his summer, a friend of the Frisco Humane Society witnessed 8week-old Paxton, his brother and mom being tossed from a moving car as she drove along a country road to work one morning. Unfortunately, she was used to seeing abandoned dogs along the side of the road, and as she pulled to a stop, they ran towards her with tails wagging. All three were friendly but covered in mange and needed immediate medical attention. After a few long months of treatment, these pug-mix brothers were mange-free and ready for adoption. They were happy, playful puppies, and it didn’t take long for both of them to find their forever homes. Paxton is now a permanent member of the Deering family. Matt and Kanya Deering of Frisco consider themselves “dog people.” Their first dog, Petey, lived to be 11 years old. When they lost him about a year ago, it took several months to mourn before they were ready for a new pet. But when the time was right, they knew what they were looking for in a new family dog – fun, active and good with their kids Logan and Maddy, now 7 and 3, respectively. “I had found Pax searching through the

Frisco Humane Society website,” Kayna Deering said. “We had made the decision to adopt after seeing just how many animals were looking for homes. I preferred a puppy so the bonding would be easier, and he/she could grow with the kids.” It’s been a few months now, and Pax has adjusted well. “He loves his belly rubs,” Kanya Deering said. “His go-to move is to run up to you and roll over on his back looking for that belly rub first thing every morning.” Pax has been the perfect dog for the kids. They have especially taken to him and love to play with him. Logan even calls him brother. Pax is doing great as a Deering and adds so much to the family.
