The Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) is a public-private partnership with the City of Berwyn that provides chamber services and economic development to all segments of the Berwyn community.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Ann Filmer, 16th Street Theater is Berwyn’s first professional, equity theater. It is under the umbrella of the Berwyn Cultural Center, a part of the North Berwyn Park District. The highly acclaimed theater received honors from the Chicago Reader in 2009 for Best Emerging Theater Company and is a finalist for the League of Chicago Theatres’ 2011 Broadway in Chicago Emerging Chicago Theater Award. In 2009, New City Stage honored Ann Filmer in their list of “The 50 people who really perform for Chicago.” Jedlicka Performing Arts Center (JPAC) at Morton College 3801 S Central Ave, Cicero 708-656-1800 jpactheatre.com JPAC is in its 30th season of producing a varied season of 3 plays and 3 musicals. JPAC has become known for Chicago premieres of new and rarely produced work and for lavish productions of Broadway musicals. Galerie des Terrors Horrorbles 6729 W Roosevelt Rd 708-484-7370 horrorbles.com “The Galerie des Terrors,” located in the lower level of Horrorbles, houses a gallery space and viewing center. The space includes a mini theater complete with red velvet curtains and runway lighting. The galerie is utilized for classes and gallery exhibits and is also available for children’s parties & theater rental for private events.
Hawthorne Museum at Morton College 3801 S Central Ave, Cicero 708-656-8000 ext 320 morton.edu/museum This museum provides a lens through which you can view the rich industrial history of our community, and, by extension, the history of 20th Century America. The museum chronicles the history behind Western Electric’s Hawthorne Works plant that manufactured famous inventions from Bell Labs from vacuum tubes to transistors, sound for motion pictures, the loudspeaker, the microphone, the transcontinental phone line, radar and ship-to-shore equipment for the Signal Corps and fiber optics. Berwyn Route 66 Museum 7003 W Ogden Ave 708-484-9349 berwynrt66museum.org The mission of the Berwyn Route 66 Museum is to discover, present and preserve the history of Route 66 as it passes through Berwyn.
