is happiest and most at peace. Home isn’t about a specific location; it’s about being surrounded by the people I love and creating a life that feels fulfilling and joyful together.
If you could have any job, what would it be?
The one I have now—being a mom. Nothing compares to the joy and fulfilment of raising my children, watching them grow, and being part of their journey every step of the way. It’s the most rewarding and meaningful job I could ever imagine.
What would you consider your greatest achievement?
If you had asked me this question five years ago, I would have talked about my professional achievements in fitness and tennis—things I was incredibly proud of at the time, as they reflected years of dedication and hard work.
Now, my perspective has shifted. My greatest achievement is the personal growth I’ve experienced over the years—learning to adapt, letting go of perfectionism, and embracing the beauty of balance. Whether it’s moving to a new country and starting fresh, finding joy in the small, everyday moments, or building a nurturing and loving home, these are the things that truly define success for me today.
What do you hope for the future?
To see more meaningful connections between people, despite the distractions of modern life and technology.

WORRIED YOUR EMPLOYEES WANT TO QUIT?
Here’s an easy way to increase engagement
By Alix McCabe
Employee satisfaction is plummeting, and businesses are struggling to keep their talent engaged and fulfilled. Research by Gallup shows that 51% of employees are actively looking for other work. While the top reason for this trend is predictable—employees are looking for higher pay and better benefits—there’s another reason worth exploring: lack of career development and opportunities. This trend highlights the need for organizations to implement strategies that will inspire their employees to stay, and one way to do this is through emphasizing cross-functional mobility.
Throughout my twelve years at Allianz Trade, I’ve been given flexibility to explore various positions, from marketing and communications to human resources, sales, and distribution. In my previous role with the company as chief human resources and communications officer for the Americas region, I led employee-focused programs to cultivate engagement, enhance recognition and rewards, and promote learning and development programs.
Now, in my new role as chief commercial officer for the region, I’m focusing on something completely different: the organization’s distribution strategy and growth initiatives. While my day-to-day is vastly different, I draw from my past experiences daily to help drive the organization forward.
My personal career trajectory underscores the relevance of encouraging emerging leaders to embrace cross-functional opportunities. This is how companies of all industries and sizes can cultivate well-rounded leadership profiles, retain and motivate in-house talent, and unlock growth and innovation.
Identify Interested Employees
Organizations should create a process to proactively identify employees interested in crossfunctional opportunities. We do this through annual succession planning and creating a personal development plan with our employees. Early in my tenure at Allianz Trade, I communicated my interest in geographic mobility (performing the same or similar role in a different country) and functional mobility (moving to a distinct discipline within the organization).
By capturing these ambitions during my annual review process, the company understood my goals and supported me along the way. Understanding whether an employee is interested in exploring different functions within the organization empowers them to step outside of their comfort zone knowing they have the company’s support, as it did for me.
While reading about a role provides insight, there is no substitute for firsthand experience gained by stepping into the shoes of colleagues in other departments. Shadow programs are an excellent way to encourage employees to try their hand at something they may otherwise overlook.
I’ve participated in several shadow programs during my career, including valuable time spent in our U.K. and Italian businesses shadowing their
marketing teams, as well as in Paris shadowing HR colleagues. These experiences were monumental in shaping my personal growth and professional perspective. When considering a new position in human resources after spending decades in marketing, investing meaningful time shadowing HR colleagues was a game-changer for me.
Offer Mentorship for Growth and Development Research indicates that 90% of employees with mentors report greater job satisfaction. Mentorship is crucial to helping employees feel supported, understood, and valued. Your company can support cross-functional mobility by facilitating mentoring programs where colleagues can learn from experienced leaders with similar career journeys. Over the years, several mentors have played an instrumental role in my development, serving as sounding boards, coaches, challengers, and supporters.
The benefits of mentorship flow both ways. I’ve also grown as a leader as a result of being a mentor myself. I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring
individuals through formal programs, and informal sessions over the years. The experience always challenges me to hone in on my own values, and to have the courage to share about times when I’ve taken professional risks and failed.
With confidence in their current position and exposure to other job functions they might explore, employees feel supported to learn new skills, enabling them to discover the areas of work that motivate and drive them. This not only fosters personal growth but also strengthens the organization by aligning employee passion with business goals.
By building from within and developing leaders with a wide range of skills, organizations are better equipped to meet the challenges of their work and more likely to retain talent by offering diverse and multi-faceted career paths.

‘I WANT TO FIND SECRETS’
MrBeast is renting out the Egyptian pyramids. Because… content
By Jessica Bursztynsky
One of the oldest architectural sites in the world is getting the MrBeast treatment.
A recently released video clip features the famous YouTuber saying that he rented the Great Pyramids of Giza for an upcoming video.
“We got all three of the pyramids of Egypt for a hundred hours,” Jimmy Donaldson (aka MrBeast) says in an upcoming episode of the Beyond The Records podcast, hosted by Olympians Noah Lyles, Rai Benjamin, and Grant Holloway. “I’m going to do a video where they’re going to let me explore anywhere I want in the pyramids for 100 hours. We’re going to sleep at the pyramids, all to ourselves.”
MrBeast is known for producing highly dramatic, heavily funded videos that routinely rake in hundreds of millions of views. A random smattering of recent videos on his channel include “I saved 100 Dogs from Dying,” “Face Your Biggest Fear to Win $800,000,” and “100 Identical Twins Fight For $250,000.”
He’s managed to relay his over 337 million YouTube subscribers into a new Amazon Prime Video show called “Beast Games” and other businesses. There’s even a Harvard Business School case study on his empire. But he’s also faced heavy criticism along the way. He’s been accused by a handful of contestants on “Beast Games” for “shamelessly” exploiting them while competing. An employee also left his company in July following accusations that she shared inappropriate sexual messages with minors.
MrBeast says on the podcast that he worked with the Egyptian government to get access to the historic site.
“I’ve never been inside of it,” he says. “I want to just find secrets and go through all the rooms
and the tombs and that kind of stuff.” He adds that he and his crew will have a guide showing them around.
MrBeast, who has distilled online virality to a science, knows what people will be looking for. “I want them to be like, this is the room no one’s seen publicly or whatever,” he adds. “I’m so excited, because there’s all these secret quarters deep below too, and I don’t know what to expect.”

GROUP CHAT THERAPY
What to do when a friend is oversharing in the group chat
By Delia Cai
There are certain social media rules we can all agree on: Ghosting a conversation is impolite, and replying “k” to a text is the equivalent of a backhand slap (violent, wrong, and rude). But what about the rest of the rules? When can we really remind someone of our old Venmo request? What happens when someone tries to flirt with you on LinkedIn?
Question: My college friends and I have had a group chat for years—most of us live far away from each other, so it’s what keeps us close. But lately, one of the friends (who I’m not as tight with, to be honest) has been dumping these multiple paragraphslong rants about her life in the chat, and it’s honestly killing the vibe because the rest of us don’t know what to say. I’m annoyed that she’s basically using our chat as her personal emotional support hotline. Does that make me a bad friend? Is there a way to ask her to stop oversharing there?
Answer: I feel your pain. You’re not a bad friend! You’re frustrated with her but also with the limitations of digital communication, as much of a lifeline as it is for long-distance friendships. Group chats are particularly delicate little ecosystems because they lack context clues and nonverbal cues that usually help everyone gauge the social subtext—i.e., if you were all out together at happy hour celebrating someone’s birthday, it’s less likely that your friend would suddenly start ranting out of nowhere, for example.
In general, a group chat exists in a weird, suspended zone of manners, where no one can really read anyone’s moods, and the convenience of having 24/7 access to our loved ones brings with it quite a few inconveniences as well. What I’m saying is that it’s very normal to be annoyed when someone doesn’t seem to understand the “rules” of the group chat because they are so rarely, if ever, articulated; each chat has its own set of customs and expectations that can only become defined with time. It’s more of an anarchy in there than a democracy!
It sounds like your friend is terribly lonely. A group chat can be a reliable place to find emotional support, but it shouldn’t be anyone’s only source of solace, especially because the medium kind of dilutes the sense of responsibility amongst members of the group (i.e., everyone assumes someone else will respond first, which can lead to a very awkward silence). Ideally, whichever group chat member is closest to her could reach and plan either a phone call or a one-on-one hang to better offer her the support she clearly needs. But you also don’t have to personally
be on bestie terms to simply text her separately and express concern. Something like, “Hey, I’ve noticed you’ve been having a tough time lately. Do you want to talk about it?” Everyone goes through a rough patch now and then, and they usually just want to feel seen and heard. You don’t have to sign yourself up to be her de facto therapist, but it is part of any friendship contract to at least check in once when someone’s clearly unhappy.
Whatever you do, do not start a separate chat to discuss this friend with everyone else. That’s the equivalent of talking behind her back, and if you are all really friends—even if you’re not personally close to her—that would be quite a betrayal. The exception to this rule is if you genuinely have cause for concern over her behavior; if she’s threatening to hurt herself, for example, you absolutely want all hands-on deck to figure out how to best help your friend.

GETTING THERE
These 3 clever mapping upstarts do what Google Maps can’t
By JR Raphael
Look, Google Maps is fine. It’s arguably even great—probably one of the most-opened apps on lots of our phones and absolutely one of the most indispensable.
But for as good as Google Maps can be when it comes to helping us navigate the physical world, there are places where it and its bigname contemporaries all fall short—and where smaller third-party services are picking up the slack and cooking up creative new mappingrelated capabilities. These additions go above and beyond what Google gives us, and while they won’t outright replace Google Maps in your go-to app collection, they’ll supplement it in some really interesting ways.
Here are three next-level, location-related enhancements well worth your while to explore.
1. The cream-of-the-crop detector
Google Maps holds oceans of opinions about restaurants, businesses, and all sorts of other attractions around the world. But actually inspecting that info and figuring out which places are the best to visit isn’t exactly easy.
That’s where a resource called Top Rated comes into play. Top Rated takes the firehose of location reviewing data from Google Maps and remixes it into a simple-as-can-be website where you can search for any city—or just look around your current location, if you’d rather—and see the most favorably reviewed places for that specific spot.
You can specify any maximum distance you want and then browse either the best-ranked places across the board or favorite finds within narrowed categories like food and drink, entertainment, and shopping. You can even explore hidden gems and recently discovered standouts, if you really want to get off the beaten path.
Top Rated is completely free, and it doesn’t require sign-ins or any manner of personal data to be shared.
2. The Wikipedia-Maps mashup
From the best places in the world to the most noteworthy places around you, our second GoogleMaps-supplementing treasure is a site that puts you in the center of a map with Wikipedia data all around you.
NearbyWiki does one thing and does it well: It ingests mountains of place-oriented info from Wikipedia and puts it into a traditional map form, so you can explore it.
All you do is enter a specific spot into the site’s search function—or let it detect your current location automatically—and poof: You’ll see an interactive map of the area with special pins showing every place around you that’s associated with a Wikipedia entry.
You can click or tap on any of those pins to see a pop-up with more info. You can then read the entire associated Wikipedia listing right then and there, atop the map, if you want—which makes for an easy way to discover fascinating facts about the places around you and also find new noteworthy nearby locations to explore. On that note, NearbyWiki allows you to open any location directly in Google Maps for instant navigation, too, if you end up seeing somewhere you want to go.
It’s a whole new way to wander around Wikipedia in the real world—and, just like our first Mapsexpanding find, it’s 100% free, without any sign-ins or data-sharing required.
3. Your friendly tour guide
Last but not least in our list is a clever new service that could really be useful in the right sort of situation.
It’s called VoiceMap, and it’s an immersive, on-demand audio tour guide for hundreds of places around the world—with insights recorded by actual human experts and made available for your enjoyment.
So, for instance, you could get a guide to Hollywood Boulevard’s “haunting history and hidden gems” and listen to a 60-minute tour that takes you on a specific walking journey and points out fascinating facts along the way. You could take a two-mile walking tour of London’s West End with Sir Ian McKellen. Or you could stroll through the scenes of Romeo and Juliet with a detailed guide to the sights and sounds of Verona.
Some of VoiceMaps tours are free. Others cost anywhere from a couple of bucks to $10 and up. (You do need to create an account to participate.)
With any tour you take, though, you can listen as many times as you like online or off via the VoiceMap website as well as the Android and iOS apps. Keep the metaphorical coordinates to this and the other gems we just went over handy, and you’ll have an exceptionally elevated mapping experience—going far beyond what Google Maps alone could give you.

CUTTING A DEAL
The secret tactic that will help in any negotiation
By Lydia Fenet
Over the past two decades, I’ve raised over a billion dollars for non-profits as an auctioneer on stages worldwide. Each night, I engage with audiences of hundreds, if not thousands in a negotiation of bids and counterbids to sell designated lots.
As a charity auctioneer, I’m not selling Picassos or Monets. Rather, I’m on stage late at night at charity galas, trying to convince two bidders to battle it out for something they may not necessarily need—like a vacation house in Mexico— despite the chance they already have vacation homes elsewhere. How I treat both of my bidders in a heated negotiation in a very public forum will dictate how much they bid and ultimately how much they give on future items.
Over the years, I have perfected a few strategies to employ when the bidding gets heated, but I still want everyone to feel like a winner. One of my favorite, most successful negotiation techniques is simple: always befriend your underbidder.
In auctioneering as in negotiation, it’s easy to assume that the only person you need to focus on is the one who will give you what you want. But, a smart negotiator knows it’s equally crucial to make every person in the room feel important even if they don’t come out on top. In auctioneering, if there is no underbidder there is no bidding war,
and a winning bidder will walk away spending a lot less. As the auctioneer, I stay laser-focused on befriending the underbidder throughout the auction so they feel celebrated, validated, and ready to come back for more.
The same can be said about any negotiation. There will be times when you walk into a room and everything falls into place effortlessly. But there will also be times when you walk into a room and immediately know that you aren’t selling what the person needs, or the negotiation will not work out.
That is when befriending your underbidder comes into play. Instead of trying to fit a round peg into a square hole, shift your strategy. Focus on creating a rapport with the person so they walk out feeling good about the outcome regardless of whether or not it went their way. Remember, life is long. People change jobs, and budgets come and go, but if people walk out of a negotiation feeling like they made a connection, they will still be your first call.
I worked as the head of partnerships for a
company for over two decades. Many negotiations ended because the person across the table didn’t have the budget to make the partnership work. But I quickly learned that if I used the same tactic I did onstage and befriended the underbidder, I would often get a call when the person left their job or secured the budget necessary to make the deal happen. In many cases, the person remembered our initial negotiation and returned when they had something that fit. A “no” today does not mean a “no” in six months.
Finally, never underestimate the importance of a sense of humor when a deal doesn’t work out. I have ended many negotiations with a smile and promise to check back in three months to see if things have changed or if the CEO has approved the budget you need to make it work.
I’ll end the meeting by saying “ . . . and then I’ll check back in six months to see if you are the CEO.”

FROM SEOUL TO SEOULIAN
Self-taught chef, restaurant founder, and cultural bridge, Eunae Hwang shares her story, culinary inspirations, and the joys of running a Korean restaurant in Kuwait.
By bazaar Staff
Eunae Hwang introduces herself with humility and charm. “I usually say I’m the founder and the other half of Seoulian, a Korean restaurant in Kuwait. I’m a self-taught chef who became a chef and owner quite by accident,” she shares. The journey that led her here is deeply rooted in family ties. “My family has a long history with Kuwait. My grandmother lived and ran a restaurant here, and my dad also had a business in Kuwait. It became home to us.” Eunae’s love for cooking comes from within. “I’ve always been a foodie—a chubby foodie growing up in an Asian household,” she laughs. “My family’s love for food influenced me, but really, it’s just who I am.”
Her culinary journey began from a humble home kitchen with no grand vision. “I’m not much of a planner,” she admits. “I just wanted to spread the awesomeness of Korean food and its bold flavors. I’m a ‘let’s just do it’ kind of person, and it works well in this field.”
At Seoulian, she strikes a balance between traditional and modernized Korean dishes. “We cater to the general public in Kuwait while honoring authentic Korean flavors,” Eunae says. Eunae has noticed similarities between Korean and Kuwaiti food cultures, particularly the love for rice and the generosity in sharing meals. “It’s heartwarming to see how food brings people together, no matter where you are.” While she hasn’t yet introduced Kuwaiti ingredients to her main menu, it’s on her bucket list. “I’ve cooked meals using local ingredients for my staff, but I dream of collaborating with a local chef to create a dish that blends both our cuisines.” When asked about memorable moments, Eunae lights up. “One surprising moment was when we created kimchi pizza for a collaboration at Barba. I wasn’t sure people would order it, but it sold out, and we had to triple the portion the next day. Seeing people in Kuwait embrace kimchi has been amazing!”
Eunae’s signature dish at Seoulian is a creamy rosé rice cake dish inspired by the traditional spicy Korean tteokbokki. “I noticed people here love cheese, so I made it creamy, added Korean spices, and it became one of our staples,” she explains. When asked which Korean dish everyone should try, she answers without hesitation: “Kimchi stew. It’s heartwarming and the best comfort food.”
Eunae has valuable advice for aspiring chefs, especially women: “Do what makes you happy. Don’t be afraid of failure; it’s better than not trying. Life is full of surprises, so keep a positive outlook.” As for her future? “I’m not a planner. I focus on today’s to-do list. But if I could make a wish, it’d be to expand—more kitchen space, more room for customers, and a lounge for my staff. Manifesting!”
Eunae’s story is a testament to following your passion, embracing your roots, and finding joy in sharing what you love. Her restaurant, Seoulian, stands as a flavorful bridge between Korea and Kuwait, bringing people together one dish at a time.

THE NEW RETIREE
Retirement desperately needs a rebrand. Especially now that most retirees are doing it differently
By Sallie Krawcheck
At Ellevest, we spend a lot of time talking with women about money: where they stand with money, how they plan, and what money enables them to do.
As a natural result, we spend a lot of time talking about retirement with women: both how they picture their retirement and what they actually do when they’re retired.
And let’s just say that retirement—those supposedly somnolent last few chapters of life, in Florida, enlivened by golf, early-bird-special dinners, and cherubic grandkids—needs a rebrand. Because the essence of retirement is moving from that to something more dynamic, and more energetic. Especially for women.
To look at the future of retirement, let’s look at it instead through women’s eyes, as they become the majority of retirees. After all, women live six to eight years longer than men overall, and half of retired women expect to live in retirement for a full 21 years.
It’s an important shift in perspective because retirement for women is just different. Taking lifespan alone into account means women likely need to save more money for retirement than men. Yet, last time we checked, an Ellevest Financial Wellness survey revealed that men said saving for retirement was their #1 financial goal; for women, retirement was number four. Number one was taking care of their family.
On top of this, women earn less and own less. And **looks around** not many financial experts account for these critical differences (besides our team—all women living it, and doing something about it).
Also, from what we see, women are simply doing retirement differently. It’s less about going hard at our careers for decades and then stopping, reminiscing, softening. It’s more … more. More work in some capacity, either part-time or consulting. More board work, more volunteering, more going back to school. More starting businesses and prioritizing passions. More travel. (Lots more travel.)
More being really intentional about how they want to spend this chapter of their lives. For women, retirement means re-evaluating and refreshing. Even recommitting.
In other words, women are retiring a passive retirement. Why is this?
There are probably as many different reasons why women are reshaping retirement as there are women themselves. Though a lot of it is about money: Women have less money for retirement than men, and women are more likely to fear poverty in retirement than men. And they’re not wrong, since women are more likely to be poor during retirement. Maybe it’s also because there are more “gray divorces” (divorces after age 50, which are reported to be most often initiated by women), thus changing their personal financial circumstances. So, there are very real drivers of this difference.
But that’s by no means the only motivation behind this rethinking. Women might be reshaping retirement because their careers have a different rhythm than men’s, which can be related to caregiving responsibilities. I have friends who, by the time they became empty-nesters, were ready to
fully recommit to their careers — after having felt like they were “fighting with two arms tied behind their backs” while managing child care. Instead of wanting to shut down their computers, many women report having a second career wind. The feeling’s more “Let’s go.”
What does this all mean? Well, the implications can be far-reaching.
Women rebranding their retirement era can improve the economy — the more people participating in the economy, the stronger it tends to be.
Women rebranding their retirement era can boost individual businesses. At least, the ones that take older women seriously and recognize the shift of women eager to earn — and spend, and invest — their money into their later years. (Not the businesses that are ageist, patronizing, and clearly don’t value women period.)
Women rebranding their retirement era can better their mental and financial health. Not only could a more active, purposeful retirement help stave off feelings of depression often reported in aging and retired adults, but it could make money feel less like it’s a source of stress. Of course, the more cash you bring in, the more secure you feel, and the more you can confidently fine-tune your retirement goals in real-time. Or to account for what’s next after your gray divorce. Or the recent passing of your partner.

SPARKLY
Tooth or consequences
By Jerry Zezima
My orthodontist is a gem. That’s why he suggested I buy an ultrasonic retainer cleaner that my wife can wash her jewelry in.
I got retainers several years ago when I decided to go straight, not because I was a crooked jewel thief, but because two of my teeth were crooked and needed straightening.
I went to the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine on Long Island, New York, so my right upper lateral incisor and my left central lower incisor could be rotated back to their original positions with invisible braces, which weren’t actually invisible because otherwise, let’s face it, how could I find them?
Once my wayward ivories were realigned, which saved me the trouble of going to a mechanic, I got retainers. I wear them at night to keep my teeth on the straight and narrow, even though the mouth where they reside is deep and wide.
On a recent visit to Stony Brook for my yearly follow-up, I met Dr. Andy Lin, the latest in a long line of orthodontic residents who have had the dubious honor of treating me.
“Please pop your retainers in so I can see how they fit,” Dr. Lin said.
I did as instructed, first the top, then the bottom.
“They’ve kept your teeth nice and straight,” he noted. “But part of the top retainer on the left side has broken off. I can clip the end and smooth it out with an acrylic bur so it won’t cut your tongue.”
“While I’m still wearing it?” I asked nervously.
“No,” the good doctor assured me. “You wouldn’t want a bur in your mouth.”
“You could probably fit a jackhammer in there,” I said.
“We use that for drilling,” said Dr. Lin, who took my upper retainer to a back room, clipped and smoothed it, and returned a few minutes later. “Try it now,” he said.
I popped it in.
“It feels much better,” I told him. “Now I won’t speak with a forked tongue.”
Dr. Lin spoke with a funny tongue when he told me that he was the class clown in dental school.
“I did a lot of stupid things,” he said. “In an oral surgery class, when we were shown how to do stitches, we had to bring in bananas. I brought in a watermelon.”
“Did you have braces as a kid?” I asked.
“Yes, four times,” said the doctor, flashing a nice smile. “But I never had retainers. I’m too lazy.”
“I’ve been told the best way to keep them clean is with dishwashing liquid,” I said. “It might be easier just to put them in the dishwasher.”
“They’d come out in clumps,” said Dr. Lin, adding that I could use water and hydrogen
peroxide or get a box of retainer tablets.
The best way to clean retainers, he said, is with an ultrasonic cleaner, a small, plastic and stainless steel machine that uses UV sterilization.
“I use one to clean my jewelry,” Dr. Lin said. “I even put my glasses in there.”
“Can I clean my wife’s jewelry?” I asked.
“Sure,” said the doctor. “But maybe you should start with your retainers.”
I went online and ordered the device, which cost $49.99. When it arrived, I plugged it in, filled it with water, put in my retainers, closed the lid and pressed the button.
Five minutes later, my retainers were spotless.
“They’re nice and clean,” said my wife, Sue.
“Do you want me to clean your jewelry?” I asked.
“No,” she said.
Undeterred, I took off my silver wedding band, the only piece of jewelry I own, and put it in the ultrasonic machine. When the ring came out, it looked like new, even though it’s 46 years old.
“It shines!” Sue exclaimed.
“Now do you want me to clean your jewelry?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” she said. “It has stones. If they get ruined, you’ll have to buy me new ones.”
“I’ll stick with cleaning my retainers,” I said. “I can’t afford to put my money where my mouth is.”

GETTING THERE
The Kid Whisperer: How to get kids to become responsible for bringing their things to school
By Scott Ervin
Dear Kid Whisperer,
My 13-year-old daughter, like many of her friends, carries a water bottle around with her all day at school. Since the beginning of the last school year, she’s been forgetting it, and this year, she’s been forgetting it much more -- usually twice per week. I bring it to her because I don’t want her to become dehydrated. Even though I tell her that it’s not my job to bring her the water bottle, she acts like it is. How do I deal with this?
Answer: I would first say that you are acting like it is your job to bring her water bottle to school, and your daughter is just reacting to how you are acting. When you say one thing but do another, kids tend to ignore what you say and pay attention to what you do.
I’m going to show you how to minimize what you say but align those few words to what you do.
Training your kid to be more responsible here will be simple tactically. If you do what I’m about to show you, I guarantee you that you will be able to get your kid to remember her water bottle (after a relatively brief period of failure). But it will require a paradigm shift that, frankly, I’m not sure you’ll be willing to make.
I mention this because after almost a quarter century of working with parents (and also after some years of being a parent), I’ve found that someone who delivers a forgotten water bottle to school every time their kid leaves it at home usually has such a profound misunderstanding about how learning responsibility works that they are usually unwilling to make the necessary changes to help their kid(s) to become more responsible.
So, here we go, and here’s hoping.
If you act like it’s your responsibility to make sure your kid has something, your kid will think it’s your responsibility to make sure they have that thing.
So stop doing that.
Your kid will not die of thirst at school. You never did. I never did. No one ever did.
You’re just going to allow your kid to use the drinking fountain during passing periods, just like you did, just like I did, just like everyone did.
In the unlikely event that your kid’s school has bottle fillers and no fountains, encourage your kid to keep little paper cups in her backpack.
Here’s how you set your kid up to learn to be responsible:
Kid Whisperer: Hey there. I need to apologize to you. I think I’ve given you the false impression that it’s my job to remember to bring your stuff to school. This has caused me to nag you and get on your case. That had to be annoying, and I won’t do that anymore.
Kid: Good!
Kid Whisperer: Yes, good indeed. From now on, if you forget something at home, like homework, water bottles or anything else, I’ll just be sad about
it instead of doing anything about it.
Kid: But what if I become thirsty?
Kid Whisperer: I don’t know. I know you’ll figure this out. I love you too much to allow you to think that it’s someone else’s job to solve your problems. From now on, you are in charge of you, and this will be a far more exciting way for you to live your life. When Kid forgets her water bottle (and she will)
just be sad and perhaps ask what she is going to do to help herself remember next time.
You can deliver a water bottle, or you can deliver a lesson that will make your kid healthier, happier and better, but you can’t deliver both.
The choice is yours.

WHAT’S YOUR HEALTH FORECAST?
Expert explains science behind personal guides to well-being
By Mayo Clinic News Network
You may be familiar with a range of tips for living a healthy life: Watch your weight, exercise, eat nutritious food and don’t smoke, for example.
What if you could combine these lifestyle factors with a host of other variables to learn your risk of developing specific diseases, to help catch and treat them early or prevent them altogether? Victor Ortega, M.D., Ph.D., associate director for the Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine in Arizona, explains how science is drawing ever closer to making such personal health forecasts possible.
Previously inconceivable, such personal guides to well-being are becoming increasingly possible because of new and sophisticated genome-wide technologies that capture data spanning entire genomes, Dr. Ortega says. The complex scores are compiled from a combination of data from thousands to hundreds of thousands of a person’s DNA sequence variants. This type of large genomewide data has the potential to predict disease risks, such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma and specific cancers.
“Imagine knowing your genetic predisposition for having a heart attack in your 50s, or if you’re in the top 5% of the population for the risk of cancer or diabetes based on data from your whole genome. With this knowledge, you could make informed lifestyle choices and receive enhanced screenings to mitigate that risk,” Dr. Ortega says.
As a pulmonologist and genomic scientist, Dr. Ortega is leading a charge to breathe new life into precision medicine advancements. His mission is rooted in a deep commitment to health equities and inspired by his grandmother.
“My grandmother died of asthma, and that should not have happened. She was Puerto Rican like me, and Puerto Ricans have the highest severity and frequency of asthma of any ethnic group in the world,” Dr. Ortega says. “They also represent less than 1% of people in genetic studies. So, I’ve made it a life mission to develop cures and diagnostics for people like my grandma, and for all people.”
Each person has millions of genetic variants, each having a small effect. But together, these variants can increase the risk of getting a condition. A polygenic risk score estimates the overall risk someone has of getting a disease by adding up the small effects of variants throughout an individual’s entire genome.
Polygenic risk scores are not used to diagnose diseases. Some people who don’t have a high-risk score for a certain disease still can be at risk of getting the disease or might already have it. Other people with high-risk scores may never get the disease.
People with the same genetic risk can have different outcomes depending on other
factors such as lifestyle which determine one’s lifelong environmental exposures, also called the exposome.
Dr. Ortega says that getting to the point where all people know their polygenic risk scores will require a solid foundation of “omics” research and datasets, cutting-edge technologies and further discoveries of gene-disease links — all of which are within his team’s expertise and capabilities.
Omics is an emerging multidisciplinary field of biological sciences that encompasses genomics, proteomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and more.
“It’s going to take considerable work and planning, but it really is the way of the future,” he says.
In the shorter term, Dr. Ortega plans to transition more omics discoveries from research laboratories to the clinic. Omics data can help identify the molecular culprits driving a person’s disease, as well as biomarkers that can lead to the development of targeted treatments and diagnostics.
Recent omics discoveries at Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine have enabled scientists to predict antidepressant response in people with depression and discover a potential therapeutic strategy for bone marrow cancer. Scientists have also used omics to pinpoint genetic variations that potentially increase the risk for severe COVID-19,
uncover potential clues for preventing and treating gliomas and unravel the genetic mystery of a rare neurodevelopmental disorder.
Drawing from his years of extensive clinical experience in treating patients with severe respiratory illnesses, Dr. Ortega is also working to expand genomic testing to a broader set of diseases. He highlights the center’s collaborative Program for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases as an effective model that he hopes to amplify.
The Program for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases proactively engages healthcare teams across Mayo›s clinical practice to conduct targeted genomic testing for patients with a suspected rare genetic disease. He says expanding this strategy to more diseases will help build collaborations across Mayo and educate more clinicians on genomics. It may also ensure the most effective genomic sequencing tests are given to patients, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes.
Dr. Ortega is leading the development of a polygenic risk score framework for Mayo Clinic, beginning with interstitial lung disease. This condition, marked by progressive scarring of lung tissue, is influenced by both rare gene variants and a collection of more common variants, all of which are captured together in polygenic risk scores.

THE RISE IN CHILDREN’S MELATONIN USE
What experts want you to know
By Avery Newmark
Packed holiday schedules, no school, disrupted bedtime routines — a parent’s worst nightmare. And if you are one of the many turning to melatonin to help their little ones get to sleep, you may want to think again. New research suggests this increasingly popular solution deserves a closer look.
Nearly 1 in 5 school-age children now regularly use melatonin supplements, according to a study published last year in JAMA Pediatrics. And what’s even more concerning, according to researchers, is that about 6% of preschoolers ages 1 to 4 are taking the sleep aid.
While melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that helps regulate sleep cycles, supplements aren’t regulated like prescription medications, and research on long-term use in children is limited.
“It is terrifying to me that this amount of an unregulated product is being utilized,” Dr. Cora Collette Breuner, professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington, told NPR.
The surge in usage also coincides with an
increase in melatonin poisoning cases. Melatonin ingestion cases reported to poison control centers, largely occurring among children younger than 5, skyrocketed by more than 500% between 2012 and 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During this period, poison control centers documented 260,435 cases of pediatric melatonin ingestion, with the sharpest uptick occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To cut back on melatonin usage, experts recommend these evidence-based sleep strategies:
•Maintain consistent bedtimes, even during holiday festivities
•Turn off screens at least one hour before bed
•Use blackout shades and white noise machines if needed
•Avoid letting children stay up more than one to two hours past normal bedtime on weekends
•Create a calming bedtime routine with activities like reading or quiet music
If sleep problems persist, parents should consult their pediatrician before trying melatonin, Health reports.
When prescribed, experts recommend looking for supplements with a USP label, indicating thirdparty testing for content accuracy and contaminants. The American Academy of Pediatrics, according to NPR, emphasizes melatonin should only be used as a short-term solution under medical supervision.

EX-ETIQUETTE
Badmouthing your ex
By Jann Blackstone
Q. My ex is not a good person. She sends me terrible text messages that the kids have read over my shoulder. They tell me she refers to me as “sperm donor” when she talks to her friends. (They aren’t sure what that means, but they know it’s bad.) Now the kids are telling me they don’t want to go back to her home. We alternate weeks, and this is a real problem. What’s good ex-etiquette?
A.When a co-parent badmouths their co-parent in front of the kids on a regular basis, one of two things can happen. One, the kids begin to identify with the badmouthing parent and follow suit; or the more common response, they reject the one badmouthing.
Children don’t want to hear all the negativity, especially about someone with whom they share DNA. Add their split allegiances because they most likely love the badmouthing parent too, and the only thing they can think to do is opt to stay right where they are. That’s when you hear, “I don’t want to go back.” If they are with the badmouthing parent at the time of the badmouthing, they are planning their escape.
So, what constitutes badmouthing? Referring to their father as “sperm donor” borders on emotional abuse, but there are less negative references that could upset your kids—sometimes because they aren’t sure of what is meant by the reference.
Here’s an example from my own life. My grandson is 8 years old. He overheard his mother and I joking over the phone as we drove to the supermarket, and he commented on how funny his mother was. I agreed and then i said, “But Daddy is quite shy. If you watch him at a party, he says very little.” Would you think that was badmouthing? I certainly didn’t, but my grandson started to tear up and said, “My daddy talks to me.”
I had hurt his feelings. He wasn’t quite sure what “shy” meant in that context and was very upset. I had to ask him, “Honey, do you think ‘shy’ is bad? Did you think I was saying something bad about your daddy?” He shook his head in agreement and there I was trying to sooth my grandson while looking into the rear-view mirror. Afterwards I felt compelled to call his mother (my daughter) and explain what had happened. I knew he would go home and say I said something, and my daughter needed to know the whole story so she could reinforce that I wasn’t saying anything bad about his father.
Co-parents, and evidently, grandparents, must be very careful about the references they use. Children personalize everything.
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, always clarify the action by talking to your co-parent as soon as possible. Just like when you hear a child repeat something questionable that happened at the other home, make a phone call. Don’t accuse; ask for clarification so you can reinforce the positive or clarify what was said. That’s good ex-etiquette.

THE H&M STORY From Swedish Roots to Global Fashion Icon
By bazaar Staff
In an industry often dominated by American fashion brands, H&M stands as a proud testament to Swedish innovation and entrepreneurship. Founded in 1947 by Erling Persson in Västerås, Sweden, Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) has grown from a single women’s clothing store to one of the world’s leading fashion retailers.
H&M’s story starts in 1947, not on a New York runway, but in the quaint Swedish town of Västerås. Founded by Erling Persson, it began as a single women’s clothing store named “Hennes”.
Erling Persson was inspired by a trip to the United States, where he witnessed the efficiency of high-volume fashion retail. However, rather than emulating American fashion, he infused his business with distinctly Swedish values: democratic design philosophy, sustainability consciousness, and the belief that stylish fashion should be accessible to everyone.
Persson’s vision was simple: to offer highquality fashion at affordable prices. The name “Hennes” (Swedish for “hers”) reflected the company’s initial focus on women’s clothing. In 1968, Persson acquired hunting apparel retailer
Mauritz Widforss, leading to the inclusion of men’s clothing and the birth of Hennes & Mauritz - now globally known as H&M.
From its Swedish foundations, H&M has methodically expanded across continents, bringing its unique blend of fashion-forward design and accessibility to new markets. The company’s approach to fashion - combining Scandinavian minimalism with contemporary trends - has resonated with consumers worldwide, challenging the notion that affordable fashion must compromise on style or quality.
In the Middle East, H&M’s success story is intrinsically linked to its partnership with the Alshaya Group, one of the region’s most respected retail franchisees. This collaboration has brought H&M’s Swedish fashion sensibility to nine markets
across the region, operating 99 stores that serve diverse communities from Kuwait to the UAE.
The partnership exemplifies H&M’s ability to maintain its core Swedish identity while adapting to local market needs and preferences. Through Alshaya’s deep understanding of regional retail dynamics and consumer behavior, H&M has successfully positioned itself as a premier fashion destination in the Middle East.
Today, H&M continues to evolve while staying true to its Swedish roots. The has been focusing on sustainability recently by leading initiatives in eco-friendly materials and circular fashion. Their emphasis on digital innovation and enhancing the omnichannel shopping experience is another way of transforming the industry. And while they are always going to be protective and proud of
their Swedish origins, their global reach has allowed them to reach a new level of cultural consciousness and the ability to adapt to a diverse market. Finally, they’ve been leaning even more into design collaborations which allow them to partner with luxury designers and brands while maintaining accessibility
H&M’s Swedish heritage remains one of its strongest assets. Swedish design principles - functionality, minimalism, and sustainabilitycontinue to influence the brand’s approach to fashion. This distinctive Scandinavian perspective sets H&M apart in a market where American and European fast-fashion brands compete for consumer attention.
As H&M continues to grow and evolve, it maintains its position as a global fashion
leader while proudly embracing its Swedish origins. Through strategic partnerships like that with Alshaya Group in the Middle East, H&M demonstrates how a brand can successfully balance international presence with local market understanding.
For fashion-conscious consumers worldwide, H&M represents more than just another retail chain - it embodies the democratic fashion philosophy born in Sweden and now embraced globally. As the fashion industry continues to evolve, H&M’s Swedish heritage and values provide a strong foundation for continued innovation and growth in the years ahead.

H&M Beauty’s transformation continues to captivate audiences with its latest campaign under the banner of Make Up Stories. This campaign, the final installment of a trilogy, positions makeup as the spark for every meaningful and memorable moment.
Guiding the campaign’s creative direction is Global Makeup Artist Raoúl Alejandre, whose innovative vision draws inspiration from
the diverse beauty aesthetics of the 1980s. Alejandre’s passion for color, form, and texture has been instrumental in reshaping H&M Beauty’s identity. Speaking about his approach, he shared: “The high-quality pigmentation and rich formulas of this range, combined with its accessibility, make it a game-changer. I especially enjoy experimenting with three shades to create unique lip colors.”
The new collection features revamped formulations and packaging, embodying the
brand’s signature bold red and pink hues. Highlights include the Satin Icon lipstick, available in 36 shades for a soft satin finish, and the Matte Lippie, offering a luminous matte finish in 18 shades. Both formulations are vegan, enriched with Hyaluronic Acid for hydration. Complementing these are Mad for Matte liquid lipsticks and Mark My Lips lip liners, further elevating the versatility of H&M Beauty’s offerings.
Fragrance as an Expression: Alisha Boe Leads the Way
H&M Beauty’s innovative approach extends to its fragrance line, encapsulated in a campaign fronted by actress Alisha Boe. This fall, the brand launched a collection of eight vegan fragrances, crafted to mirror the diverse personalities that people embody. From the floral and romantic Hopeful Romantic to the fresh and minimalist Modern Minimalist, these scents are designed to align with the wearer’s mood and style.
Alisha Boe, known for her emotive performances, captures the essence of these fragrances in the campaign. She portrays eight distinct personas, each reflecting a unique facet of the collection. As she expressed: “I loved working on this campaign, bringing the idea of different scent personalities to life. Your mood changes every day, and these fragrances let you emphasize how you feel.”
The fragrance line pays homage to H&M’s legacy with the signature scent Est. 1947, named
after the year the brand was founded. Developed in Paris using upcycled ingredients and inspired by the perfumery heritage of Grasse, the collection seamlessly marries creativity and sustainability. Each scent offers a unique olfactory journey, from the woody notes of Adventure Seeker to the gourmand sweetness of Social Butterfly.
A World Where Beauty and Fashion Intersect
H&M Beauty’s ethos transcends the conventional boundaries of makeup and skincare. The brand envisions beauty as an integral part of a curated fashion experience, where self-expression takes center stage. As the campaign asserts, “Beauty and fashion don’t just co-exist but play together to inspire and elevate each other.”
This philosophy is evident in every aspect of the brand’s offerings. Whether through the vibrancy of its makeup line or the evocative storytelling of its fragrance collection, H&M Beauty empowers individuals to define their identity and enhance their style.
A Regional and Global Phenomenon
The Dubai event underscored H&M Beauty’s commitment to expanding its influence in the Middle East, with its products now available across Kuwait. From makeup masterclasses to fragrance campaigns, the brand continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
As H&M Beauty steps into a new era, it celebrates the art of transformation, blending innovation, sustainability, and accessibility. Whether through the creative brilliance of Raoúl Alejandre or the dynamic storytelling of Alisha Boe, H&M Beauty reaffirms its status as a destination for those who embrace bold self-expression.
