Arrival

The building plot's distinctive, highly visible location in the transition between Amager Fælled and Bellakvarter will create a unique opportunity for a head office that connects the recreational open landscape with the pulse of the big city.

The office building can be designed with a single central reception area, at which all users of the building will be received.

The exterior of the office building plays on the contrast between weight and lightness, recesses and dislocations. The urban façade is cut into two precise sections: one facing the city and the plaza, the other facing the recreational environment. The use of transparent glass sections, interposed gardens and staggerings and classic materials such as brick, which weathers beautifully, will create an inviting building, that will look both modern and timeless. The large openings in the façade at ground-floor level facing the quarter's plaza and Bellahave will provide visitors with a sense of the office building's inner spatial variety and diversity the moment they arrive. Here there will be the option of an atmospheric café adjacent to the new urban plaza, thereby forming a building, where the transition between inside and outside merges and becomes one. As an addition to the more public café on the ground floor, the building's green 'roof loop' will provide a recreational retreat, where staff can use the recreational terraces and meeting facilities. It will also invest the building with a dynamic expression opening towards Bellakvarter and Amager Fælled.

When employees and visitors enter the reception area, the vibrant café and the inviting foyer of the meeting centre will immediately feel they are in a spirited, pulsating building. The reception area will add a strong spatial dynamic to the act of arrival, and the entire area will buzz with activity, at once representative and accommodating.
