THE SOLICITORS’ CHARITY MEET THE BOARD James Brennan – new Trustee

After a decade as a Trustee of a global seafaring charity, James Brennan is setting sail as a new Trustee for The Solicitors’ Charity.

James has a 26 year career background in banking, investment management and business development and currently works with charities as Portfolio Director for Cazenove Capital. It is this specialist knowledge and experience that made the prospect of a new role as Trustee and Honorary Treasurer for The Solicitors’ Charity so appealing.

With solicitors in his family, James felt the challenge was one in which he could make a positive difference and bring a new perspective.

“I’m bringing a fresh pair of eyes as well as my business and trustee experience and really look forward to making a positive contribution,’’ he said.

“Having attended my first board meeting I really want to help the Charity reach out to as many people as possible and raise awareness of the invaluable support we can offer to Solicitors when they are struggling and times are tough.”

“I intend to help spread the word using my own network, and hope to contribute positively to the organisation and from what I have seen so far there is a strong platform in place to do just that.”

As Honorary Treasurer, James will focus on helping to improve the charity’s processes, manage potential risks and monitor the organisation’s cash flow and investments.

“I’m hoping to support all aspects of the charity – I was impressed by my first Board meeting – it was very productive and straightforward, which is how I like to conduct myself in life. I hope my own experience helping charities and other institutions to make the most of their assets will help to benefit the people we serve.”

James lives in Hertfordshire and is the father to two girls. He enjoys football, motorsports, travelling and running. ■
