Academic Award Ceremony ‘15
‘It shouldn't be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It's the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth. When something's difficult to come by, you'll do that much more to make sure it's even harder or impossible to lose.’ Sarah Dessen Garden Town Campus celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of award winners for Classes III to Matriculation and X C for the session 2014-15 at an Academic Award Ceremony on November 21, 2015. Dr.Farhan Ebadat Yar Khan, the former Professor Government College University (GCU) and currently DG Education and Sports Railway Schools graced the occasion as Chief Guest and gave away the awards and certificates to the proud students. Students of Class IV and VIII and Choir of Primary School performed skits and sang national songs to entertain the audience.
Star of GT - Mustafa Ali of 10 M - Blue A special mention needs to be made of Mustafa Ali of 10 M - Blue who bagged number of trophies and gold medals in the following competitions and tournaments.
Newlympic Games 2015-16 Beaconhouse Newlands organized Newlympic Games 2015-16 on the 21st of October, 2015. Mustafa Ali secured 1st position and also received Gold Medal in Table Tennis.
LGS 55 –Main Sports Fest 2015-16 LGS 55-Main arranged this sports fest from the 6th to 8th of November, 2015. BGTL took part in it with great zeal and secured 1st position and received Gold Medals in table tennis, Starring Mustafa Ali!
KIMS Sports Fest 2015-16 KIMS arranged a sports fest from the 27th to 29th November, 2015. BGTL took part in this sports fest st and secured 1 position and received gold medals. Mustafa Ali bagged Gold Medals in Table Tennis Singles, Doubles and Team Events.
SICAS Sports Fest 2015-16 BGTL took part in this sports fest organized by SICAS and secured 1st position. Mustafa Ali bagged three Gold Medals in Table Tennis Singles, Doubles and Team Events.
Intra Region Table Tennis Tournament 2015– 16 This tournament was organized by Beaconhouse Valencia Town on the 2nd of November, 2015. BGTL secured 1st position and received gold medals. Along with Mustafa Ali, Taimor Ahmad of 11 C Yellow and M. Ahmad of 11 C White won Gold Medals in this tournament. Mustafa Ali of class 10-M-Blue received the award for the Best Player of The Tournament.

Oath Taking Ceremony Student Council Elections were held on 17th September, 2015 at Beaconhouse Garden Town Campus, Lahore. Moosa Khan of XI C Brown has been elected the Head boy of the campus. Arham Asif of V Amber will Head the Primary School Student Council as Deputy Head Boy, along with Farhaj Shahid who succeeded as the Deputy Head Boy of the Middle School. Haider Haye stole the show as the Deputy for the Senior School. Students learnt to apply their analytical skills after listening to the candidate's fiery speeches. The election process made them realize their role as responsible students of the school apart from learning to be patient and tolerant. Oath Taking Ceremony was held on 16th October, 2015. The Head Boy, deputy head boys of Primary, Middle, and Senior, and Society Presidents were given sashes by Ms. Farida Shahid. The prefects of each class and office bearers were given badges. The Oath of the Student Council for the session 2015-2016 was taken by Ms. Farida Shahid. Our team is thus all geared up for the year 2015 -16. Good luck.
Teacher’s Day Teacher’s Day was celebrated on 5th October 2015. Students of Primary, Middle and Senior gathered together, and the teachers were given a warm welcome. The day was celebrated with fervour and excitement; activities in which many opportunities were given to the teachers to show their abilities in skills other than teaching like singing, debating and cooking and were given awards accordingly. Poll for the ‘Best Teacher of GT, was won by the Middle School teacher, Mr. Ahmed Ali Shah by a huge margin. All in all, a day well spent.
Global Dignity Day ‘15 A special assembly was conducted to celebrate Global Dignity day at Beaconhouse Garden Town Campus on 21st October 2015. Support staff members were called upon the stage and were presented with flowers by the Student Council. Skits were performed by various classes, songs were sung by the support staff members and speeches were delivered by the students to emphasize upon the importance of dignity. Student of Grade III recited a French poem and translation was followed by a student of Grade IV. ‘Digni-tree’ was mounted on one of the school walls and the School Heads, teachers and students were invited to share their views about dignity. A portrait exhibition was followed by the poster competition by students of classes III-V. The guests admired the students work and appreciated their efforts to bring colour to the school through their creative talent. The students formed a chain to represent the Global Dignity Insignia. The students were joined by the Heads, the teachers, the Administrative staff and the Support Staff, all in the spirit of Global Dignity. The students of Class IIIs conducted an interview session with Guest Speaker Mr. Faisal Khalid and discussed and shared the principles of dignity. The students of Class Vs also conducted a discussion forum with Headmistress Ms. Rukhsana Zafar, and exchanged their views about dignity principles, and how they could be incorporated in one’s daily life. Grade VI students prepared badges and class VII and VIII students prepared banners and posters with dignity messages. Teachers and the students from class VIII, staged a walk outside the school to the Kalma Chawk Flyover. The students were holding banners and posters bearing the dignity messages. Most importantly, the students of Middle School wrote ‘Thank you’ notes for teachers and the support staff. The aim of the notes was to make students express their respect for every human. The purpose of this day was to promote worldwide togetherness and awareness among students and inculcate the much needed respect for everyone around us.

Orientation Sessions for classes IIIs & VIs An Orientation Session for the parents of class III students and parents was held on 28th August at BGTL Primary and for the parents and students of class VI on 4th September, 2015. The Heads of GT Primary and Middle School, Ms. Rukhsana Zafar and Ms. Maria Chishti delivered welcome notes in the sessions. The purpose of these sessions is to familiarize the parents with teaching and assessment policies and procedures to be followed by the students who have moved from the Early Years to Primary, and from Primary to Middle School. Also, the queries of the parents were answered by the Heads and class III and VI teachers. The most attractive part of the Orientation Session was the presentations delivered by the respective subject teachers of classes IIIs and VIs.
GT at JTSTC BGTL Senior School participated in a competition organized by LGS Johar Town Boys’ Campus on the 15th and 16th of September. The students spent a day with the children of SOS, Rising Sun, and PSRD; participating in activities which included art work, teaching and drama making. This show compromised three main activities: 1) Presentation Session: This session was related to HUMAN RIGHTS. Team BGTL presented their findings on the given topic. Our students performed well. AC Fest: AC (Aitchison Craft) AC (Aitchison Craft) Fest was held on 18th September 2015 organized by Aitchison. Tayyab Naveed, Khwaja Umair, Mahad Khalid and others participated in it. Our team showed imagination and creative instinct; BGTL won second position in photography.
ACCA- ‘Popcorn Challenge’ & Workshop Lahore: Beaconhouse Garden Town hosted a two day workshop for Business students on 7th and 8th October organized by ACCA Pakistan. The First Day was Business Simulation challenge 'the Pop Corn Search', at BGTL Senior School - a Business game to provide an insight into the accountancy and finance profession and to develop their skills as future Entrepreneurs. The winners were awarded with MP3 players. The Second Day was an interactive session telling students about Foundation Diploma and ACCA of the fast growing accountancy profession.

Inter- Class Bilingual Story- Telling Competition Inter-Class Bilingual Story-Telling Competition was held on 27th November,2015 in BGTL Primary Campus. Students of Grade V enchanted and thrilled the audience with their interesting story telling skills. Mr. Waris Iqbal graced the occasion and presented the prizes to the winners. Special Assemblies to Celebrate Students’ Achievements A Special Assembly took place at BGTL Primary to celebrate the achievements of the brilliant students in recent events and competitions. Certificates were awarded to the winners of Inter-Class Football Tournament. Winners: Grade V-Red Runner up: Grade V-Violet The Mother of Raza Muhammad was invited to the assembly as he was awarded with a shield and certificate for getting 3rd position in Fun Rang II. In another Special Assembly certificates were given to the Students of the Month of October, and to the winners of Poster Competition held on the Global Dignity Day 2015. Primary School participated in ‘Choir Milli Song Competition’ organized by BSS Allama Iqbal Town Campus as part of their ‘Urdu Week Activities ‘during November, 2015. st We are proud to announce that BGTL Primary secured 1 position in the competition owing to their amazing performance. Einscience’15 Lahore: Model Making Competition An Inter School Event was held at Pak Turk School, Lahore on 3rd to 4th October 2015. A total of 24 teams participated in this event. Teams took part in a number of sub events, each with its own prize. In Engineering Encounters our boys built an impressive bridge out of Popsicle sticks, that was to be load tested up to 800 grams. A Winning Kick Off - JT Game Craft Lahore Grammar School Johar Town hosted a two day gaming competition in October: The two day event comprised four main games out of which BGTL won two: FIFA 15 and CALL of Duty. Our boys convincingly beat teams from other renowned schools such as LACAS and LGS in fact, they were part of over 1500 participants! FIFA ‘15 was won by Eesa Sarosh 10 C- S (FIFA 15) ( First Position) Call of Duty was won by Hamza Ghauri (9 C - Y) and Nausherwan Kashif (10 C - S) The other participants were: • M.Shahmeer, Faizan Elahi (10 C - W) • Rehan Basher(9 C - S) • M. Talha (9 C - W) Our team battled exceptionally well, as is obvious from the results. Keep it up!
Students’ Reading Circles and Swap - a - Book Activity These Reading Circles are being organized for the students of BGTL Primary for the past three consecutive years to develop the healthy habit of reading. The students are facilitated by the teachers to select good books from the BGTL Primary library and read them in order to achieve knowledge of the world before a focused discussion about the reading. Students of class IIIs participated in “Swap a Book” activity as well. They exchanged their favourite story books with their fellows. for reading and discussed it. Through this activity firstly, we aim for the students to develop a healthy companionship with the books; secondly to discuss the content with each other/ among friends and peers, and finally, to become progressive, prolific readers, with the passage of time.
Teachers’ Reading Circles Reading Circles for teachers and students are a regular feature of BGTL Primary for the past three years. Through this activity, teachers get an opportunity to be a part of an informal professional development event. Teachers go through a joint reading and discussion exercise linked to advanced reading materials. This enables the teachers to sit together, share and discuss the new research in the realm of literature and teaching methodologies, relevant to their own subject. This facilitates better understanding and aids them in transferring it to their students. Thus, in turn, enhancing the students ability to understand and learn as well.
PSHE Workshops The PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Emotional wellbeing) Workshops are being organized for the class teachers of BGTL aimed at equipping the teachers with knowledge of the new subject. Through these workshops, they experienced various activities related to PSHE and developed an understanding of the PSHE lesson planning. The teachers were provided necessary guidance to employ the PSHE lessons as a pathway to transforming the students into successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens, eventually.

Intra Region Cricket Tournament 2015-16 BGTL took part in the Intra Region Cricket Tournament held from the 13th to 15th of October, 2015 in Lahore. SEEDS OF PEACE Every year BGTL students are selected and invited to the prestigious Seeds of Peace camp in Maine, USA. It is now almost a tradition for BGTL students to get selected and participate. This year, two of the seeds for last year, Muhammad Arham and Irtaza Ali conducted a Seeds of Peace Seminar for 11 C students on 20th October 2015 to give them a guide line as to the expectation. Students were informed about the aims and objectives of the organization the selection criteria.
Inter-Class Basketball Tournament Middle School was the hub of excitement during different tournaments. Class VI White, VII Amber and VIII Amber were the winners of Inter-Class Basketball Tournament. The Principal BGTL Ms. Farida Shahid and Head of Middle School Ms. Maria Chishti gave away the prizes and certificates to the students who earned a good name for GT with their terrific performances. Ms. Maria gave an ending note, conveying the message that co-curricular activities are indispensable in developing confident, all round personalities.
Our Brave Martyrs In loving memory of our brave martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar, the students of Beaconhouse School Garden Town Campus wrote touching messages for members of the bereaved families. The month of December will forever remain synonymous with the tragedy of APS. These young martyrs will remain in our heart forever. May their souls rest in peace. May we always remember that their martyrdom does not go waste and is never forgotten.
Speech Competition at LGS Mustafa Rehan of Class V-Blue gave an outstanding speech and secured the First Position in the English Speech Competition in the 2nd Junior Olympiad organized by LGS Paragon Campus. Well Done Mustafa! We are proud of you. It is a matter of great pride that our participating students always return with a prize be it the Primary, Middle or Senior. Way to Go, BGTL!

Discovering New Artist Competition Art is a trade mark of the Middle School. A private organization arranged an art competition under the title, Discovering New Artists (DNA). Active participation was seen on behalf of all the participants from various schools of Lahore. Aareez Janjua from VIII Silver showed his artistic talent by bagging a consolation prize from the hosts. Kudos to the prize winner!
Intra-Class English and Urdu Handwriting Competition Good handwriting is an art that pleases the eyes of the readers and to enhance this skill, Primary and Middle Schools organized Intra-Class English and Urdu Handwriting Competitions among the students of classes III to VIII. All the students enjoyed this competition a lot and worked wholeheartedly to make their work worthy of the competition. Certificates of Honour were awarded to the winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.
Student Of The Month Certificates – The Continuation of our Tradition Continuing with our tradition, the Primary and Middle Schools were awarded Student of The Month Certificates for the months of September, October and November. The students were given the certificates for showing improvement in academic performance and behaviour. With every bit of appreciation, the child develops an appreciation for all that is good and needed to improve his learning. Congratulations, Boys!!!
WWF Memberships GT Middle School continued its previous practice of creating awareness and love for nature amongst the students of class VI, VII and VIII. Middle School renewed the membership forms of the students so that they can become a part of the endless creative and informative activities offered by WWF. Also, Green School Members participated in the photography workshop organized by WWF. The purpose of this workshop was to familiarize young photographers about the latest photography techniques.
Spelling Bee Dawn Spelling Bee Competition was held at the Ali Auditorium in Lahore on 27th October, 2015.Students from BGTL participated enthusiastically in the competition. The students included Abdur Rehman from Class IV, Sheheryar Ahmed Khan from Class V and Ahmed Moiz Azeem from Class VI. BGTL Middle School students, Baqar Abbas, Roshan Khan and Sher Dil Rasheed participated in Dawn Spelling Bee Competition. Participants of the event were selected from grade VI to VIII. Intra-Class Spelling Competition followed by Inter-Class Spelling Competition was held to create transparency in the competitions and select students as Spelling Wizard and Spelling Masters who later competed at the Regional level. They received certificates of participation.
GRAMMATHON 7 2015 Beaconhouse School System Garden Town Campus bagged outstanding awards and positions in Grammathon 7, held at LGS 1A/1, Lahore, from 3rd till 7th October 2015. Our students secured positions in events ranging from swimming and arts, to Battle of the Galaxies, which required technical ability and creativity.
Achieviers Mughees Ali (XI Yellow) and Zain Haider (XI Red) were able to secure three 2nd position prizes, in Swimming and Arts respectively. Asmeer Asif (XI Brown), Asadullah (XI Red), Ahmed Yasser (XI Red) and Anas Malik (XI Red) were able to achieve the first position and emerged as the best company in the Battle of the Galaxies. GT is indeed proud of them.

Sports & Reader of The Month A special assembly was organized at Beaconhouse Garden Town Campus, Lahore on 3rd December,2015to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding students. • For Inter-Class Football Tournament the winner is Class III Red, with Rayyan Faisal as the Team Captain. • For Inter-Class Cricket Tournament, Class IV Amber won, with Muhammad Mustafa as the Team Captain. • The Runner-up for the Inter-Class Cricket Tournament is Class IV-Violet with Muhammad Sadi as the Team Captain. In Memoriam Our own Shahmeer Shafqat form the Class of 2013 and Temoor Malik from the Class of 2014 (XI C Brown) passed away in December. Quiet yet naughty, Temoor and lively Shahmeer will always be remembered by their teachers and class mates. May Allah grant the families the forbearance and patience to overcome their tremendous losses Ameen. In the words of Ibrez Shabkhaz, friend of Shahmeer Shafaqat, “Young and lively, and one of those people how lived up to the fullest even at this age. May you be welcomed to the highest ranks of Jannat-ul-Firdous.” In the words Hamza Iqbal friend of Temoor Malik , “I still can't come to terms with the fact that you are not here with us anymore. You are probably one of the nicest persons I've ever come across in my life. I have known you since the fourth grade and since then we have shared a lot of beautiful memories together. From being the only ones playing Cricket in the games lesson while others played Football to all those matches we played in the Dungi Ground. 'From all those crazy bike rides to playing cricket with a table tennis racket and a ping pong ball in class'. Urdu Celebration Week – A tribute to our National Language! th th
Beaconhouse Garden Town Lahore celebrated Urdu week from 10 to 13 of November in the Primary, Middle and Senior Schools. The event was packed with exciting activities aimed to promote love and interest for our native language amongst the students, there was nazam-khawani, mazmoon nawesi, tehkeek kari and urdu quiz. Students wore kurta shalwar and displayed utmost enthusiasm. The Nazam Khwani and Tehkeeq kari was attended by Mr. Ali Raza, Ms.Mubashara and the members of SG office and was highly appreciated by all. Mushaira was held on Friday 13th November, it was a very successful event attended by the Senior School and the SG office staff: Mr Yazdani, Mr.Waris and many others. The position holders were given certificates. The purpose of this event was to acknowledge our great Urdu poets and writers. BGTL once again was in the forefront to promote our native culture and literature.

Celebrating 40 Anniversary of Beaconhouse School System @ BGTL A special assembly was conducted at Beaconhouse Garden Town Campus on 4th November,2015 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Beaconhouse School System. Our heads Ms. Farida Shahid, Ms. Maliha Khawaja , Ms.Maria Chishti and Ms.Rukhsana Zafar shared their experience of working with the esteemed institution. Great effort was put in by our music teacher Sr.Lamual Hadayat who wrote and composed a special song, sung beautifully by the school choir. A skit was performed by the students of Middle School in which they stressed upon the BSS Learner ProďŹ le points; globally aware, creative, innovative, empathetic, inquisitive, analytical and ethical - this is what we want our students to become. Achievements of the students were also celebrated during the assembly. Roman Shahid of V Amber stood ďŹ rst in World Literacy Day. While Junaid Farooq of IV Blue and Muhammad Labeeq of III Amber got second and third prizes. For World Maths Day competition Hissan Tahir of V Silver scored highest points followed by Sharyar Khan of V Violet whereas Roshaan Javvad of V Violet stood third. We cannot thank Beaconhouse School System enough for providing us opportunities to become better human beings and excel in all areas of life.

BGTL Team - New Additions: Ms. Maleeha Khawaja - Headmistress Senior School Ms. Maleeha Khwaja joined us as the Headmistress of Senior School on August 3, 2015. She was the Head of French and German Department at Aitchison College and taught French to the O’ and A’ Level Students for thirteen years. She has done Masters in French from Kinnaird College for Women University and currently doing M.Phil from ‘University de Franche Comté, Besancon, France. She has lived in Europe and Africa and travelled widely. She is an active member of ‘Zimmedar Shehri’ an organisation helping to create awareness to keep the environment clean. She is working on a project, ‘Reading for all’, and would be setting up libraries in underprivileged schools.
Mr. Amar Elahi Lone - Coordinator Senior School Mr. Amar Ellahi Lone is the Coordinator of BGTL Senior School. He has done his MBA in Banking & Finance from Lahore School of Economics and Masters in Islamic Societies & Cultures from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He started his career in academia from LUMS as a Teaching Assistant. He has taught at the University of Central Punjab and Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design as part of the visiting faculty. He also served as Assistant Professor at University of Gujrat - Sialkot. He joined BSS in August 2014 as an English Teacher. We welcome Mr. Lone to the BGTL Team.
Ms. Shehla Shehzadi - Senior Mistress Middle School Ms. Shahzadi Shehla joined BGTL as Senior Mistress of the Middle Section on September 1, 2015. Previously, she has been working as the Senior Mistress at BSS Bahawalpur as well as the ETAC Ambassador. She worked as GDT (General Duty Trainer) in Regional office Central Region’s Academics’ team for three years and taught generic courses designed by BSS. She has done M.Sc. Education, M.A English Literature, PGCert from Marjon - St. Mark and St. Johns University Plymouth, DTWICT (Diploma in teaching with ICT) from CIE and Diploma in CIE Programme Development Qualifications. Her interests are reading literature and informative books. She is also fond of high altitude trekking and exploring the Northern reaches of Pakistan. She strongly believes in upholding positive values and a sense of right or wrong, which she wants to pass on to the students as she feels that students are our real asset and our future.
Ms. Asifa Jabeen - Coordinator Middle School Ms. Asifa Jabeen joined BGTL - Middle School on September 1, 2015 as the Coordinator. A very senior member of the staff, she has been working at Garden Town Campus since 1990. She has had a very active professional life throughout her career, all the while polishing & honing her skills. She is a passionate person with a positive attitude towards every aspect of life. She shares, “My experiences amuse me when results of scholars’ researches and theories match with my hands on experiences. Being a Science person I am logical and conclude reasonably. I do not only respect people around me but the environment and resources also. I have a clear vision about cross curricular impacts of education. As a teacher I maintain a comfortable, congenial classroom environment for my students and value their emotions so I seldom come across any behavioural issues and this enhances the learning of my students also. I enjoy my work so I don’t get tired and yes, I never compromise on the quality of my work".

80% attendance is compulsory to sit for all internal & external examinations. Students are required to come to school in neat, smart and proper winter uniform / shoes / hair cut. Students are required to wear the Sports Kit and White joggers only on the day they have their P.E Visiting hours for parents are from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. To avoid any inconvenience, a prior appointment must be made. Please note that mobile phones with cameras are strictly prohibited in the school. The first morning bell will be sounded at 7:55 a.m. and the school gates will close at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Gate No. 3 will not open before 2:00 p.m. Please do not leave your child outside the gate, once it is closed.
