Message of the month Dear Parents, This month students will be introduced to a new theme that is “Animals.” During this month students will be involved in a variety of activities through which they will get to know about the different types of animals e.g. pet, wild, farm and sea animals. Students will be given awareness about the skin types and patterns of animals i.e. (stripes, spots, patches), their habitats, the food they eat, their young ones and how to take care of animals through a variety of interesting activities. The theme of this month will provide an opportunity to the students to indulge into dramatic roleplay activities which will offer them a chance to learn about the characteristics of animals. While going through different theme based activities students will be given opportunities to get involved in discussion. During this month the students will go through an interesting story book “The Big Red Bath", through which they will get to know about the different types of Animals .

Personal, Social, Health & Emotional Education Students will be given awareness about the following through circle time activities.     

 

Recitation of Tauz,Tasmiya and first Kalima with their Urdu and English translations. Name of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Holy Book. Importance of adopting healthy habits. Discussion about taking care of teeth. Importance of cleaning hands and using floss before and after meal. Following the steps involved in cleaning hands. Importance of table manners.

Mathematical Development Students will be given awareness about the following:  reinforcement of numerals 1-7  introduction of number 8  Sequencing of numbers 1-5  concept of what comes before and after of a particular number.  counting how many objects in a set.  reinforcement of on and under,infront and behind, day and night.

Creative Development (Art) Students will explore and gain competency in using a variety of techniques:  painting ,gluing and pasting while making animal masks.  drawing a mini zoo.  cutting and folding paper while making a butterfly.

ETHICS:  Importance of being kind to others.  Importance of respecting all religions.

Communication, Language & Literacy  

recognizing the sounds r, m, and d. linking sounds of s,a,t,i,p,n,c,k,e,h,r,m and d with their relevant vocabulary.  hearing and relating the phonemes (at the beginning, middle and ending position of words).  raising and answering simple questions from story “The Big Red Bath”.  Use of language and vocabulary related with naming and associating objects.  holding a writing tool using an efficient grip.  begin to use clockwise /anticlockwise movement and trace shapes, lines and letter sounds.  reading of three letter words: /c-a-t/,/m-a-t/,/h-a-t/,/r-a-t//h-e-n/, /p-e-n/,/m-e-n/,/t-e-n/,/d-o-g/,/d-i-g/.

Knowledge & Understanding of the World

Physical Development

Students will be given awareness through interactive activities about the following:  Identification of pet, wild and farm animals.  Discussion about animals and the food they eat.  Identification of animals and their habitats.  Identification of animals and their young ones.  Discussion about skin types and patterns on animals body.

Students will develop the skills of control over movements, speed, sense of distance and direction through:  running, walking ,hopping, jumping and crawling.  balancing using different body parts.  twisting, bending and stretching while doing exercises.  travelling around under, over, along and through balancing & climbing equipments .
