to feel like a failure if I do not achieve everything that I want to, so it is very important to be as realistic as possible when creating your goals. 2. Set a deadline. Once you know what you want to achieve, set a time frame of when you want to reach that goal. If you do not set a deadline, you may end up working on your goals for years.

#Goals Set them, Keep them

3. Be specific. Set a goal for each area of your life - health, relationships, work, and personal growth. Use as much detail as possible in deciding what you want to accomplish in each area. 4. Believe in yourself. One of the biggest reasons that people do not complete their goals

is because they do not believe in themselves. 5. Don’t stop. Once you start working towards your New Years goals, keep moving. If you stop, you are likely not to pick it up again. Remember, if you want to see some change in your life, you are going to have to take the necessary steps. Things do not just happen because you wish upon a star. Set some goals for the New Year and if you are feeling brave, tell someone about them to keep you accountable. Share it with us (bringingbeautifulback@gmail.com) and we will post them in February’s issue. Go set some goals!!

However, I am a big goal setter and I have quite a few goals set for this new year.

As the new year begins, we are encouraged to make New Years Resolutions. The resolutions often go a little like this: buy a year long gym membership, use it twice in the beginning of January and throw money away for the next 11 months. Pointless!! I have actually never been into making New Years resolutions because I have seen how unsuccessful they are for other people.

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to set some goals. If you would rather set goals and successfully achieve them this new year, stick to these 5 simple steps: 1. Be realistic. Set goals that you know you can achieve. I tend to be a little too ambitious when I am setting my goals. This can cause me

There’s An App for That

Tasting Travel

SoCal

By Courtney Mack

Traveling is a huge part of my job. With traveling, I have the chance to explore, eat and enjoy places all over. Instead of keeping this all to myself, I have a golden opportunity to share my experiences of travel. This is the birth of Tasting Travel. Some individuals may find travel challenging and others may find it thrilling. I find travel to be my daily routine, not so much trilling but unpredictable to say the least. As I get off the plane, heading to a new city, a hotel, an unknown friendly face, I am eager to go where the locals go. I am curious to find out what I will learn today, tomorrow, and the next. One area that is a must when I am on the road, is finding delicious places to eat. I am a bit obsessed with the idea of trying what is good, not so good, and just plain wrong. Every state and city has its own flare

17

of food, but my favorite would be Southern California. I am in awe of how rich the coloring of their crops are, how large their veggies grow to become due to the rich soil, and the demand for being consciously healthy. My first experience with Vietnamese soup, a.k.a. “Pho”, sushi burritos, and “In-N-Out” burgers – make that animal style – will always bring me back to California. These items may seem familiar to many now, but it was just a faint idea in the minds of east coast individuals not long ago. PHO: A generous amount of fresh veggies in a large bowl of broth will heal any homesick temperature. The east coast has been invaded with these restaurants and gladly so. Vietnamese restaurants are much healthier than Chinese restaurants due to all the natural spices they use. Make sure to go modern when wanting something oriental.

Sushi Burrito: If soup is not your fancy, then a sushi burrito may fill you up just as much. It’s a weird concept at first, but if you have had a Tex-Mex burrito in the past, you will begin to feel as though you should have thought of this genius idea! With tons of rice, a variety of seafood, and fresh veggies, you have yourself this two hand holding sushi roll for the taking. I find that they can be a bit pricey for what is given, but it’s a great lunch stop to experience. In-N-Out: I have shared many healthy tastings so far, making Cali sound like the best place for physically fit individuals. But let me not

lead you too far down that rabbit hole. Have you ever heard of a home grown, Cali owned, fast food place called “In-N-Out”? This place is extremely affordable for Cali residence and anyone for that fact. They offer animal style burgers and fries. Animal style is a heavy topping of thousand island dressing with sautéed onions. Only the best when splurging on calories and saving on cash. Let me leave your mouth watering with my three top eats in SoCal. Make sure to try at least one of them next time you drop into Cali. Until next month, happy eating, my friends!
