2024 Annual Ball & Recognition Awards: Winners Celebrated
Chester Racecourse was buzzing with excitement on Friday, 15th November, as the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce hosted over 350 guests at their Annual Ball & Recognition Awards. This year’s event, themed around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and sponsored by Ellis & Co, brought Chamber members together for an evening of celebration, reflection, and recognition.
The evening kicked off with arrival drinks at the Champagne Bar, before guests made their way into the Pavilion to take their seats. Chamber CEO, Sarah Bailey, welcomed everyone warmly, setting a celebratory tone for the night. Returning as host, journalist and broadcaster, Sian Lloyd, invited Helen Nellist, Chair of the Chamber, to the stage. Helen expressed gratitude to Ellis & Co, the evening’s headline sponsor, and introduced the event’s chosen charity, The North West Air Ambulance Charity.
Sian then led the awards ceremony, featuring ten categories with over 100 entries. Finalists had been selected in advance, and the winners were announced on stage to enthusiastic applause.

Following the awards, guests participated in a Wonka-themed raffle, purchasing specially crafted chocolates sponsored by KingKabs, with proceeds benefiting North West Air Ambulance. The lucky raffle winner took home a Melting Diamond Necklace and Bracelet set, generously donated by Lucy Quartermaine. An auction followed, with additional prizes contributed by the local business community. In total, the evening raised £11,646 for North West Air Ambulance, whose life-saving services provide critical care to patients across the region.
Reflecting on the evening, Sarah Bailey said, “Tonight’s awards allowed us to recognise the remarkable achievements of our members. With over 100 entries this year, our judges faced the challenge of selecting winners from an outstanding pool of nominees. Congratulations to our winners, and heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, whose support made this event possible!”
The night continued with entertainment, including a game of pass-the-parcel for a golden ticket prize: a bottle of champagne. Local band Rhythm Train then took to the stage, keeping guests dancing late into the night.
Sarah concluded, “A huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes and to all our guests for their generosity. Your support directly benefits this incredible charity and makes a real impact in our community. It’s been a fantastic evening, bringing together so many people to celebrate what it means to be part of the Chamber. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event unforgettable!”
