The Eye Of God
3
The Eye Of God In every college, there is a need for a religious space for reflection and contemplation regardless of one’s religious identification, where people can communicate with whatever they worship.
Concepts
Thus I designed a space where students and non- students can interact with no matter their stance with religion. I believe we all serve one God, only in different ways and sometimes our different practices do not see eye to eye with each other and this brought about my first concept model which had two curved forms which curve into each other but do not meet at any point making an indent in the middle. Loose programming of my building.
Diagrammatic render exploring the forms on the site to show the shadow relationship between the existing buildings and the new.
The concept of the curves started out with a simple eyeball (circle) split in half through different iterations influenced by circulation.

However, moving through iterations, I decided to place my worship space on the basement floor which is directly open to the sky; this illustrates an all-seeing eye (that is illustrating that God is always watching over us). For the exterior spaces, I designed a transitional garden that follows the curves illustrated by my building. Walking through the garden, one will come across several plants and statues that narrate different stories in different religions. For example, a statue of Mary with Jesus, the lotus which symbolizes the highest level that man
can possibly reach in terms of spiritual elevation in the Buddhist religion, and roses used for heavy perfume in Arabic and Muslim culture. This way as people walk through my site they get the chance to interact with space and learn about the religions.

Concepts
Evolution of the Textile industry at North Adams
In a time when everything is done by robots rather than local workers of a city, North Adams has become irrelevant. The city of North Adams has a history of success in the manufacturing industry, especially in the textile industry.
For this project, I intend to create a space for the production of ECO-SNEAKERS that can be manufactured from the on-site growth of plants as dyes and the recycling of waste products such as old shoes as parts of a mixture for new shoes. This would bring back the relevance of the textile manufacturing industry to North Adams as well as make the Man-power in the city more relevant. Initial concept to connect the two lands by the building while making the roof of the building accessible to the people.
Diagrammatic layout tests on site based on program and client needs.
The reasoning behind this idea is to
make an environment whereby the locals are encouraged to recycle their old products as well as teach visitors how it is done at the same time.
and public spaces. By doing this I was able to create a space that is relatable to both the kids and adults with the presence of sculptural gardens on the upper floors, Indoor/outdoor Educational spaces, and a roof garden restaurant.
the overwhelming topographical changes/ curves posed by the site. So in response to that, I decided to replicate the curves formed on the site using form-finding methods originally practiced by Heinz Isler. I went through several forms with natural forces and human-made forces. For example, sun direction, wind direction and Private
For the tests I used a wet cloth dipped in glue so I could place the replicate the topographic changes to the building shapes.

The first building is a recycling space and manufacturing/ storage lab. Here the raw and trash materials from the neighborhood are brought to be studied, crushed and recycled into materials for the production of the sneakers.

Axis Dance Company The art of dance is sometimes defined by the movement of an able-bodied person giving a stigma that disabled people should not be involved in such activities. Because of this, I decided to create a building that allows an open circulation. The main mode of organization here was hierarchy; placing the most important for the disabled performers.
Site Analysis Axis Dance Company’s main goal is to revive the art of movement and physical expression in those that are disabled, thus changing our views towards the limits of disability. Axis’ core beliefs are centered around the philosophy of balancing Advocacy, Artistry, and Engagement. These central ideas needed to be reflected in the experiences and forms that the architecture of the building creates. The building is more than just a facility for dance, rather it serves as a societal hub where people can gather to explore new opportunities and broaden their views on the art. Site Noise Sources

The Musical Sound Box Berklee school of music can be coined as one of the most ancient and renowned music institutions in the country. Thus the retention of history is necessary. One of the main objectives of modernist adaptive architecture is replicating old styles of architecture with new and simple styles. For this project, I decided to make a building that replicates the classic style architecture present around Berklee and the modern style architecture surrounding the institution.
The building is divided into three; the business sector(a semi-private area), the commercial zone, and the hospitality sector. So I used concrete as a wall finish for the first facade than a glass facade for the middle section which is the circulation point of the building. As for the last split, I placed long arched windows like the ones used on the typical Berklee building. Finally, I have a garden at the basement level which is open to the sky and collects water during rainfall and is reused in the building. I also have solar energy collectors on the roof above the electronic lab. The solar energy and water collected are reused in building climate comfortability and electricity.

The Appreciation Pavilion The prompt of this project was to redesign a parking lot in the heart of Newbury street into a space for relaxation and shade. So, I designed the landscape into a place of interest for the Montessori Children School across the street of our site, providing shaded outdoor classrooms and open spaces for easy circulation. However, studying the setup of the John Hancock building, Trinity Church and The Prudential, I noticed a pattern of repetition and alignment. I then came up with three arc forms which also look like petals to form the pavilion.
The pavilion space uses shade to define a place of gathering and learning. The movement of people is predominant between commonwealth and towards Copley square. Furthermore, there is a sense of repetition and threshold in the site area which brings me to my concept of bringing people into my pavilion space either coming from Copley square or going into Newbury street.
Each Petal forms the path ways through the site connecting the road.

My interpretation of the book through diagrammatic models.
The Giving Tree Moving on from the Pavilion project we were asked to pick a children’s book and I picked The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. The Giving Tree is a book that tells a tale about a relationship between a boy and a tree. The boy loved the tree so much in childhood, but as he grew older the struggles of life played a part on their relationship. But no matter the struggle, the tree always remained loyal to the boy/man giving him materials to make his life beautiful.

I developed my concept from the giving nature of the tree to the boy. Newbury street and Dartmouth street are both affluent places with a mixture of colonial style architecture and modern style architecture. Looking at Copley square with the prudential, John Hancock and the holy trinity, There is a connection between all these buildings to the area. So I decided to replicate certain moves made in the buildings around. I imitated the pull out effect of the bays on Newbury street to form the cantilevers and pull back in the building. My interpretation of the book is the influence to my design.

Professional Practice Project: New Avon police station Location: Avon, Massachusetts Client: Town of Avon Service Performed: Rendering For this project, I made renderings for space in the police station. These renderings were used in the presentation of the design ideas to the town for approval. The project is almost complete.

The Avon Police Department shared space with the Avon Fire Department in a portion of their building that is severely undersized to meet the PD’s needs. The Town needed a new and modern facility of their own to properly service the community. So as a solution CBI (the firm I worked. Refer to resume) designed a new 9,000 GSF single-story Police Station constructed on the site of the former Crowley School.

Project: Tiny homes Location: None Client: Young graduates/ College students Service Performed: Design/ Rendering During summer after graduating from the undergraduate program I decided to make a one bedroom affordable house for a college student. In these days it is almost impossible to find an affordable place to stay as a college student or young worker.
