n April 7 - 23, “Little Women” the Broadway musical, is set to be performed at the Palm Canyon Theatre. Based on Louisa May Alcott’s life, “Little Women” follows the adventures of sisters: Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but no one is interested. Meanwhile, a friend encourages Jo to write more about personal experience. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters growing up in Civil War America into an exciting musical journey. Friday performances will be held on April 7, April 14, and April 21 at 8 p.m. Saturday performances will take place on April 8, April 15, and April 22 at 8 p.m. Sunday performances will be on April 9, April 16, and April 23 at 2 p.m. And Thursday performances will be on April 13 and April 20 at 7 p.m.

The “Little Women” book was written by Allan Knee, with music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott. Since opening Palm Canyon Theatre 26 years ago, audiences have remained loyal, while at the same time growing. Donations from the public are accepted for operating this nonprofit for over two decades and can be made through the Palm Canyon Theatre website. Palm Canyon Theatre also offers its Summer Kids Camp for young artists, ages 6-17-years-old, for six weeks, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Participants will be divided into age-specific groups to learn different components of theatre.
