2016-17 From the Head’s Desk Dear parents, By the grace of Allah, we have come to the end of a vibrant first term. I would like to thank you for providing support and encouragement through your suggestions, concerns and feedback. It has encouraged us to remain committed to our goal of developing our students into responsible and globally aware citizens. This term was a blend of dynamic curricular and co-curricular activities. We feel proud as we refer to our students' outstanding performance in intra schools competitions like Junior Games as well as their participation in international events like Kangaroo Math, Science, Linguistic and HRCA contests.We have encouraged our students to actively participate in Students clubs as we firmly believe that activities like these help them in building new friendships, enhance academics and explore new opportunities. As an active member of student organization, our students have learnt important leadership and management skills. Our students showcased their brilliant talents in open days and assembly presentations. Various Educational trips, coupled with relevant lesson objectives and field experience, have left a lasting impression on their learning. To ensure continuation of a meaningful teaching and learning process, we have focused on professional development of our teachers. Training sessions have been arranged to facilitate lesson planning and implementation and to cater to students with special needs effectively. Teachers are also integrating modern technology to develop confident and bright learners. Together we can, and will provide all opportunities to our students to excel in all spheres of life. Moment of Pride: 1. Intra Branch Wordle Competition :
A proud moment for BPC K&P as it stood 3rd in the final round of "Intra Branch Wordle Competition". We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our participants Fahad Bilal, Asadullah Rizwan and Muhammad Umer of Class V along with their parents. 2. HRCA Science and English Quiz: Our branch crossed another milestone by setting a precedent through the hard work and dedication of our shining stars. Yet another feather has been added to the crown, as our students have secured an outstanding result in the HRCA Science and English quiz. HEX ( Hubs of Excellence ) Our experienced teacher Shazia Wahid was presented an award for being an AST in HEX (Hubs of Excellence), a school based teachers' training programme. 5. International Kangaroo Science Contest (IKSC) 2016 . Our students showed their growing inclination towards attaining scientific knowledge by appearing in International Kangaroo Science Contest(IKSC). We proudly share the result of International Kangaroo Science Contest(IKSC) 2016 . Our students Ezzah Nadeem Of Class IV and Bakhtawar Baluch of Class 1I won Bronze medals for the school.

Urban and Rural localities:
We, the Animals
“The future belongs to the curious.The ones who try it, explore it, question it and turn it inside out.” An open day was organized by Class-II which was based on their Social Studies lesson of Urban and Rural localities. Students compared and analyzed both localities through role plays, projects and discussions. It was a fun filled day for students.
We, the Animals BPC K & P arranged a project work on 10th November 2016, on the theme, "We, the Animals"to assert the significance of saving animal kingdom. The purpose was to reiterate profound impact of animals on the overall health of ecosystem and our lives. The students of Class III enthusiastically participated in the following activities thereby fulfilling the purpose of the theme. Talking about Birds through their bird diaries. Urdu Role Play on Allama Iqbal's Poem " Makraaur Makhi". Discussion Forum on Animal Rights. English Tableau on Endangered species. A walk around the pets to show care & affection.
The first round of HRCA English & Science Quiz 2016th 17 was held on November 15 , 2016. This quiz provided a chance to the students to explore their hidden talents and to showcase their creativity. The syllabus booklets were provided to help students meet the challenge.
Intra-group Online competitions of Class I and II Class 1 Intra-group competition 2016 was conducted using “Neighbourhood Map Machine”. The students had to compete with other BSS branches in the third round scheduled on 25th November 2016. Congratulations to all the winners and best of luck for the next round! “Old and New Era" “One of the major advantages of project work is that it makes school more like real life.” Education researcher Sylvia Chard BPC K & P hosted a Project work for grade IVs and Vs on 25th November,2016. The theme of the day was "Old and New Era". Activities were organized that included role plays, projects, IT projects and quizzes. Students enjoyed explaining their projects and role plays. The objective of the event was to give students a chance to express themselves confidently.
HRCA Science and English Competition 2016:
International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest 2016: The International Kangaroo Linguistic contest was successfully conducted on November 18th, 2016. Young linguists of Class I - V participated in IKLC (International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest). Students exhibited a competitive show of good comprehension skills. This contest added to their exposure, bringing together linguistic pedagogical experience from a number of countries and aiming to promote good communication which is crucial for thriving in today´s world.

Iqbal Day: Iqbal Day was celebrated to pay tribute to the great thinker and to highlight his contributions in creation of Pakistan. Students communicated his enlightened views in different ways. Students of the class IV prepared a role play on the famous poem “Parinday ki Faryad ”. Allama Iqbal's poems were also recited. The most interesting and much appreciated part was the “Mushaira”. School choir also sang beautiful poems of Allama Iqbal.

Beaconhouse Potohar campus K & P held an Investiture Ceremony for Student Council 2016th 2017 on November 4 , 2016. Mrs. Samira Agha, (Senior Head Mistress Potohar Chapter) graced the occasion as the chief guest. The council members took their oath of office. The head boy and head girl shared their views with the guests. The Presidents, Vice Presidents for various societies, Deputy Head girl, Deputy head boy, Head Boy and Head Girl were presented with sashes. We wish all our elected members the best and hope they continue to shine in their assigned roles throughout their tenure, leading by example.
“Leadership is not about the next election, it's about the next generation”. Simon Sinek Student council elections were held on 2nd November, 2016 to inculcate a sense of leadership and responsibility. Students of classes IV and V were nominated for the posts of Head boy, Head girl, Deputy Head boy, Deputy Head girl, Sports President and Vice President. The selection was made on the basis of their academic record. They delivered convincing speeches, made badges and put up their posters on the specified area, as a part of their campaign. Students of classes III, IV and V were eligible to vote. Voting was done electronically and the results were announced by the end of the day. The Presidents and Vice Presidents of English, Urdu, Music, Games, Art and craft societies were selected through interviews by panel of teachers, HM. Mrs. Ayesha Dogar and SM. Mrs. HinaZahoor.
The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives. Robert Maynard Hutchins In order to discuss the academic progress of the students, Parent-Teacher Meeting was organised on th October 15 , 2016 for all levels. The parents appreciated the hard work and efforts of the faculty and administration. They also filled forms in which they gave feedback about their child's performance and the teacher's effort.

Global Dignity Day:
BSS Birthday Beaconhouse turned 41 on November 4th, 2016. The celebrations began with a heartwarming speech by Headmistress Ayesha Dogar in a wonderful assembly. Some senior teachers were invited on the stage to share their experiences with the students. Class V Blue presented a role play.The school choir presented songs. Different classes engaged in various activities such as essays, card preparation, speeches and poetry on the topics of "Beaconhouse, School of Tomorrow".. Chocolates and a cake cutting ceremony made the day even sweeter.
“In a Global World, we should all be citizens, with Dignity having no nationality". Beaconhouse equally stresses on students' moral development and academic excellence. Global Dignity day is one such occasion and as always, our students celebrated the day with great zeal and excitement. Students were involved in different activities throughout the day focusing on the lesson of dignity. Students participated in arranging lunch for our support staff and presented flowers to them. Other activities included: ∙ Making dignity sign by early years and primary
students. ∙ Gifts in the form of books, toys and eatables were
brought for SOS village. ∙ A“DignityWall" was set up in the school and dignity pledges were pasted on the wall. ∙ Dignity Walk within the school premises, was arranged by our students to spread awareness.
Orientation Sessions
International Peace Day
Oliver who would not Sleep:
Orientation Sessions were planned in the month of September. Parents were warmly welcomed during the Orientation session and were informed about academic themes and philosophy of Beaconhouse School System. An insight about the school rules, assessment system, sports and other activities, was also provided by the class and subject teachers in the school library. It was an opportunity for all the parents to learn about their child's routine, academic expectations, upcoming activities and curriculum. In the end there was a question and answer session.

Storytelling sessions, lullabies, hot chocolate milk and nap time.....The K.G's had their "Pajama Party"! Students came in their sleeping suits holding comfort toys in their hands. The activity was held in accordance with the unit“Up and Away” and the reader “Oliver who would not Sleep”. Teachers transformed the class environment into a night time scene using lamps and thick blinds. Mobiles could also be seen hanging from the fans showing night time creatures. Students listened to bedtime stories and sang lullabies with their teachers. It was followed by a group task of sorting the pajamas according to the colours. They also used relevant vocabulary to compare their sleeping suits with that of the character in the story. Children enjoyed every part of the day especially when the H.M. Mrs. Ayesha Dogar came in for a story telling session that kept the children mesmerized.
International Peace Day was observed on September 24th 2016.The day began with a special assembly that focused on the importance of peace and how through small gestures, care and kind words, peace can be established in our world. Students prepared special posters and wrote poems to spread the message of love, unity and harmony.
Defense Day Celebrations Pakistan Defense Day was observed with a special assembly on 6th September'16. The students displayed zeal and fervor to pay homage and tribute to the great soldiers of Pakistan Army, who rendered great sacrifices in defense of their motherland. Students shared information about historical importance of the day to infuse a spirit of patriotism. The day started with recitation from the Holy Quran along with its translation and later on a role play was presented. To keep the spirits up and alive, students of class two red paid tribute to the brave forces of Pakistan by singing national songs and shared the information about the great martyrs of 1965 war in the special morning assembly.
International “Eat an Apple Day”: International “Eat an egg day” Early years celebrated the International Egg day on October, 27th 2016. Importance of eating an egg daily was emphasized through fun filled activities like eating snacks made of eggs and preparing costumes.
I have a Little red and round. On a tree it is found. If you take a bite You will see Just how tasty it will be! International Apple Day was celebrated by Preth Nurseries on 28 October,16. The best way to celebrate is right there in the name,'Eat an apple!' The students brought and tasted snacks prepared with apples and spent the day with fun filled activities like apple pasting and photo mania! Later they discussed the healthy benefits of eating an apple.
Junior Games 2016-17 nd
(2 round) Class I Junior Games 2016-17(2nd round) of Grade I event "Dodge the ball" was played between BPCK&P and PWD which was held at PWD on 27th October'16. Students got good exposure by playing in an enthusiastic environment. A special thanks to HM BPCK&P Ayesha Dogar for taking time out of her busy schedule to encourage and support her students.
Junior Games 2016-17 ( 2nd round) Class V BPCK&P organized "Junior Games 2016-17� on 27th October'16. It included second round of cricket matches for Boys and girls of Grade V. Another victorious day for our branch, Congratulations Class 5 (boys team) for winning JUNIOR GAMES Round 2 of Cricket Match against F/10-1 Branch. We wish you all the very best for the upcoming matches. Cheers! BPCK&P Boys played first, and scored 94 runs with the loss of6 wickets. On the other hand F/10-1 Boys scored 68 runs with 8 wickets so BPCK&P won by 26 runs. For Girls Cricket match, F/10-1 Girls played first and gave a target of 38 runs. BPCK&P scored 36 runs. F/10-1 Girls won by one run.
Educational Trip of Class KG and Class II Class 2 and K.G. went on an Educational trip to Ayub st Park on 21 October'16. They observed different animals and birds. They enjoyed a picnic at the end of the fun filled day.

(2 round) Class III Our students participated in ' Foot ball match� against Beaconhouse Newlands team on Thursday October 26th ,2016 as a part of Junior Games 201617. We proudly announce that our team won the match to proceed to the next round of the Games . Our Heartiest Congratulation to the winning team!
Educational Trip of Class 1 Class I went to an educational trip to "Jungle Kingdom" in Ayub Park on 26th October'16. This trip was related to their Science unit "Humans and other animals". They enthusiastically explored the wild life and spent a day full of excitement and joy.
Independence Day is observed annually to commemorate freedom, unity, and prosperity. BPC K & P also celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and passion on August 26th,20'16. Special Assembly was organized. Students wore Independence Day bands, badges and caps. The well-organized presentations, including songs, pledges and speeches evoked a feeling of patriotism in everybody present at the event. The entire school was decorated with flags and everyone dressed up in green and white signifying the flag of Pakistan. Students sang National songs to show love and affection for their beloved country. They hoisted the flag of Pakistan to express their joy. The day was followed by several related activities in the classrooms as well.

Teachers' Day was celebrated in full swing at BPC K&P on 7th October'16. The H.M Mrs. Ayesha Dogar and the administration hosted a cake cutting ceremony with lunch. Certificates with titles were given to all of the staff and teachers to appreciate their untiring efforts. It proved to be a morale boosting and inspiring event for the teachers. The day ended with the hopes of an eventful academic year ahead.
International Kangaroo Science Competition: Our students participated in the International th Ka n ga ro o S c i e n c e C o m p e t i t i o n o n 2 9 September'16. It was a valuable learning opportunity for them. The questions were challenging and thought provoking, based on everyday Science and observation. Our students attempted the test with confidence, showing a lot of interest and enthusiasm. Such activities promote logical and critical thinking, which is an integral part of developing 21st century thinkers.
Sports inculcate creativity, analytical skills, teamwork and critical thinking in children. BPC K & P organized its Annual Sports Day on 10th December 2016 themed “ Together We Stand”. The ambience created by the school supported the theme. Mrs. Samira Agha Senior Headmistress Potohar Chapter, MPA. Ijaz Ul Haq, a well known politician and Pakistani Cricketer Sohail Tanvir graced the event with their presence. Sports Day began with the march past. All the children were dressed up in a variety of costumes and got a chance to display their sports talents to their full potential . Creative Yoga, Races for both children and parents, Displays and Gymnastics presentation captivated the audience. Thematic displays by all the levels were appreciated by the audience. Parents eagerly watched their children participating brilliantly, they marveled at each and every event. A big applause for the staff, participating children and parents for making it a truly memorable and joyous event
World Space Week at Institute of Space Technology: Students of classes IV and V attended World Space Week at Institute of Space Technology on 20th October'16. The main purpose of the visit was to sharpen their reasoning ability and to enhance their knowledge. Students observed aerospace instruments and machines which were displayed in the gallery. They also took ideas from different labs, innovative models and projects related to space. Students also had the experience of going in the planetarium.
National Geographic Explorer thrills students at BPC: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” – Saint Augustine Children of Class II learnt about Continents and Oceans from Mr. Simon, who is a member of the National Geographic Team. He shared valuable experience of his trip through different continents. The children met him with enthusiasm and participated in a very informative Question and Answer session. The visit ended with some wonderful camping sing along.

Energy Conservation Week: Students were encouraged to come up with different ways to save energy to avoid energy shortage in future. They came up with pretty good ideas. Later they made posters for public awareness and presented role plays in the morning assembly.

End of Term Party: BPC K&P celebrated end of the term by throwing a party to students on 23 r d December'16. It was the most awaited and eminent refreshing activity for students after the hectic routine of their exams. Students were immensely excited. Their trendy colourful winter outfits were adding ambiance. Students had merriment with their teachers and class fellows. It was a day of sharing and enjoying. It was what a fantastic end to a productive and constructive term
An interactive meeting took place in our branch on Thursday, 17th November,2016 which was conducted by Mrs. Ayesha Shabbir (School Group Head SGO-3), Mrs. Samira Agha (Senior Headmistress Potohar campus) and Mrs. Ayesha Dogar (HM-BPC K & P ) along with Mrs. Hina Zahoor (SM-BPC K & P ). It was a detailed session and parental queries, suggestions and concerns were addressed by the administration. Parents appreciated the initiatives taken by the school administrationand teachers to benefit every student.
Animals around us Class I organized project” Animals around us” on 17th November,2016. It showcased their pet animals and students talked about their habits and habitats. This activity taught them about compassion and empathy. They participated enthusiastically in role plays, projects and displays.

Pre-Eid Activities were held a day before the Eid-ul-Azha holidays for the students. BPC K & P had a special function regarding the significance of Eid ul Azha. The program started with the name of Allah .Children had prepared role plays and the students discussed some important facts . They also told the story of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail. Students also shared their personal experiences of Eid celebration which enhanced their confidence level.
