President’s Letter Spring….what a great time to grab a book from one of our Berkeley County Library branches or a purchase from the Friends’ shelves, and find a comfortable place outside to enjoy the book in the relaxing springtime. There is nothing like a good book and a pleasant spring day! As most of you know, the new Cane Bay Library branch is scheduled to open this spring. The FOL look forward to meeting and working with the residents to promote that branch. We will be having membership drives and a book donation drop-off in the Cane Bay community. We are working with different areas to distribute flyers, eblasts, etc. so you can be a part of the Friends of the Library. Talents, expertise and time are needed, and I’m sure the residents have abilities and the desire to contribute. I look forward to meeting each of you in an effort to support the Berkeley County Library System. Again, membership dues are only $10 per year for an individual and $20 for a family which makes for a great bargain and tax deduction. The dues also help fund Library programs. Please consider becoming a member of FOL. I sincerely hope many of you explore the wonderful programs the BCLS branches offer. The schedule for all the programs are listed in each issue of Open Up! I think you will find something for everyone and the hours are varied so all can participate. Remember, the Friends sponsor the programs and events with the funds from the membership dues. We welcome you to attend the Friends monthly meetings. Our next meeting will be at the Hanahan Library on March 26 at 6 pm. The following monthly meeting will be at the Goose Creek Library on April 23 at 6 pm.
