There will be a plentiful beer selection and full bars throughout the grounds. Other attractions include Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse, Honky Tonk Dance Hall, Half-Pint Hootenanny, tasty BBQ and more. Both Fridays will feature the third annual Denim Tuxedo Night where guests can dress to impress with each participant eligible to win a free upgraded pass. And a visit would not be complete without a whirl on the Ferris Wheel, offering breathtaking bird’s eye views from the top. Yee-haw excitement, vintage vibes and the best eats and beats west of the Mississippi will convince you you’re in “Heaven,” with Kane Brown singing just to you.

esert X international art exhibition returns for the fourth year, showcasing 12 installations by artists from Europe, North America and South Asia. Their immersive works span sculpture, painting, photography, writing, architecture, design, film, music, performance, choreography, education and environmental activism. Think giant sculptural structures and outdoor visuals with social commentary masterfully integrated into the designs. The outdoor exhibits promote cultural education and the opportunity for artists to address ecological, spiritual, historical and other societal issues such as climate health and po-
litical influences. This year’s artists include Rana Begum from Bangladesh and based in London; Paloma Contreras Lomas from Mexico; and Gerald Clarke from Anza, California; among others. The exhibit is produced by Desert Biennial and is co-curated by Diana Campbell along with returning artistic director Neville Wakefield. An important subtext of the program is the reverence paid to the Cahuilla people as the original stewards of the land on which Desert X takes place. Desert X Hub will be located at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs where guests can obtain a map of artist installations and a full guide to the exhibition.

Help end HIV during Dining Out For Life at the valley’s top restaurants By Alison Elsner Dining Out For Life Thursday, April 27 Various restaurants, bars and coffee shops throughout the Coachella Valley DAP Health 1695 N. Sunrise Way Palm Springs @diningout4life

T
he concept is simple: restaurants, bars, and coffee shops donate a generous percentage of their sales to DAP Health (Desert AIDS Project), and diners then visit those locations to support the mission of ending HIV. Over two dozen restaurants throughout the Coachella Valley take part, including 1501 Uptown Gastropub, Tac/ Quila, Juniper Table, The Tropicale, Farm, El Mirasol (two locations), Coachella Valley Coffee, Eight4Nine and others. Dining Out For Life Greater Palm Springs has grown to become the second-most-successful market in the country. In 2022, 68 desert eater-
ies, bars, bakeries, and coffee shops raised $207,000, which was more than San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago and other large urban centers. DAP Health is committed to limiting the spread of HIV in the Coachella Valley where the rate of infection is 400 percent greater than the national average. Free and confidential testing is provided seven days a week, and the majority of clients is comprised of low-income, medically underserved community members. All funds raised in the Coachella Valley remain local. You have to eat, right? Might as well improve community health in the process.

CURTAIN TIME
Discover where the curtains will rise this month By Gary Walker
D
esert TheatreWorks’ “The Play That Goes Wrong,” running April 14-30, is one of those plays that demonstrate that if anything can go wrong, it probably will. It joins the short list that includes the brilliant “Noises Off” that employs snafus on- and off-stage. If you’ve ever been in a play, you’ll recognize the some of the chaos. Welcome to the opening night of the Cornley University Drama Society’s newest production, “The Murder at Haversham Manor,” where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show – a corpse that can’t stay dead, an unconscious leading lady and actors that trip over everything (including their lines). Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, this Tony Award-winning comedy is a global phenomenon you shouldn’t miss. Curtain Time: “The Play That Goes Wrong,” Desert TheatreWorks, April 14-30, Indio Performing Arts Center (IPAC), 45175Fargo St., Indio. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matinee 2 p.m. Tickets: $39.50-$41.50, dtw.org.
‘The Garbologists’
Lindsay Joelle’s “The Garbologists” concludes Dezart Performs 15th season April 14-23. Broadway World called it a “finely crafted play, laced with wit and wisdom.” The lives of a white conservative and a Black liberal working together in a New York City garbage truck become more entwined, and they discover some things are easier to throw away than others. It’s a play that is a hopeful story about finding common ground in uncommon times. Director and Founding Artistic Director Michael Shaw says, “As the adage goes, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Lindsay Joelle’s beautifully written and perfectly pitched dialogue is itself something to be treasured.” Danny (Jacob Alden Roa), a nine-year veteran of The City of New York Sanitation Service, is matched with Marlowe (Devereau K. Chumrau) on her first day as a garbage collector. Curtain Time:”The Garbologists”, April 1423, Dezart Performs, Pearl McManus Theater, 314 S.
