Past Events

Your Chamber International Trade team have had a remarkably busy start to the year, with our Festival of Business attracting stands from Turkey, the USA, Italy, and Iraq which resulted in the signing of an MOU with the Federation of Iraq Chambers of Commerce.

Shortly after we had a visit to West Thames College by the Head of British Council Iraq who led a delegation looking to partner with UK colleges.

We also received a delegation from Sialkot, Pakistan and attended a reception for them at the Pakistan High Commission to understand more about their manufacturing base of surgical instruments, plus sporting equipment and leather goods.

Launch of BCC Global Britain Report

As Shevaun Haviland DG of BCC said: “This is about making sure that the UK is the best place to start, grow and invest in a business.”

We were proud to be at the launch of BCC Global Britain Report at Heathrow’s Compass Centre, the fourth of our ‘Future of the Economy’ project and hear comments from Lord Madelson on our place in the global marketplace.

The report recognises that the UK is starting from a position of great strength – it is currently the sixth largest economy in the world, the fifth largest exporter, and has the third largest stock of inward investment assets. However, to keep its seat at the top table, government, business, higher education, and cultural and societal institutions must work together.

We signed on line a MOU to promote trade with the Sri Lanka Chamber (SLASSCOM) via Jehan Perinpanayagam, a UWL Alumni and our member Sujith Wijesena of Hampton Brands
