“T H E A V E R A G E margin of victory for the last 25 years in all major tournaments combined was less than three strokes – less than one stroke difference per day. From 2000 to 2004, the winner across all tournaments took home 76% more in prize dollars than the second place finisher.” – 212° The Extra Degree Have you made those small tweaks to your game so that you’ll come out on top by one stroke? Or by one point on the court? With the competition in full swing this winter and spring, be sure to get in as much practice as you can! A quick thirty minutes with one of the Club’s Golf or Tennis Pro’s could also help you to create “the extra degree” of competitive advantage so that you come out on top. Between the Club Championships, tennis round robins, Member-Guest tournaments and the upcoming WGA & MGA events, you’ll have plenty of chances to compete! For those looking for all fun and no games, we have some great social events coming up. If you’re tired of the standard

The Season is in Full Swing! The Most Popular Person on the Course As a new golfer, you have much information to acquire in addition to how to hit a golf ball and establishing low scores. We advise you to let your game and golf shot skills develop slowly. Do not put unnecessary stress on this development process and above all else, have fun! One very important aspect is to develop an awareness of your pace of play on the course. Pace of play simply means playing in a reasonable time frame and keeping up with the group that started play just ahead of your group. If you are able to establish this desired pace of play, you will become one of the most popular players on the golf course that day.

Sunsational Service Courtesy Award on Thursday, December 5. Thomas received the award from the President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau Nicki E. Grossman, in celebration of his hard-work and dedication of outstanding hospitality service. His father Don Osborne, taught Tommy how to play golf when he was 5 years old at the Old American Golf Course, where he was a teaching professional from 1969-1982. Tommy recalls his father made him a set of small clubs and would take him out on the driving range between teaching lessons. Tommy eventually was hired by Coral Ridge as a Golf Course Operator making $1.25 per hour, forty-four years ago! Tommy used to enjoy being a caddy for Toni Weisner, Robin Burke, Carol Semple Thompson and Member Connie Shorb in the Doherty Golf Tournaments. GOLF SEASON IS IN
full swing and it’s more important than ever to use proper golf cart etiquette. Continual cart traffic over the same area stresses the turf conditions. It’s always best to stay on the cart path whenever possible to help ensure the grass remains green and healthy. Please obey cart directional signs, ropes and posts while playing and park at least 30’ from the green or tee box. This rule applies to those who have been issued handicap flags as well. The entrance ways to the fairways are the most difficult areas to manage, so we have added ropes and small stakes to help direct the cart traffic. You may notice we move them every couple of days. After 7 to 10 days the areas that have been affected by excessive cart traffic should grow back. We appreciate your cooperation.

TIPS FROM THE PRO
Four Steps To Better Putts D O L P H
R O D E R
D I R E C T O R O F I N S T R U C T I O N
1. Make sure you line your ball up with your intended line. Then stand behind the ball to make sure the line is correct. 2. Take practice strokes looking at your target to find your feel for how much swing you will need to stroke the putt to your intended target. 3. Your body should be parallel to the line on your ball and the line on your putter should be lined up with the line on the ball. 4. Try and keep your body as still as you can and swing the putter with your arms through the ball. Try to see the putter make contact with the ball.

Special club events, wine dinners, seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of the special event and holiday dining policy. • At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price. Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you. • You may cancel 7 days prior to event, without being charged. • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price. Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.
