Work experience placements welcomed for the first time in two years
Churchers recently welcomed seven law students from a range of universities for a week of work experience.
The restrictions of the pandemic meant it had been two years since we had been able to hold a placement scheme like this.
The trainees had the opportunity to attend court and support members of the team as they conducted placements in a wide range of departments in different offices.
All of the trainees recently completed or are embarking on their LPC certificates and Graduate Diplomas, with one trainee beginning a second career in law.
Applicants to the placement scheme were selected based on the quality of their CVs and covering letter – just like they would have to do if applying for a permanent position.
Associate Louise Jack said: “Anyone who wants a career as a solicitor wants to get work experience and it is a tough industry to get into.
“The feedback has been really positive. The placement scheme is about mentoring young lawyers and seeing them flourish. This is the first step in hopefully a long and successful career.” ■
