Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care
When a loved one dies we may need someone to talk to. Often this help comes from family and friends but sometimes it helps to talk to someone independent.
Grief and loss can also raise spiritual or religious issues. Chaplains are at the hospital to ensure that your beliefs and values are respected and that your spiritual needs are met and confidentially maintained.
Providing an opportunity to remember a loved one who has died can help a person on their journey of grief. The Chaplaincy organises Remembrance Services where patients’ names are read and a candle lit in their memory. There is also an annual service for parents who have lost infants in the past.
You are welcome to use our facilities. At the Cumberland Infirmary the Chapel is located on level 1 next to the Children’s Ward, where there is a Book of Remembrance. At The Fairfield Centre you can make use of the Quiet Room, an area for quiet refection and where you can add the name of your loved one on to our memorial tree.
At West Cumberland Hospital you can make use of the Chapel or quiet room. The Chapel is located next to the hospital shop. This area is where you can sit quietly and remember and where you can also add the name of your loved one or leave a message in the memorial books.
Should you wish to speak with a Chaplain then please contact via the main switchboard:
