With Free & Easy Traveler’s 10-day tour of Thailand you can experience a plethora of the many different things a tour of Thailand has to offer.
The Food…
Of course Thailand is world-famous for its cuisine, so its an absolute must that you sample this whilst visiting Thailand. From the delicately spiced jungle curries, to the exquisite seafood on offer - you should even consider trying your hand at learning to cook authentic Thai cuisine. Thailand is also famous for its market culture, so why not make your way through the waterways of one of Bangkok’s famous floating markets whilst you’re in town?
Tailoring
Any item, any size… you must, must, must get something handmade whilst visiting Thailand. At extremely affordable prices, it’s a fantastic opportunity to feel quite glamorous by having your clothes tailor made - and they’ll fit like a glove. Ancient History
Thailand is packed to the brim with ancient history, from temples to statues there is so much to see, but we suggest heading to Wat
Pho where you’ll see over 1000 Buddha images making it the largest collection of Buddha relics in all of Thailand. More impressive though is the mammoth 49 metre long statue of a reclining Buddha, who’s feet are 3 metres high alone! Although there are many temples to behold in Thailand Wat Pho is well worth a visit to see this epic grandeur in the flesh!
Adventure Awaits
White sands, palm trees, and warm water? All present! So it’s time to head to the coastline. RIO DE JANEIRO
Discover hidden cultural treasures
Rio de Janeiro is one of the most seductive and charming places on earth, and with the Olympics just around the corner, the city has never been so lively. Visitors to this tropical urban paradise will find an extraordinary array of things to do, and there is something to suit the desires of every traveller.
Glistening sunbaked sands shadowing the shoreline, stunning panoramic vistas from atop Sugar Loaf Mountain, the iconic artdeco statue of Christ the Redeemer, exquisite belle époque palaces, and a dizzying sambafuelled nightlife – for most cities, this would be enough to satisfy the senses, but in Rio de Janeiro, you have barely scratched the surface. In the hands of Rdj4u and their W anderlust Package, you can delve deeper into the city’s cultural and societal fabric and discover some wonderful hidden treasures. Here’s what you can enjoy:
Tijuca Rainforest Jeep Tour
Enchanting. Tranquil. Sublime. Take an open top jeep ride through the verdant wonders of Tijuca Rainforest and learn all about the local ecosystems in the company of an expert guide. Travellers are often surprised to hear that this vibrant, luxuriant labyrinth of flora and fauna was completely replanted by hand in the late 19th century, and it is now all that remains of the Atlantic jungle that formerly consumed Rio de Janeiro. On a tour of Tijuca with Rdj4u, a collection of natural and cultural delights await: soak in the spectacular cascading waters of Cachoeira dos Macacos; visit the legendary Mesa do Imperador where Dom Pedro II would once take his court for picnics; and gaze at some spellbinding, uninterrupted views from Vista Chinesa. Astonishing beauty to be found in every direction.
A Trip to Rocinha Favela
Brazil’s rich cultural heritage largely emanated from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, and they have always been a hotbed of talented artisans and musicians. The original sounds and rhythms of samba were born here, and the mesmerising spectacle of Carnival is organised and refined on the streets of these neighbourhoods. For decades, the impoverished mountainside district of Rocinha was altogether off limits, but today the situation is much improved and the local residents openly embrace tourism. Immensely informative, socially enlightening, and entirely safe – this R ocinha Favela Tour offers travellers a truly unique opportunity to gain a better understanding of the city, and uncover an alternative Brazilian reality beyond the landmark attractions.
Angra Dos Reis & Ilha Grande Day Tour or Buzios Day Tour from Rio
If you need to relax and unwind following a few days of nonstop exploration and adventure, Rdj4u has two very attractive options: mini getaways to either I lha Grande or B uzios. Combining the sights of Rio with one of these idyllic tours will further enrich your trip, and ensure you leave Brazil having experienced the full spectrum of local lifestyles. Each destination offers the same temptations – golden white beaches and warm turquoise blue coastal waters. They are both paradise on earth. Rio de Janeiro is simply a treat for intrepid travellers and Rdj4u offers authentic experiences aplenty. Offering fantastic deals for seeing the best of South America!
Green Toad Bus offer a number of fantastic travel passes taking you through all the must see destinations in South America. But this month we take a look at the Green Toad travel pass that takes you from the most northern tip of Chile, up through the snow-capped Andes and into Bolivia, where you make a magical journey across Salar de Uyuni – one of the most iconic destinations in the world. The journey begins in San Pedro de Atacama, a vast desert in the north of Chile and a stunning expanse of rugged, otherworldly landscapes and spectacular scenery. After exploring the charming centre of the town, jump on the green toad bus and venture northwards and upwards, high into the Andes mountain range and across the Bolivian border to begin your Salt flat adventure. Included in the travel pass is a three day and two night salt-flat jeep tour, where you are guided around this expansive landscape and can enjoy stunning views of majestic volcanoes, colourful lakes lagoons, geysers and of course the salt flats themselves all from the comfort of your jeep. The incredible location and sense of adventure is added to by the altitude –a staggering 3,656 meters above sea level and the unique wildlife you can spot from your jeep. Expect to see flamingos, Andean foxes and the curly tailed visacachas. After three days of spectacular scenery, the green toad bus begins its descent from the high plains of the Andes and takes you to the sprawling urban metropolis of La Paz. Here you couldn’t be much further from the serenity of the salt flats – with the city’s urban air and chaotic architecture, all still at a dizzying height above sea level. Whilst the hustle and bustle of the city is somewhat intimidating at first, after getting to know the de facto capital, it is clear the Bolivian city of La Paz has real charm, character and charisma – a truly unique destination. This travel pass covers 3 exceptionally unique destinations and totally differing landscapes. Q&A WITH RHI KIMCHI rhi@meadowsinthemountains.com
"Jump on every opportunity for experience."
Meadows in the Mountains is possibly one of the most remote festivals on our radar this year. Marketing manager Rhi offered to tell us a little bit about this unique festival and her many roles in the events business. So, tell us a little bit about yourself... Hi I am Rhi! I am Meadows in the Mountains marketing manager, and also work in artist management and event production. I am also the co-founder of a media production company Entirety Labs where we specialise in music and festival media. Many pies etc. How did you make this dream a reality? Blagging my way into festivals for years and meeting the right people. What motivates you? Seeing [a festival] come to life is pretty amazing. When you can look out at a crowd of people all having the time of their lives, thats pretty special. Speaking of special; the location for MITM is spectacular. Can you set the scene for those who don't know? We are really lucky to call the Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria our home. Think an idyllic mountain top (our site is literally on the peak) where you can watch the sun dip and the mountain come alive
with music at night. No cars can get to our festival site which means we have to rely on the local Bulgarians with Horse and Cart to get people up the last part of the mountain! What else sets you apart from other European festivals? Many festivals take green initiatives but we are a totally plastic free site. All our stages are built from locally sourced wood and we say a big NO to portaloos. All our toilets are composting and we have had feedback they are some of the best festival toilets people encounter! Word of advice for anyone looking to start their own venture/make their mark? Jump on every opportunity for experience. It must be fun working for a festival! Correct. It can be stressful at times and planning things on spreadsheets for months isn't exactly that glamorous, but when it all comes to life its definitely worth it! OKTOBERFEST Germany’s no.1 beer festival is one cultural celebration to tick off of your bucket list this year! The 16 day beer drinking extravaganza, that is Oktoberfest is held in Munich, Germany every year and is the world’s largest beer festival, where thousands of people from all over the world come to pit their livers and their sanity against some of Germany’s best beers. You’d be forgiven for thinking the festival was run in October, yet it starts on 17th September, only running until the 3rd October – to allow for warmer weather during the event. It’s tradition for the Mayor of Munich to tap the first beer, (essentially opening a barrel) and probably having a damn good swig of it to mark the start of the year’s occasion.
Other non-compulsory rules which will certainly make things more fun (and give you more brownie points with the locals) are dressing in the famous lederhosen attire, and partaking in a classic Bavarian dance. Don’t worry, you won’t care about looking stupid after your tenth stein. We can’t think of a better way to spend September than eating Bratwursts, swilling Steins of beer and having our best shot at pronouncing German Words such as Krunkensvester - that means nurse by the way, and you’ll probably need one after all that beer!

SPAIN
PAMPLONA FESTIVAL Staying on the party campsite of El Molino, in pre-erected tents, you will spend your days wandering the city or relaxing in one of the campsite's two pools. Firework displays mark the start of each evening, illuminating you and your new friends as you party the night away.
party campsite, El Molino with two pools and two bar areas, a river for swimming, preerected tents, party nights and free shuttles to the festival, camping with FFT makes for an awesome week in Spain.
On the 6th of July your day will be spent in a sea of red - the festival’s iconic colour - so bring a red T-shirt and be ready to party hard in the plaza with many other red-wearing locals and travellers alike.
4. The Bull Runs. Of course, this is not everyone’s cup of tea, but do keep in mind that bull running is not bull fighting. Running with bulls is entirely up to the traveller, however watching the event from the balconies above can be a great and unforgettable experience.
Pamplona is also home to the infamous running of the bulls. We don’t suggest you partake in the activity, but if you’re brave enough, or have a death-wish, then be our guest!
5. The Food and Drink. If you have been to Spain previously, you will probably agree they know their cuisine. Tapas, paella, sangria, kalimotxo (red wine and cola)... the list goes on.
1. The Opening Ceremony. This has to be hands down one of the most fun days of the summer! On the 6th July each year, the Spanish city of Pamplona turns into a sea of red and wine, water and sangria. Make sure you get to the plaza early for a day of partying!
What’s even better is that Pamplona is reasonably cheap, meaning you can stuff your face with fried calamari and croquettes and still have change for a bottle of red wine!
2. The Fireworks. Each night in Pamplona centre, there is the most impressive fireworks display in the park. Since 2000, the local fireworks companies compete to impress the public with their half an hour of entertainment. The best spot to watch the fireworks is from the Vuelta del Castillo Park - the park above the coach station. 3. The Campsite Experience. First Festival Travel has been operating tours to San Fermin for over 20 years. You can stay on the best
6. The Weather. Whether (get it?) you watch, run, or don’t even see a bull during the San Fermin fiesta, you are almost always guaranteed to have a hot and sunny week. Temperatures often reach 40 degrees and it hardly ever rains, so best make use of those pools on the campsite right? Written by @bucketlistBK. HOW TO AVOID DEATH
BY-AUSSIE-ANIMALS WHEN CRUISING THE QUEENSLAND COAST
If you’ve just arrived in Australia, then you’ve probably realised there are quite a few critters that might endanger you. But here are a few ways you can avoid meeting your demise via an Aussie critter. Sharks
On average, 1 fatal shark attack occurs per year in Australian waters. To put that in perspective, approximately 300 people die from drowning in Australia every year. You’re actually more likely to be killed by a falling coconut, a malaria carrying mosquito (which we don’t have, relax) or even, from falling out of bed. In order to drastically minimise your chance of being that 1 extremely unfortunate individual who’ll statistically face death-by-shark, don’t swim in unprotected or unpatrolled waters. Those people all matching in yellow and red you’ve seen at the beach, that’s not an Aussie fashion-trend, they’re our lifeguards.
Snakes
No, they don’t chase you. Like most animals, snakes are more afraid of you than you are of them. Typically, a snake will feel your approaching vibrations through the earth and slither away without your knowing. When threatened or provoked however, a snake will ready itself for defence. If you encounter a snake, its recommended to stand stationary – a snake won’t 38
www.bbmlive.com
strike you if you remain motionless, if you’ve not the willpower, slowly and calmly retreat.
Spiders
Aussie spiders are guaranteed to be around 5 times bigger than any you’ve ever seen before, but it’s not just the big ones you want to watch out for as the redbacks can also pack a nasty bite. Then general rule is… check your shoes before putting them, look before you sit down, and if you don’t try and touch the spider it will leave you alone!
Dingoes
“A Dingo ate my baby” isn’t a phrase Australians actually use, and dingoes don’t actually hunt and consume babies. Although the 40-year-old story originates from a debated truth, in reality the incidence of attacks on humans are rather rare. Fraser Island is home to approximately 200 dingoes , many of which have become accustomed to human presence, so it’s likely you’ll encounter one. It’s against the law to feed dingoes as encouraging their company typically results in an increase of attacks. Although rare, the majority of dingo attacks do happen at Fraser Island, so it’s important to follow the rules and regulations that have been implemented as a safety precaution. If this hasn’t put you off just yet, then book your tour to Fraser Island now for the adventure of a lifetime. Find out more about Fraser Island tours at

5 Reasons To Visit Kangaroo Island Right Now There are many reasons to visit this amazing part of South Australia, but here’s our top 5 reasons to visit Kangaroo Island right now! What is practically a zoo without fences, Kangaroo Island is a must see destination whilst travelling in Australia. Located south of the country, the island is made up of National and Conservation parks which set out to protect the wildlife including sea lions, koalas and, of course, kangaroos. Across its 155km length are large cliffs, long beaches and dense bushland, Kangaroo Island is just waiting to be explored.
The History
The island has a history dating back as far as the 1800’s. One open access attraction is the site of the first official settlement in southern
Australia. Walk down the many paths and take a journey through history as well as enjoying the native birdlife such as black swans and Australian pelicans. Since the 1930s, Aboriginal campsites have been discovered in a number of areas around the Island, including one near the sea lion colonies of Cape du Couedic.
Wildlife
Minutes from the mainland - albeit feeling a million miles away; Kangaroo Island is a sanctuary for wildlife and natural, rugged beauty. Breeding all year round, you’re likely to see the lovely sight of a baby ‘roo in its mother’s pouch. The ocean is teeming with fish and sea lions. And a top tip for visiting in the cooler months, if you stand on the shore you might just catch a glimpse of the southern right whales and their calves.
The Food
Due to the pristine condition of the island, the food is of amazing quality. The local food industry thrives off organic produce such as eggs and cheese as well as homemade jams, sauces and marinades. Kangaroo Island’s apiarists harvest honey from the pure strain Ligurian bees, and regional cheeses and yoghurts continue to find a place in food lovers’ hearts. Fresh seafood is featured across the Island and seasonally you can enjoy a variety of natural and farmed produce such as oysters, prawns, crayfish, whiting,
snapper and, not forgetting freshwater marron - it’s so easy to get a taste for Kangaroo Island!
The Views & Activities
The Island is bordered by beautiful beaches, tall cliffs and stunning granite formations. You can quietly see native Australian wildlife as they should be, in their natural habitats. Whether you want to dangle a line from a jetty, cast a line from one of the numerous beaches, or charter a deep-sea boat, the Island offers excellent fishing spots for all to enjoy. SYDNEY
a unique view of awaits
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a Sydney icon and a part of city life. Since 1932, it has been a symbol of Australia known the world over, and an important feature of the spectacular New Year’s Eve firework display. With its coathanger-like structure stretched across the beautiful natural harbour, Sydneysiders have driven it, walked it and sailed under it for years to travel between North Sydney and the CBD. With an arch length of 503 metres and the top of the arch at 134 metres above sea level, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is enormous, and chances are it will inadvertently appear in one or two of your holiday snaps – which isn’t a bad thing. Whether sparkling in the evening or clouded in fog on an early morning, the bridge is a marvel to look at any time of the day. If looking at the Sydney Harbour Bridge just isn’t enough and you want to get close enough to feel its smooth steel in your hands, you can climb it. BridgeClimb has been available since 1998, and it has become one of the top must-dos when visiting Sydney. With a range of climbs available throughout the day, including Twilight, Night, Dawn and Day, it’s an unforgettable feeling once you reach the top. Here’s 10 reasons why you should experience a Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb.
