COMMUNITY PROGRAMS (ADULT) - SPRING
“A TASTE OF ART BEAUMONT” (16+ ADULT)
Join us for various types of art brought to you by local professionals, and instructors of the Artists Association of Beaumont! All of these classes are workshop formats, so you can pick and choose which ones you would like to experience! Unless otherwise stated, supplies will be provided for all classes.
BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY
Learn how to photograph the many bird species that transit and nest in and around Beaumont. In this series of 3 classes you will learn the do’s and don’ts of bird photography, discuss gear required, and learn valuable tips and tricks to help you get your shots! There will be a 2 hour instructor led photo walk, location to be determined during class and weather dependent, in the Beaumont area (up to 30 minute drive) to practice your skills. The last class will be a chance to show some of the pictures you captured, gain feedback, and ask any follow up questions. DSLR recommended with telephoto lens or camera with telephoto capabilities. GARDEN PHOTOGRAPHY
In this workshop you will learn and practice many different techniques and tricks to bring out the best in your garden photography. Whether it’s the flowers, landscapes, macro subjects, bugs, wildlife, or all of the above that catch your eye, our professional photographer instructor will show you how you can make your images shine. This course will involve multiple photo walks to practice what you are learning and give multiple opportunities for feedback and help, including a photo walk at the St. Albert Botanical Garden on a weekend where you can practice all you have learned. Beginner to intermediate photographers with a basic understanding of their camera welcome. Please bring your camera and manual with you to all classes.

ABSTRACT PHOTOGRAPHY
In this 4 week, 5 class workshop you will learn and practice how to use camera motion to make impressionist and expressionist abstract photography. Practicing on a variety of subjects including nature, architecture, people, and still life you will learn and practice multiple techniques for making painterly style photographs. At least two photowalks will be part of the class and there will be multiple opportunities to ask questions and gain feedback. This class is for intermediate photographers who have a knowledge of their camera and the exposure triangle (shutter speed, aperture, and ISO). Please bring your camera and manual to each class. Equipment/gear questions can be forwarded via email to the instructor prior to class.

PHOTOGRAPHY – DIGITAL SLR BASICS
If you have a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses and want to learn the basics of setting it up and taking great photos without feeling overwhelmed, then this hands-on workshop is for you! We will go over details of the important settings on your camera as well as best practices for taking care of your camera. OIL PAINTINGS BASIC WORKSHOP
In this fun multi-week workshop you will learn while you paint, the basics of how to work with oil paints. Learn techniques of blending and layering colours to create intensity and luminosity. Make some new friends and share in the joy of learning the basics of painting. At the end you will take home 2 of your own works of art! MINDS IN MOTION©
Minds in Motion is a program designed for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia to enjoy with a friend, family member, or care partner. The program combines physical activity and mental stimulation in a social environment. BABYSITTER SAFETY COURSE (11-15 YEARS OLD)
Get ready to be the best-prepared babysitter on the block! You will learn techniques for handling emergency situations such as bleeding, choking, treatment for burns, poisoning, wounds and artificial respiration. Participants will receive manuals and a certificate upon successfully completing the course. STUNNING MAD SCIENCE (6 – 12 YEARS OLD)
Mad Science is back this spring to bring your child an hour of learning about science in a safe environment. Kids will explore a variety of introductory topics about the wonders of both life and physical sciences. As a junior scientist, they will learn about lights, sound, magnets, nutrition and much more for 8 weeks. ENGINEERING FOR KIDS JR. ROBOTICS (4-6 YEARS OLD)
The Jr. Robotics curriculum is designed to introduce students to the concepts of robotics, automation, programming, and the Engineering Design Process. Robotics 101 program is designed to introduce students to both robot building as well as programming. The students will build robots with Lego to accomplish a specific task while using their imagination to make their robot better than the basic robot. YOUNG ARTISTS OF BEAUMONT (7-13 YEARS OLD)
With an eye to promoting self-expression through art, this course uses basic mediums of pencils, crayons, pastels, charcoal and water colour to allow students to develop their creativity. They are taught some of the basics of shapes and form, drawing, colour mixing, and perspective. Separate projects will utilize different means to create individualize masterpieces to further the experience throughout the classes. 7-10 Years Old

Our experienced instructor will lead the class through an Introduction to Theatre. Children will have the amazing opportunity to be part of a short play/performance that incorporates all elements of theatre including acting, movement, costumes, props and much, much more! This class will introduce them to the fundamentals of theatre, acting and improvisation in a fun, informal non-pressured environment.
