It ignites great pleasure and satisfaction in me to share with you the accomplishments and achievements of our students during this term. We need to recognize, appreciate, applaud and foster the fine blend of sensibility and creativity in a child. This school attains its eminence in the first place through the achievements of our students and which has been given enough print space in this issue of the newsletter. HM’s Note: Dear Parents, Happy New Year! Time just flies! Here we are announcing the commencement of 2nd term. First term proved to be a happening term indeed. We strongly believe in providing equal opportunities to all the students and celebrate their accomplishments. BSS-J is a complete experience for students, as the school not only caters to the academic needs, it also lets them explore the wide vistas of co-curricular activities and in the true sense we are catering the holistic view of education. These activities prepare students to face the future challenges and help to build character because for us Education is way more than simply teaching the subject content.
BSSJ is moving forward and progressing in both co- and extracurricular fronts, as today we are very much visible in all sporting events at the international and regional level. I would like to congratulate all the hard working teachers and students of session 2015-16 on producing excellent O Level, A level and Matric results. I would like to extend my appreciation to all the students bringing laurels to BSSJ through their achievements in extra and Co-curricular activities. I wish you all the best. Independence Day Celebrations at Jhelum Campus Nations celebrate National Days to celebrate and rejoice the fruits of freedom and progress. 69th Independence Day was celebrated at Beaconhouse School System, Jhelum campus with great zeal, zest and fervour. The whole Campus was beautifully decorated with green and white balloons. The vibrance of these colours had doubled the beauty of the school. All the students along with the faculty members had also dressed up green and white to mark the day.

Celebration of Defence Day - 2016 1965 War features as an important milestone in the history of Pakistan. A war which was imposed on Pakistan by a coward enemy in the dark hours of September 1965, ended in our favour and enemy was kept short of her objectives.
A number of different activities were planned for the day including face painting and poster making competition. A singing competition was also arranged for classes 6 to A levels. Students from various classes participated in the competition and sang national songs with zeal and passion. Winners of the competition were: VIII Red 1st = Sidra batool nd 2 = Muhammad Qasim A Levels 3rd = Mashaf Majeed Janjua XI C The celebrations of the day ended with a message from the school Senior Master that 14th August may be an ordinary day of English Calendar for the rest of the world, but it holds immense importance in the life of every Pakistani and is considered as the most remarkable day in the history of Pakistan.

In order to keep spirit of 1965 alive, a grand assembly was organized by the students. Later in the day, a speech competition was organized where the students rememberd our brave soldiers and their sacrifices. Students from O levels participated to show their passion for Pakistan and to pay tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our great future. They spoke for 2-3 minutes with enthusiasm on the topic ‘I too am a defender of my country’. The winners of the competition were as following:
Elections for Students’ Council – 2016 Students’ Council is a representative body from within students that assists school management and faculty in day to day activities. Selection of the council was done through a paper free election system and it was the fifth year since BSSJ has been successful in conducting these elections. Elections were conducted for the posts of Head Girl, Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy.

Orientation Meeting – 2016-17 It was quite refreshing to feel the touch of new session 2016-17 when teachers of Beaconhouse School System ,Jhelum Campus welcomed their guests at Orientation Meeting on September 6th & 7th , 2016. It was an event intended to acquaint the parents with different dimensions of curriculum, pattern of formative and summative assessments and forecast of the coming session. Feeling the importance of the activity, invitation was extended to all parents. It was a well-attended event that was formalized and systematically planned to educate the parents.
This year, elections for Students’ Council were held on 9th September 2016. Students were given a week’s time for their campaigning which included speeches, display of banners and student to student interaction. A body of teachers acted as Election Commission whereas voting was done in extremely fair environment to educate children about essence of true democratic values.
The rest of the student body was selected through a long and tedious process of short listing through nomination forms and later filtered through arduous interviews.

Teachers Day 5th October is observed as Teachers Day each year. Maintaining the spirit of the day, this year, students of Beaconhouse School System , Jhelum Campus surprised faculty members by managing celebrations of Teachers Day during morning assembly. Dignity Day Panel Discussion Every year, anticipation dawns upon Beaconhouse School Jhelum, as we commemorate world Dignity Day in October. Keeping up with its traditions BSSJ celebrated Dignity Day with much zeal and fervor. A panel discussion was held on the meanings, values and importance of dignity in our life which was moderated by Mustafa Aman. The honourable panelists Iqra Muneeb, Noor Fatima, Moiz Sial, Ms Naheed Amjad, Ms Wajiha Shakil, Ms Mehvish Rehman and Ms Amna Waqas shared their perspectives respectively.

Role Play A memorable assembly was organized in order to celebrate Teachers Day where students came up with their gratitude towards their mentors. English Club presented a role play to pay tribute to the real heroes who sacrifice their today for our tomorrow.

Urdu Role play Students from A level performed an Urdu Role Play emphasising the value of being a dignified citizen.
Parlimentary Debate A Level students from BSSJ participated in a hotly contested parliamentary debate. The two teams, comprising of AS and A Level students respectively, offered their thoughts on the topic: “Knowledge is power, but nothing speaks louder than money.” Both teams articulated their points of view with commendable eloquence, and offered solid opinions on the divisive topic.
International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest (IKLC) IKLC (International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest)a contest that provides an excellent incentive to school children worldwide for making efforts to refine their skills in English was held in Beaconhouse The AS team (Muhammad Wasiq Wasim, Mustafa Aman, Khadija Salman, Ayesha Wasim and Muhammad Shahzaib) won the battle. Mustafa Aman of AS was declared as ‘Best Speaker’.
Dignity Logo Global Dignity Day was celebrated in Beaconhouse School System , Jhelum with much zeal and fervour on Friday, 14th October 2016. The day began with a morning assembly where the Dignity representative gave a brief speech followed by an Urdu role play and a panel discussion. Later in the day, a parliamentary debate was organized for A levels students. A long and busy day came to an end with the most interesting event of the day where the students gathered around the dignity sign etched on the ground to make the Dignity Logo.

IBIC(International Bebras Informatics Contest) was held in Beaconhouse School System ,Jhelum Campus on 8th December,2016. It is a competition aimed at raising awareness of computer science in a fun and rewarding way. The competition involves solving problems using computational skills and plays an important role as a source of inspiration.

Carnival for a cause On October 31st, 2016 students of A level arranged ‘Carnival for a Cause’. The sole purpose of conducting this event was to spread blooms of happiness on the underprivileged members of the society. The A level management society decorated the school with colourful banners and posters. Students participated in different activities such as jail, bird blast, knock out, tug of war but the most favourite of all was, The Haunted House where
global perspectives orientation Beaconhouse School System Jhelum arranged an orientation session for parents to announce a new course “Global Perspectives (2069)” offered by Cambridge O Levels. It was an event intended to students kept on waiting in queues to experience the horror and terror. The Jail was also the most enjoyable act of the day as students could imprison anyone, whether it be any teacher or even the HM. Food Stalls along with face painting stalls were also setup. All in all, the day was full of activities and it turned out to be a huge success for the A levels society as they managed to collect a sum of more than Rs. 80 000.

High Achievers Ceremony A much awaited and anticipated event was hosted at BSSJ on 4th November. A large number of parents flooded the school premises to witness a graceful ceremony held in the honour of students for successful completion of academic year on June 6th, 2016.
Oath Taking And Graduation Ceremony On 18th November, 2016, the oath taking and graduation ceremony was held at Beaconhouse School System, Jhelum. The student body for the year 2016-2017 vowed to serve the school impartially and dedicatedly, in the presence of chief guests Mrs.Ayesha Shabbir,School Group Head
(SGO III) and Mrs. Rahat Agha, Academic Manager (SGO III). Students from classes 1 to A Levels were designated various duties, ranging from Head Boy to prefects. The oath taking was followed by a stellar beat boxing performance by AS student Abdul Hameed, which was ubiquitously praised by the audience. The graduation ceremony began shortly thereafter, honoring the O and A level

Parents Teacher Meeting Parent-teacher meetings are a regular feature at Beaconhouse to keep parents updated about their children’s academic performance. In this term too, parent-teacher meetings were held at all levels from Pre-Nursery to A- Levels. To cater the needs

Sundas Foundation is the pioneer in voluntary healthy blood transfusion service in Gujranwala division. BSSJ students successfully completed 2 days activity with Sundas Foundation who is treating the patients free of cost. Students took much interest in getting the relevant information.
They interacted with the patients as well as staff members. Students observed the procedure of blood donation, blood preservation, blood group identification, white cells observation, blood plasma, blood transfusion and also learnt about the precautionary measures. After successful completion of the activity students donated twenty thousand as charity to Sundas Foundation.

Olympiad 2K16 This year the diligent students of A Levels organised and hosted their second edition the of Olympiad 2K16. The three-day event began with nail-biting Futsal matches followed by Basketball and Table Tennis matches. The event also included- ACCA Popcorn search, Minute to win it, X-Box and Chess competitions.
Futsal and Basketball finals were held on the second day followed by a power packed ‘Beat the Bhangra’ competition.BSSJ grabbed the trophy in Futsal whereas Gujrat team won the Basketball, Table Tennis and Bhangra competitions. The event was attended by participants from different

Beaconhouse Certificate in Teaching (BCT), is a two years training programme, which is designed to help teachers acquire theoretical knowledge and apply that for enhanced learning of the students. Cambridge Certification Cambridge International Examination (CIE) conducts subject-based trainings for teachers so they can guide students who are taking O and A Level subjects. These trainings are conducted by international trainers who are mostly CIE examiners. Summer School Abroad This summer our student Usama Waleed got selected for the USEFP’s tour to USA. The program aims to provide high school students with an American college classroom, campus, and city culture experience. The three-week summer program spanned seven different schools across Iowa, Indiana and Illinois, and exposed students to a large variety of potential career paths and the academic environment of American university

Road Safety walk:
Eid Milan party was celebrated on 20th September, 2016 Students added colours to the event dressed up in their Eid attire. They revived the spirit of Eid by sharing their lunch with their classmates. Different games were played inside and outside the classroom to make the day even more joyful.
Red color day : Early years celebrated (P-NSY , NSY, KG) Red color day on 30th Sep, 2016. Students of 11C participated in road safety walk organized by Highway Police at Tulip Hotel Jhelum. The main aim of this activity was to give awareness to the students regarding road safety and driving measures.
Ey And Primary Section Welcome back to school: The students and teachers were dressed in red clothes as Red color expresses leadership qualities, and promotes ambition and determination. Early years classrooms were decorated with red objects. Activities related to red colour were conducted throughout the day and children went back home with their red colored take aways.
Teachers Day :
The day was organized on 22nd of August 2016, with fun filled activities. Teachers of Early Years planned various activities for the day. Lovely giveaways and goody bags were given to the students. Students met different cartoon characters which made the day even more memorable.

Yellow color day : Early years celebrated Yellow Colour Day on 31st Oct, 2016. The specialty of yellow is that yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. On this day, a special morning assembly was conducted and students from each class came on the stage for ‘Show and Tell’ and described their

Healthy Living (A session with a Dentist): A session with the dentist Dr. Wajeeha Baig was held for classes I, II, III on 07th of October 2016. It was arranged in order to bring awareness about healthy living and taking care of their teeth.

Bunny’s Birthday Party : Students of Pre-Nursery arranged a birthday party of their favorite toy ‘Bunny’ on 25th of November, 16. They blew up the balloons and lit the candles. Later the students were served with yummy cupcakes which were then shared with other classes as well as junior staff. Moreover a present was also given to the Bunny and party games were played. Indeed it was a fun filled day.
Welcome winter day was celebrated on 9th December 2016. Students of early years were dressed in winter outfits e.g. jackets, gloves, coats etc. Special morning assembly was conducted in which they sang season song. They also ate different types of dry fruits and nuts to keep themselves warm in the chilling weather.
