Where and how will you celebrate the holidays this year? I have a long tradition of hosting a Friendsgiving for those too far away from family on Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to doing that again this year with my KC family. For Christmas I will be with my family and most likely home in South Carolina. Are there any family traditions you partake in? I love decorating the Christmas tree while my mom and I listen to the classics. The two of us always make and decorate sugar cookies around the holidays. What ceramic tool would you love to find in your stocking this year? My dad put a few ceramic brushes in my stocking years ago and I've used them to near death. Maybe I'll find more this year... What is your holiday wish for others? To relax, slow down, and enjoy the holiday cheer.
Emily Connell
Do you have a favorite dish to make during the holidays? Any kind of baked sweets are my specialty, specifically cheesecake. Stuffing takes the cake though for savory! If the sky were the limit, whose artwork would you love to receive this holiday season? My answer is most definitely a figurative sculpture from Cristina Cordova. I love her work!
Where and how will you celebrate the holidays this year? I'm feeling a California visit to see family for the holidays. Then again, I could rock a KC experience! Are there any family traditions you partake in? My mom and I have always loved to make and decorate sugar cookies so I'm thinking of having a cookie decorating party. What ceramic tool would you love to find in your stocking this year? If my stocking was really big, I would find a soda kiln!!! What is your holiday wish for others? My holiday wish for others is that they feel like they belong and that they are loved.
Kelly Lynn Daniels
Do you have a favorite dish to make during the holidays? Banana bread has been my holiday baking tradition with my mom since I can remember so that would be the favorite dish. If the sky were the limit, whose artwork would you love to receive this holiday season? I am mesmerized by the monumentality and serenity of Richard Serra's steel sculptures. So yeah, just plunk one of those babies down in my yard.

Where and how will you celebrate the holidays this year? I’ll be spending Thanksgiving home in LA with my family. Christmas is still to be determined. My family always prepares traditional American food along with traditional Mexican food for the holidays. So I usually get to eat and enjoy a lot of foods. Are there any family traditions you partake in? Sometimes I will help my dad make tamales and Bizcochos with my mom for Christmas. What ceramic tool would you love to find in your stocking this year? A kemper loop tool probably, I break through them constantly from carving so much. What is your holiday wish for others? That everyone has somewhere to go to share a good meal and conversation with others. Do you have a favorite dish to make during the holidays? I enjoy making fruit pies for thanksgiving, they’re so simple to make & yummy but also fun to be creative with.
Christina Erives
If the sky were the limit, whose artwork would you love to receive this holiday season? A Cy Twombly or Giorgio Morandi painting.
Where and how will you celebrate the holidays this year? I'm going to Colorado this Christmas where I can spend some time with people whom I can call family. Are there any family traditions you partake in? Japanese tradition of christmas is to buy “Christmas Cake”. Now I believe that it was the cake industry's strategy to sell cake, but for sure it was working for any Japanese family. The cake has chocolate and sugar Santa Clauses and christmas trees, sometimes even reindeer. What ceramic tool would you love to find in your stocking this year? I cannot live without serrated tear drop rib tools. I normally buy 3 at time, but somehow manage to lose them in my space. Also it gets worn out quickly and I cannot have enough of them. If you are sculptor, this is a must-have tool for sure.
Hiromi Iyoda
What is your holiday wish for others? I wish everybody could get to spend some time with loved ones. I wish I were smart enough to discover the cure for those eternal diseases/virus. Do you have a favorite dish to make during the holidays? Beef stew and home made brownies! If the sky were the limit, whose artwork would you love to receive this holiday season? Akio Takamori's sculpture and Kirk Mangus and Ron Meyer's frog cup!!
28
Where and how will you celebrate the holidays this year? My family gathering location is still not yet decided, it will be between Houston, Phoenix, and San Jose. Are there any family traditions you partake in? Every year, each of our family members do a 15 minute presentation about what we've done this year, the struggles, the lessons, and insights into our respective careers + dating gossip. This is the high-light of the holiday What ceramic tool would you love to find in your stocking this year? Shimpo Banding Wheel.
Wen Dan Lin
What is your holiday wish for others? Remember what is important and be at ease. Do you have a favorite dish to make during the holidays? No, but i make the dishes themselves. If the sky were the limit, whose artwork would you love to receive this holiday season? Chris Gustin
Where and how will you celebrate the holidays this year? It's always iffy for me, as my family is spread out. Sometimes I visit my parents, but this year I'm either going to visit my brother in LA or kick it on my own at home! Are there any family traditions you partake in? My parents enjoyed the holidays, but we only had a few hard-and-fast traditions. One was making cinnamon hard candy, but as my brother and I got older that tradition has waned. Another was driving around on Christmas Eve and looking at the lights on houses in the fancy neighborhoods. If I have someone to go with, I still do this around the holidays. It's always so fun. What ceramic tool would you love to find in your stocking this year? One of those expensive carbide loop trimming tools! And always, new paintbrushes and masonite bats! What is your holiday wish for others? I'd like to see everyone be able to let go, even briefly, of life stresses and just enjoy time with friends and/or family.
Sarah Jewell Olsen
Do you have a favorite dish to make during the holidays? I make killer roasted mashed cauliflower with tons of garlic. And garlic bread. I love garlic. If the sky were the limit, whose artwork would you love to receive this holiday season? I would LOVE a Victor Babu platter.
