ASPIRE 2024 West Thames College plays crucial role in the community

CAREERS EVENT THIS SPRING!

West Thames College has a key role to play within the local communities we serve, contributing to economic recovery and prosperity as well as social inclusion.

West Thames College will be hosting a day filled with industry talks, masterclasses, as well as a marketplace, providing information to hundreds of students who are eager to take the right steps in their career.

We want to make this event more successful than ever, and we are looking for local businesses to attend who can inspire the next generation of talent, as well as shining a light on their industry. There is also an opportunity to network with over 40+ businesses at the event.

We have won Education & Training Provider of the Year at the West London Chamber of Commerce Awards. It recognises and celebrates the positive impact the College has on the wider community, which includes the Aspire careers event.

Last year’s event was hugely successful with over 600 people in attendance. West Thames College formed many exciting opportunities with businesses such as Marriott, Metropolitan Police and EasyJet.

• The College Collaboration Fund (CCF), a funded project in collaboration with the Heathrow Skills Partnership and member colleges focussing on virtual work experience, health and wellbeing and mentoring

• Skills Academies, are academies created in priority sectors, funded by the GLA and which require organisations to work together to develop the skills required for these areas to grow

Lily from Microso t said, “On behalf of the Microso t team, I would like to thank you and the event organiser for the opportunity to share our inspiring intern and apprentice career journeys. It is extremely rewarding to be able to touch so many students in a day.”

• Youth Hub, a partnership with Hounslow Job Centre, aimed at local residents aged 18-24, providing them with advice and support, employability skills, training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities, access to employers that enables them to achieve their appropriate next steps.

• The NatSpec project, a funded collaboration between AaA and West Thames College, aimed at supporting SEND provision through FE Colleges working with a specialist SEND providers.
