CLUB MANAGER Dear Ocean Edge Members, Traditionally, Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of Summer. However, this past weekend, it felt more like Fall and Winter than Summer. With the restrictions around the state being lifted, we know that we are going to be returning to a sense of normalcy soon and hopefully that includes warmer temperatures and sun for the Summer months.

I am excited to be at Ocean Edge and am looking forward to meeting everyone soon. The few members that I have met so far have been extremely friendly and welcoming, which I truly appreciate. Thank you for welcoming me to the Ocean Edge Family.

We know that last year was a tough year for everyone for a lot of different reasons.

This season we are excited to get back to 100% capacity and having all the outlets and amenities open. Our staff has been working hard the last couple of months and weeks to prepare and we continue to work thru everything as we reopen from 12 months or more of “hibernation”. We appreciate your patience and understanding but please know, we are working as diligently as we can to make sure everything is ready to go for the Summer rush.

Our seasonal staff has started to arrive and you will continue to see new faces arrive on property daily as we continue to ramp up. As welcoming as you have been to me, please welcome them to Ocean Edge. They are all excited and eager to help provide you and your family and guests the experience you are looking for. Even though, the masks might still be on right now, you can tell they are all smiling and happy to help in any way.

Thank you again for all the support and warm welcomes. I am truly honored to be here and want to make sure we, as a team, are providing you with the experience that you deserve and want. ADVISORY BOARD Welcome back to all our members that head south or west for the winter and hello again to all those that enjoyed a fairly snow free winter on Cape Cod! I would first like to welcome our new Advisory Board members. Our first Advisory Meeting of the new year was this past Saturday May 15th and Ruth Grande, Art Zouharis and Eric Barber joined our meeting and it was a terrific morning. I would also like to send a big thank you to Rosemary O'Reilly and Brian O'Connell for their very positive contributions to the Advisory Board and Ocean Edge during their 3 year tenure on the Board.

The entire Food & Beverage Management team joined the meeting in addition to Bob Newman, Chris Thomas and Aimee Guthinger. The Food & Beverage team, led by Tarun Rajain and Chef Philip Flath, have huge plans on their plate(sorry) for the rest of the year. The Linx has a terrific new menu and will be offering specials on a regular basis. Chef Cooper Bogart is back and is being joined by our new Linx General Manager Jason Miller. I have had the pleasure of dining with my family at the Linx a number of times this year already and am very excited about the leadership team running the Linx.

The food and service has been excellent.

I look forward to each of you meeting our new Club Manager Chris Thomas. Chris has a very impressive background in our industry and has an extremely positive outlook that all team members will enjoy. Please introduce yourself to Chris as you see him around the property...you will be happy you did.

There will be many new events taking place on the beautiful front lawn of the Mansion and the additional landscaping that has been added to the area is terrific. Of course a very important goal for Membership and Management alike will be the addition of Member Social events. The end of the month will bring new guidance from the State and we are excited for a normal social calendar to return and to enjoy the company of one another again soon.

Aimee Guthinger continues to excel at keeping all of us informed of the goings on at our Club and Resort. Aimee is currently in the process of completely overhauling our Ocean Edge Member website and I am sure we will all be very impressed with the end product. Craig Sullivan and his team have our magnificent golf course in pristine condition and is just hopeful for some end of spring showers! Shayne Sakson has the Pro Shop in order with some terrific new items for sale and is currently completing his staffing for the late Spring and Summer season. Heidi VanAmburgh and her great team are also very excited as many outdoor classes will soon begin and the MSC pool opens on Memorial Day weekend.

I am always available to chat with any members on anything, positive or negative, that you may want to share. Cape Cod is looking to have the busiest summer in history and Ocean Edge will be leading that trend as we look to the busiest summer in our history too. This will bring great fun for all but also will come with some new challenges that will bring some changes too. It is going to be a fantastic summer at Ocean Edge.

One last tidbit...when you go to the Linx you must try Chef Bogart's new Hoisin chicken wings...just the best.

MEMBERSHIP Thus far in 2021 the Club is experiencing a surge in membership and increased interest in our Club, and for good reason, we are the most complete Membership opportunity on Cape Cod! FITNESS New Class Schedule Featured Highlights

H.I.I.T. CAMP Join us for a new class at the Member Sports Club, HIIT CAMP! 45 minutes of HI/lo intervals using weights, bands, balls, and bars. All exercises can be modified for all fitness levels.

Classes will be indoor/ outdoor so bring a towel, mat and water bottle.

S.C.M: Step, Core and MORE! A dynamic combination of step and weights to increase your cardio endurance and gain more strength in your core. All levels welcome.

20/20/20: Twenty minutes of cardio, stretching, and weight training; not always in that order! For those that like variety, this is the class for you. Spin bikes and/or steps may be used for cardio portion. All levels welcome.

BODY BAR PLUS: This is a strength training class using the weighted Body Bars. Tone, tighten, and improve your balance. All levels welcome.

MVE CHAIR PILATES: The Pilates Chair equipment allows you to shape, tone, lengthen and align quite differently than the Mat. In short, the equipment works better and faster to change the body.

Furthermore, additional advanced core work is available on equipment for the more accomplished practitioner. Last

but not least, working on the equipment is fun! All levels welcome.

ACTIVITIES Hi everyone! This winter & spring your Director of FUN & Entertainment kept things lively with various special events and daily activities at Ocean Edge! It was a pleasure to see some of you at our special events such as the NYE Dinner at the Frost Bar, Framed Glass Art Workshop, Kentucky Derby Hat Making, & Etched Glass Workshop. Some of you also came out to our daily activities such as Mixology workshops, the EdgeVenture Bear Factory, Video game tournaments, origami & more! We even saw some of you at the EdgeVenture Superhero Academy in February and at the April Olympiad week.

Our Fireside Enrichment Series was a hit and is set to return come October. In the meantime, if you or someone you know happen to be an established artist, author, or specialist. Please feel free to email me contact information if you’d like to be featured in the lobby for an evening to chat with others regarding your specialty and/or showcase your work.

This summer we are expecting to have a busy summer full of activities for the families to enjoy. Private Experiences will return this year such as Private Archery (ages 9+), Private Family Oyster Tours, & Private Family Beach Fires in the evenings. All private experience reservations will be done through an online booking system this year, which we are all excited to launch very soon. Unlike last year, there will be a full calendar of daily hosted events for all to enjoy such as scavenger hunts, movie nights, & more. Our Golf & Tennis Pros are offering a half day Tennis/Golf program this year Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays June 29th – September 2nd and your Activities team will be offering Kids Night Out on select Wednesdays & Fridays June 23rd – August 11th.

Private Beach Fires are happening nightly, so beat the summer tourist crowd & use your member discount to book your private 2 hour beach fire & s’mores for up to 10 people.

Our Front Lawn venue will be hopping nightly featuring live music Fridays, Saturdays AND Sundays this year! 6:30PM – 8:30PM so come out & show your support by singing along loud and proud! If you’ve ever seen The Voice on TV, then you’ll want to stop by on select Sundays. The kids can enjoy games nightly 4PM – 9PM. Trivia Nights are taking place at Linx Tavern on June 3rd & June 17th @ 6:30PM. Reservations highly encouraged, mention Trivia for seating purposes.

TENNIS & PICKLEBALL Tennis News: The clay courts are beautiful and the Fletcher tennis courts

have been professionally cleaned and ready for action. Member tennis parties are back! Contact the Tennis Pro Shop to book your party today!

The Ocean Edge adult tennis programs are in full swing. Click here to view the current schedule online. Some highlights include Men’s Doubles on Saturdays from 9:00-11:00 AM and a mixed round robin on Sundays from 9:00-10:30 AM. Ocean Edge Clinic happens on Saturday from 9:00-10:30 AM (intermediate level) and Workout with the Pros on Sunday 10:30-12:00 AM (advanced level). The junior program offer clinics on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30-3:00 PM until June 21st and then daily from that day forward.

The Ocean Edge Ladies tennis team will be competing against neighboring clubs with a full schedule this Summer. The Men’s team will also host matches against other clubs as scheduled.

Pickleball News: The Ocean Edge Pickleball program is growing. We

are now carrying top of the line, SELKIRK paddles with demos for you to try.

Jim and Patrick are teaching pickleball, until our full time pro arrives later this month. Pickleball round robins begin this weekend 9:00-11:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. These round robins will be run by Lexi Harris, our weekend Pickleball attendant until June 26th.

Call (774) 323-6300 to sign up for a Pickleball Intro Clinic. These take place on Tuesdays at 11:30 AM and Fridays at 10:30 AM. Please also call the Pro Shop to secure court time and for assistance with matchmaking.

2021 TENNIS PROGRAMS

AGRONOMY The Agronomy team is looking forward to a busy and more “normal” golf season for 2021. Our team has been very busy starting with the off-season and our tree programs. Trees were assessed during the 2020 season for safety, playability, and aesthetics. We worked our way around the whole golf course from December until the end of February, concentrating on what we deemed high profile areas. Our goal was on pruning and tree removals to increase turf health, but also make the course more player friendly. Examples of our pruning work and tree removals completed over the winter months are pictured here.

Springtime is a busy time for the Agronomy team as many important plant protectants must be applied. Pre and post emergence herbicide for weeds, insecticides that target turf pests, wetting agents that help retain moistures in our soils and allow the plants easier accessibility to water. Also, our granular fertilizer application to all playing surfaces that provide nutrients to the plants through out the summer months. All of these actions together provide the building block to a successful golf season!

Lastly, with high amount of rounds we have seen and expect to see this summer, we ask the Membership to help the Agronomy team by fixing an extra ball mark and to fill a few extra divots. Those small gesture will go a long way in helping make a more enjoyable round of golf for all next time out!
